Haibike SDURO Full FatSix Review - $5.3k

The Haibike SDURO Full FatSix is one of the only full suspension fat electric bikes I've seen, quality hardware including 20 speed Shimano Deore XT drivetrain, solid 2 year motor and battery warranty with 5 years on the frame. Powered by the Yamaha mid-drive ebike system with 500 watt motor, Zero Cadence pedal assist, 80 Newton meters of torque to move the tires through soft terrain. Quick release thru-axles front and rear makes transport and maintenance easier, side-slide battery allows the top tube to slope down for lower stand over height, the bike is available in three frame sizes for improved fit across body types. Lower pedal cadence activation ~80 RPM vs. 95 to 100 RPM on the XDURO Haibikes, no shift sensing, large clunky charger, the bike is basically already sold out and might be difficult to find.

Great video as always. I used this review to help me decide to buy one last year 2023 (2nd hand with 3000 miles on it). It only needed a wheel bearing replaced, Awesome Bike and still cuts it 8years on!! 👍🏻😁

Nice review Court. I like that you are thorough with the specs, and give your opinion on whether it's a quality bike or not. I've recently purchased a Focus Aventura and your review of a similar model was very helpful. Keep up the great work mate!

I like your videos and that you spreading the word around north america. Those bikes are so much fun to ride and are 1million times more enviroment friendly than a hybrid or electric car. I recommend everyone to try such a bike. Words can´t describe it until you tried one. I use such a bike for my daily commute to work and almost everything. Got my new 2016 Xduro nDuro RX about a week ago. Its absolutly great. I live in germany and even there you have to pre order your bike almost instantly after they are announced around august to september. If you don´t then you have to live with it of what´s left. The whole production of my bike was sold out 4 months before the first of it reached a dealer. I think that Haibike (WInora Group) should set up a whole production line in the us for north america so that they dont steal our precious bikes and we have more for the german or european market. :p
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
Ha! Well, at least they are legal where you live... many states in the US make you ride on streets, it's way less safe than using bike paths and trails but hopefully legislation is changing. It breaks my heart, lots of people just ride on trails anyway so I'm always requesting they act responsibly and don't make a bad name for the space. Sorry we have been taking some of your inventory... thanks for making such great bikes in Europe :D

How big and heavy is the charger? Would it fit in a LowePro Flipside 200? (Internal Dimensions: 17.8 x 12.6 x 38 cm (7.01 x 4.96 x 14.96 in)) Would you consider the charger to heavy to have on your back for a full battery charge in the woods? Awesome review btw, as always (maybe slight criticism: let people finish talking before adding to their sentence or interrupt them, but i guess you where to exited about the awesome bike ;) )
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
Thanks for the feedback Jesper! I agree, let people finish XD sometimes I'm rushing so the videos won't end up super long, some people talk slowly or deviate and begin marketing which isn't what EBR is about, the idea is to get some details from reps but not the whole "our tech is the best". The battery charger for Yamaha is huge, heavier than most and one of the low points in my opinion, we didn't have one on hand for this review but you can see it in other Haibike reviews I've shot. There's a picture of it here: electricbikereview.com/haibike/sduro-allmtn-rc/ and I talk more about it with the different motor systems here: electricbikereview.com/guides/ebike-mid-drive-motor-comparison/

@ElectricBikeReview.com would you prefer this bike over a Specialized turbo levo fattie ? Not the carbon one the one that runs about 5400$ !
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
I'm going to pick up a Levo FS and really test the motor, I just finished the BULLS Enduro review but haven't published yet, you can hear the motor making interesting noises at higher RPM, here's a sneak peek for you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KcJvdSKBKsw.html
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
I think I would prefer the Specialized Turbo Levo in terms of how responsive the motor is, you can spin at higher RPM and get support than Yamaha, that's my big complaint... and the huge charger. I think a 3" tire is already awesome and the Levo weighs less, has a bottle cage, the hidden battery and excellent Fox suspension. The thing is, the Comp is completely sold out right now, Specialized only has Expert in the US and that's super expensive :/

Hi Brady, I've had a few over the years including a Pedego City Commuter, Easy Motion Neo Jumper, Haibike FSRX, Stromer ST1 Limited and am about to pick up a Specialized Levo FS to test out the Brose motor. I try to rotate between different types of bikes so I can learn about how their systems work (especially when the systems are used across many different bikes like Bosch, Yamaha or Brose).

hi, why are you do no not film reviews about DIY bikes? there lot of interest projects.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
Hi Art! sometimes I get the chance to see one and have built a couple of kits myself but it takes much more time and money... also, in some states the DIY bikes are illegal due to high speed and power so I don't want to mislead consumers or create a situation where someone gets hurt. There's a great forum called Endless Sphere where people chat about DIY and many people also do great videos! I'm not against it, just trying to represent the more mainstream bikes that are in Class 1, 2 or 3 that you can buy all setup from shops :)

