It all started a year ago, One day I got up, I put my left foot on the ground, but I couldn't put it down, because it hurt my heel and ankle very much, throbbed while standing, then changed and so all the time when I couldn't even put my heel to the ground, japaiet was to be able to walk, abnormal pain, even if there was no problem all the time I walked 10-15 km a day, I'm not a runner, maybe the work shoes are to blame, I do not know if I was stretched or what X-rays, plantar fasciitis, or heelspur, prescribed anti-inflammatory drugs, and physiotherapy. The podiatrist prescribed special soles that did not help, it hurt even more, I tried a lot of soles, then stretching, drinking vitamins, riding a bike, walking less, but there was stiffness in both legs + Hagelund's syndrome on the right leg + joint pain or watching your and other videos, but the heel pain passed half a year ago, but reappeared today, after a heavy load and a kilometer of walking, after rest it is difficult to start walking, but when walking then pass a little pain, but after 8 hours of work, both stiffness in the legs, maybe arthritis, heels hurt every day, I use plantar soles, because with the usual I can not work all day, my feet hurt, I did an X-ray, there are no fractures and heelspur, but the ankle bone of the right leg has a needle, broken where years ago, probably! could it be this problem, or from the lower back that is worn, the bones of the foot are worn, the tendons are guilty, feeling like a 60-year-old grandfather ??? because I don't understand why no doctor sends for an MRI ?! What do you think of a Michigan foot doctor ??

Hello Doc, I had the deformity evaluated and was consulted to do a calcaneus retraction surgery. OUCH! Anyways I’ll be out for about 4-6 months with a walking boot, I really think this had caused the initial deformity was when I was dealing with inner ankle sprains/swelling due to some fluid retention over the summer. It’s crazy that there’s so many walking boots out there with different manufacturers and I’m sure they are meant to correct and support but I’m knowing there are some bias opinions for over use of these devices and what the underlying outcomes can be. So we went through with the operation and at first I was really angry. They had put two fat screws at the start of the heel till towards the middle metacarpal region. So I dealt with the pain for about 3 weeks but now the incisions and the tenderness has gone away. They trimmed the heel by the the outer ankle, toward the bottom.. and pow! There’s the retraction method. Question does the nerves and bony pigments on the surface of the foot repair itself over time? Is it something I may have lost out on due to going through with the surgery? I also do believe operating is the best bet for longevity and positive return for young people. The deformity won’t come back and the nerve will quickly start its retreating process. But I hate to have come across this video knowing they’re could’ve been a different outcome, anyways to each their own. Hope to hear from ya soon!

I think I have Haglunds but there has never been any pain except for how I initially may have gotten it. I fell in the snow and heard a pop. My ankle was swollen big time and it hurt to walk but I couldn't afford to miss work so I worked. That was almost 20 years ago. I just noticed this year that I have a weird looking bump on the back of my heel but no pain.

For those of us who work on our feet or commute in the city, I would say to avoid inserts that he shows, in the video, they don’t really work for me. The heel-only inserts are okay, but I find they are too low and don’t take impact of concrete well. Remember, impact resistance plays a role, but good foot angle will allow the area to recouperate even if you can’t take time off your feet. I go with a no-back mule/ sandal with a good rubber lift in the heel, or a chunky heel boot at least 2 cm high, loose fitting Chelsea boot or military boot with a heel, with laces that tie at the calf. If it has zipper to get in it, that’s even better, as it won’t inflame the hagland bump while putting them on. Then you can STILL WORK, do stretching exercises and ice, hot baths etc and over time get it down to a absolute minimum without resorting to debilitating surgery. Also, cut out foods that cause inflammation like processed bread, sugar and alcohol

I'm not sure if it's Haglund's, but I do have a bump on my left heel. Or rather, I _did?_ It seems to be going away and I only ever had pain when I touch it, hit it or simply moved my foot a certain way. I assumed it came from some boots I was wearing for a while, but I've swapped to shoes and stretch my feet out a quite a bit. Since the change in footwear, it seems to be getting better.

@DrTomBiernacki
@DrTomBiernacki 3 года назад
Not everyone is the same but something to consider, if an injury is staying sore and not healing it is likely too much repetitive stress/irritation without enough time to heal and then get more flexible or stronger. Almost in every case the person is still tighter on that side even though they are stretching. The key is always to measure and track progress of that tightness and flexibility through an objective measure such as someone holding your feet and checking flexibility (rather than just winging it or bending your foot yourself and seeing that they look similar). Then tracking progress of stretching and better shoes/insoles etc.

