On the subject of souls games, your frustration is kind of the point. The game functions on a "i show you, you learn" logic." And part of that is using deaths as a way of testing if you were paying attention. It sucks that it wasn't for you, but there are plenty of other good games, like Hades. Which does use that same logic, but in a more obvious and less frustrating way.