Sometimes I save up and buy one or try one that a friend owns... I don't sell any ebikes or have a shop, I just try to get videos and information and I run this site and forums to help people: electricbikereview.com/ I'm happy to answer any other questions you have but sometimes don't get to all of the comments so apologies in advance if we miss

ElectricBikeReview.com thanks. Your reviews so helped me out. It's so cool that in the USA there are a huge assortment of eBikes, but I live in the freaking Kazakhstan ( I guess you didn't even hear about it) where only chinese and russian bikes which are bad. I want to order one from Europe, but shipping is soo expensive. I want something like Organic Transit ELF that you reviewed, to ride to school and take my sister with me (she's 11). Can you advise me something? P.S. Sorry for bad english.
@ElectricBikeReview
@ElectricBikeReview 8 лет назад
I have heard of Kazakhstan! But never been close or had an opportunity to visit. The ELF is very unique and cool, I hear they may open a shop in Europe somewhere. There is an enclosed bike called the Virtue Cycles Pedalist that's cheaper than the ELF and may be shipped international? I reviewed their other model called the Gondoliere+ recently here electricbikereview.com/virtue-cycles/gondoliere-plus/ will cover the Pedalist soon ;)

Thank you for talking about your knee issues. I feel and share your pain. That's far more common than riders who REALLY bomb down hills - lotsa people are full of shit about trail riding - it's a minority of users - and doing so on E-bikes? You see lightning strike first. I like this style for MEAN SHITTY City streets. However, wearing backpacks blows! Having a rack option is *essential* and Haibike needs to include bosses - NO excuses at this pricepoint. Weld on little bosses - what are we talking - a few bucks? Here is the thule which is most likely to work - but have no idea if it in fact does: www.thule.com/en-us/us/bike-accessories/rear-bike-racks/thule-pack-n-pedal-tour-rack-_-pp_100016 All in all, I love the bike design, but Yamaha?? Again, Bosch is proven to live thru YEARS of use. Yamaha does not have the Bosch track record and if Yamaha claims it does, they should include a 5 year warranty to back up their brag. Otherwise, I would go Bosch over Yamaha due to proven reliability despite the extra cost. I would rather pay for better quality up front than try to repair a relatively new Yamaha motor. And a front derailluer sounds like more to go wrong - and we are seeing fewer front derailluers on high dollar regular bicycles. "100 speeds"? Come on, Mr Reflecto sunglasses is selling crackhead nonsense. STFU, Haibike dude. Court, a dope slap was in order there. Memo to Haibike: BOSSES - include them - or supply a rack option you design for your own bikes. Who in hell does not have something to carry? Wearing backpacks on bikes is problem-plagued; backpacks make your back sweat at the contact point and raises center of gravity. Stupid move on an ebike, which naturally, has the power assist to carry cargo. All I ask is the ability to strap on a duffle bag - and I insist on rear rack for that or you dont get my money! Downhilling is way cool - I've watch tons o' vids, but highly hyped and done by few - that's reality - not bee-ess go-pro stunt footage by the Evil Knievels. Gimme a tough street fightin' bike that looks like this that I can roll over the potholed, streetcar track-filled, rutty streets of san francisco. Hard, random-holed pavement is a greater test than mere weekend warrior fantasies. /end rant C, please test these e-MTBs on city streets and take off in traffic just as you do on bucolic countryside trails. Thx, always enjoy your channel.

Yeah, those are the racks I was thinking of! They are expensive but at least they don't swivel and come loose like beam racks. I actually interviewed some adventure riders at the event and they use those EXACT racks... video coming soon. Personally, I also prefer Bosch at this point but it's great to see another competitor and the slightly lower price is cool... good competition ;) The 100 gear thing was a bit of a marketing stretch to me as well but Matt was generally cool and it's always nice to hear a different perspective. I invited him to help out to ride and tried to keep the hype from boiling over... As for the bosses, yeah, they should be at least on the hardtail models in my view (unless it really compromises frame strength and thus increases weight as they reinforce in other ways). The adventure riders said they don't wear packs and they carry 50+ lbs of gear on racks to stay cool when riding 60+ miles per day. Amazing... I think you're really going to love the interview. I'll plan to do more rides in traffic and just get more footage in general, I realize the ride time with this one was very limited. Got a really cull Bulls Nduro review coming up that I think you'll like, still no bosses though...

Nice thief magnet. It's a 5k toy, nothing else. Good luck using this as a practical transportation tool. You could count the days before it gets stolen. Expensive ebikes like this will be worth their asking price only if companies are bothered to add anti-theft features into their bikes and cities implement safer ways to secure expensive ebikes on the streets.
