I've seen this live twice now. Cannot recommend it enough it is a masterpiece in every way. I am a theatre student, I work in theatre production, and I've seen well over 100 plays. I'd say this is tied for my favorite show.
I have seen this five times live. Four times on broadway and once touring. It’s in my top three. I have seen over 150 shows live between Broadway, regional, tours, community theaters and high school productions. This is 100% a show that needs to be seen live.
I’ve seen this show three times: once on Broadway, twice on tour. I would without a second thought fly to NYC, see this show a couple of times, and fly back home. It’s THAT GOOD.
This is impressive, but you chose one of the heaviest segment of the show. You need context, it is very important. There are more then one musical themes in the show combined here. The music is wonderful. The story also. The voices, sorry to repeat myself, wonderful. Sorry.
I am so in love with Hadestown. Shame that I'll probably never get to see it live, and even if I do, I'll probably only get to see it translated (translations are great and a thing I have a lot of thoughts on, but even so, even the best translation will always lose some of the nuance of the original) since I don't live in the US and am not a traveling person and don't have much money in any case, so flying all the way to another country to go see a musical just isn't a feasible option for me. I hope you do get to see Hadestown live, though!
