In other words Putin is saying "I want power more than peace". The solution is not to have Putin change his mind, but to have Russian soldiers change their minds. It's amazing how when power is given to the wrong person, the whole world becomes at risk because of that one person. Peace can only take place if Russian people and soldiers find the COURAGE to unite against deceptive Kremlin.
As far as hacking goes, disabling their websites may inflict immediate and short-term pain, what really hurts the authoritarian regimes in countries like Russia, China and N Korea is infiltrating with the truth, facts, diversified views and discussions and a culture of transparency. Those regimes are very fragile in that sense.

For once, they're getting almost pure positive publicity, which could be very helpful if/when members hit legal trouble, too. Plus, most criminals aren't actually horrible people to the core - some are just rebels, some are just angry at some aspect of society, etc. But figure Putin runs VERY contrary to the ethos of a lot of old school hackers. That said, I have little doubt they may have made a deal WITH the government to get them off their backs for a while. So not the government, but more accurately volunteer proxies

In the early days of the Anonymous movement I was pretty active but I started noticing some disturbing trends. The vast majority of the people involved at that time were just regular people with strong tech and or social skills and our targets became targets in an almost organic kind of way. At some point there was a shift where the targets no longer seemed to rise up in a natural and organic way. Instead these seemed to be a part of some larger plan that the regular people had no part in or clue about. The tldr is that I stopped associating with the group because there was an almost obvious bias and non-obvious agenda that crept in. They are not always right, do not always have pure intentions, etc and that should be obvious to people able to look at it objectively. I'm not saying that them attacking Russia is an example of this bias/agenda but it could be. What Russia is doing in the Ukraine is wrong so it could be an example of an organic target
I hope they can display to the Russian people that this war is actually happening, that it is not a "justified special operation", and that neither the Ukrainian civilians nor the Russian soldiers are treated like humans by Russia.
@@Westheimer836 I don't think so. I just saw some Russians interviewed on the street. If people knew, there would be an uprising, much larger than the protests so far.

Everyone in the IT world knows these 'mysterious' attacks are coming from estonia. The DoD has an operations center where they can practice on any nation without recourse because its outside of US jurisdiction and is inside a US puppet state. Estonia is an insignficant little noisy meddlesome baltic nation, so it is is more than happy to operate with any guidelines the DoD gives it including 'mysterious' cyber attacks on the US power infrastructure which the DoD can suggest it came somewhere from further east.
@Helen R Nobody claimed that but it doesn't change the fact that russian people need their own wikileaks too, especially now with the new laws Russia established to cancel their free media.

Cyber attacks scare me. We could all be analated by such things. This is another reason why I believe paper back-up records are vital. Especially when medical information is concerned.
I would hope that they would be very judicious in what they hack. The common citizens still need to be able to access sites where they can find the info the people need!
Common Russian citizens can't currently access all those sites due to censorship by their government. Check out their new station that got shut down and how Facebook is being limited. I agree that it would be good for them to have access to facts but I don't think 'Anonymous' can limit the information any more than Putin already is.
Many of the hackers are Russians themselves! In the past, they've been very specific targeting very moneyed interests and those who call the shots. It wouldn't make sense to target the common people with anything other than providing access to information that's been censored by Putin's cronies. The Russian people have to be strong right now, to stand up to the bully. It won't be a cyber war against the Russian people - it will be by and for the Russian people. Best is if they could elect a leader who isn't under Chinese or American or NATO or old-guard thumbscrews, so I wish the Russian people good discrimination in picking up the pieces after this is over.
