Where is that sips guy(I know him) anyway? I haven't seen them (NL and Sips) interact for so long.

Any card game is basically just stats, if you have 9 cards that deal 100 DMG and 1 card that deals 1 DMG, adding another 100 DMG card only increases your avg DMG per from 90 to like 92, but getting rid of the 1 DMG card takes you to 100. Conversely, if you have 9 1 DMG cards and 1 100 DMG card, adding another 100 DMG card increases your average by much more. Basically just trying to max out the average values per draw

Looking at other people's theories doesn't take anything away from the experience you already had though. I like being flabbergasted at how someone came up wit a completely different view on the same events.

Finding out that Hafu was a pro competitive WoW arena player was kind of wild. I never paid attention to that scene, so I only knew her as the Hearthstone Arena player, but she really is a hardworking/talented competitive gamer.

I mean if youve heard her full story like on the Dan gheesling podcast, she's definitely been through that phase multiple times in her life, everyone can get crushed and many people will, the difference is if you stay squished and walk around like an accordion with legs or you put your thumb in your mouth and blow hard inflating yourself back up like a cartoon character, then you roll up your sleeves on your arms and crack you fingers and you keep going!

I disagree. I think the 'gifted kid' model is that your curve spikes too early. You get pretty good at things really quickly which creates an expectation of continuous growth without really having to work for it. So when the curve evens out, you never reach beyond the first couple of plateaus because you don't really know how to overcome them. In school, that's often all you need to get the A, so you just breeze through everything. Then life hits you and you haven't developed the skills to develop beyond 'pretty good' into 'great' and certainly not 'exceptional'. But your expectations of yourself, because school was so easy, is 'exceptional', which you never meet, leading to self loathing and depression and all that good stuff. Hafu (she'll be the first to say this) usually starts out pretty bad at things, but is very good at working and growing consistently. Because she kind of starts at a plateau, she's developed the ability to work through future plateaus and ends up in the stratosphere. I had a friend say 'the only talent that actually matters is the talent for discipline', and that being a talent I lack, I couldn't agree more.

I'm so sorry gifted kids but you're not uniquely suffering because you got As in high school. Some people never got that either.
