That was a phenomenal display of 2 bass virtuosos!! At first I thought Feraud was gonna smoke Marcus! Boy was I pleasantly surprised! Remembering it never has been, or will be, about speed!
marcus played with Victor and Stanley who can be fast and technical but all three of them showed theirs mastery on the bass ..thats a common misconception about marcus.. people think he's all slap but Marcus is an extremely well roundeded bass player ..hes balanced he can solo...be technical but can also get in pocket and groove like no other and has his own soulful voice..he's a 40 plus year Vet
@@jasonhearn5818 sorry not to be disrespectful or anything, but i think it's fair to anticipate this dude to smoke anyone if you've seen any of his chops
@giocoso4576 Nah its not fair to assume that and you dont know what Marcus is truly capable of which is why the original comment said they were pleasantly surprised because alot of people assume marcus is all slap based on these videos. Theres a reason marcus has played on over 500 albums...hes legendary bass player that Grooves like no other and been in every musical situation..besides just like with Feraud ..Marcus was influenced by Jaco too
Much more depth to marcus than just slap hes a extremely well rounded bass player. Playing on over 500 albums he was a sideman for 15yrs before he went solo.
There is a four note phrase that both play in this jam. Starts with Hadrien then Marcus plays inhis solo to acknowledge its origin from a line by Jaco. Hos influence is never far away.
Oh man that new sire v10 im getting one or sounds and looks amazing it's a sort jazz bass I got a American Elite jazz bass by fender r ready to sre how the v10 compares the roasted maple neck is the selling point for me
I love his playing but let’s be honest, half the time Marcus’ solos have no melody and he just hammers away on ghost notes in the same sort of patterns he’s used many times 💀. Melodic content is not normally Marcus’ strong point
Lol no more so trying not to over play and musically assessing the situation...Marcus made a album and toured with Stanley Clark and Victor Wooten ...its just day in the park for Marcus
Oh REALLY?!?!?!?.......first off, its not a competition. Two totally different styles and players all together. Both are incredibly great players. Why even attempt to compare them? They're not competing against each other. Why are some musicians so stupid with these silly kinds of comments! Grow up man. Smh
