It's a little early, but a 4-5 day trip a year max is probably fine, especially when their parents are willing to help out. Some people have dads who are in the military and leave for months.

So many red flags here of why having this child was a bad idea. 1. "Having a child cus parents want a grandchild" is not a good reason to have a child 2. Bloke isn't ready to settle down, may not want the child 3. i cant speak to a parents pov but i can say a wedding is not something you miss. that is a once in a lifetime thing for every single person. nothing save literal emergencies should stop you from going to one. id say its a similar thing to funerals, baby showers, and i would even say graduation from university

4-5 days is nothing you should be able to solo parent. My partner had a business trip and I solo parented for 4 days, you just deal with it as long as the kid takes bottles it’s not an issue.

Breaking a console is some 12yr old shit that gets you clowned on for the rest of your life. But like 4-5 days for a close friends wedding isn’t that bad. Idk maybe squeeze it down to a 3 day trip and have your parents help you out. 8month olds scream a lot but otherwise aren’t that bad. And then whenever he wants to go somewhere just remind him about the wedding and you should be good for another year where after that point you can pretty comfortably leave the kid with parents along for a few days without worry.

For the 2nd story, I think they're Aussie maybe? Cocktails here are $18+ each (mostly due to liquor tax) and $80 increase in electricity is... small.