I have been to the podiatrist multiple times, had several physiotherapy sessions, seen a sports doctor, and surgery isn't recommended, and I'm told to keep stretching out the hamstring and calf muscles. I have this bump on both heels and the pain goes away when I rest for a long time. I have flat wide feet and wear supportive shoes with custom orthotics, but still after sport/exercise the bump swells up and hurts with movement. So medical technology this far into 2024 has not advanced enough to be able to do a bone spur surgery, without having to detach the Achilles tendon? Therefore, based on your many excellent Achilles related exercises, by strengthening the Achilles through stretching, one can literally avoid surgery? You are the BEST and HONEST doctor on RU-vid. Unfortunately my friend there is no way the exercises will help you with haglund. What the naturopaths say are pure theories. Now there is a solution not to do open surgery but arthroscopy. Generally orthotics that we use have about a 2-4mm lift but a deep heel cup that holds the sides, good running shoes have about a 8-12 lift, but high heel women's shoes can be 2-6"+, specifically it's these larger heights that can cause problems, at the same time different shoes can rub differently for different people

I'm 65 years old and am dealing with a spur in the back of my heel with unbelievable pain. I have been to three doctors who tell me that I need to wear a full boot to let the foot heal but that does nothing, just a waste of time and money. Other primary care doctors tell me to elevate ice and over the counter pain pills that will do more harm to me in the long run, no pun intended. I have corrective foot wear as well as open back corrective footwear but the pain is always there and keeps me awake half the night. I have tried just about everything for a little pain relief but can't seem to find anyone or anything that helps. It looks just like the X-ray you are showing. Doc, I saw your 3+ months ankle pain video and you kept on repeating 'stabilize the ankle with a brace or boot'. By this, I'm obviously assuming that you mean to immobilise the ankle and keep it still for a 'long period of time'. It's been 3 months and I know 100% that I've torn multiple ligaments somewhere deep inside the ankle. Deep, not just the ATFL. My question is: should I immobilise it now? Or is it too late to immobilise the joint? If so, should I use a boot or the one that I currently have, the aircast air stirrup brace?
@DrTomBiernacki
@DrTomBiernacki 3 года назад
Hi thanks for the question. Not specifically for you but in general the tear could mean a lot of things, but potentially in a situation like that trial immobilization or even casting can potentially reapproximate the endings, if there is no signs of healing(on mri or ultrasound) then potentially the gap and the motion is too much and a direct surgical repair may be necessary. These are very difficult and specific injuries that require imaging and followup to track the progress, but it is not impossible to improve and potentially even heal a torn ligament for sure.

Many times when I see a patient after years of injury it is not a tear(specifically not instability of the joint) but ankle joint equinus(contracture which is appreciated) causing subtalar joint pain, not ankle joint instability. Consider assessing for these changes with your doctor.

I think I started getting this while wearing work boots and having walk A lot at my job. It’s now very prominent after 4 years. I have zero pain tho. Should I worry or try to fix this?

Do the stretches now. I'm 51yrs old and play a lot of sports and now it's really hurting. I'm trying everything as I'm not going to do the surgery. I don't like the idea of removing my tendon to shave the bone at all.

@@captainbigboss9932 hey brother, so at this point yes I still run sprints when playing softball and flag football. I play OF so I do have run in quick burst and when I hit. For flag football, I play QB so it’s less. I do play defense so I’m running. However it’s been flaming back up so I’ve been having to learn how to live with it. I went to a foot specialist and she gave me cream and ankle sleeve. They help. The next step is shock therapy, so I’m holding off for now before I use that. I witched over to turf cleats as regular cleats kill my feet. It’s helped. Stretches and rest in between has helped, but I think I need to eliminate a night of sports. I’m pushing Mon, We’d, Thur, and sometimes on sat or sun. I was worthless last Monday. Gym workouts I’m totally fine. Little sore on my right heal today. It’s usually my left one that flares up, but that one is fine right now. Let’s stay in touch

@@rickanduiza186 you didnt go for surgery? im afraid to do surgery and also we can't afford it. but i still want to play basketball even if it's just for exercise. if you didn't do surgery, does the bumb became more prominent as months go by during your activities? thank you so much. im really scared cause i dont want to do surgery
@rickanduiza186
@rickanduiza186 2 года назад
@@captainbigboss9932 No, I'm not going to do the surgery. I'm not risking my achilles tendon to be removed and placed back. If it was just shaving the bone, I'd do it. There is down time involved. There's always a risk that you won't have the same mobility after, even though it's a common procedure, I'm not gambling. When it flares up, yes it does become a little more prominent but then the swelling goes down a little. It will never go away. So it's key to have the right shoes so it's not rubbing and flaring it up. Right now the key is to rest and strengthen your heals and calves. This is a new journey for me so I'm learning as I go.

KNOW that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 UNDERSTAND the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23 CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Romans 10:9 REPENT of your sins Luke 13:3 READ and STUDY God's Word to show yourself approved. 2 Timothy 2:15 PUT ON the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:11 BEWARE of the son of perdition who is coming first disguised as Jesus to oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God, or worshipped. 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4 WATCH and PRAY until the true Christ returns. Luke 12:37 Remain as a chaste virgin waiting for her true husband. (Christ)2 Corinthians 11:2 Shepherds chapel on RU-vid explains the whole Bible God bless.
