52 year old male in excellent health. I have been on 1 mg Finasteride for 20 (twenty) years. Since it first came out. No breaks. Two years ago I added oral minoxidil at 2.5 mg twice daily. This really helped thicken my hair! I noticed nothing on topical minoxidil. Thinking that I must have developed a resistance to finasteride over 20 years of constant use. I had my dht levels tested and they are on the low end if the scale. Question: I am strongly considering replacing finasteride with .5 mg dutasteride one day a week. Do you think this might improve my hair? Thank you for the very informative video!
There are simpler ways to get the effect of oral Finasteride back. Like switch off-switch-on technique, taking it late at night, etc. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cPWmhkYEiUw.htmlsi=qgQ_M2oubeswM-rH
@@hairtransplantinindial'm sorry l'm not good at english but if l did understand, if finasteride stops working or if taking finasteride is not enough at slowing down hairloss, the solution would be to keep using finasteride everyday and taking dutasteride once a week (on sunday). Is that what you meant ?
Hi. I have been on finasteride for about 15 years. It’s really helped but I feel I had hit a plateau a few years ago. I still see hairs in the sink after washing. Do you feel I should move onto dutasteride ?
Thanks for the video! I just recently discovered your channel and had to subscribe immediately! I have taken 1mg of Finasteride for 2 years now after a hair transplant. When do you suggest to microdose it to say 0.5mg, 3x a week? I'm on TRT and don't suffer any particular sides, besides while working out taking it my body is less vascular than when I stop taking it, so it seems it prevents my body from burning as much fat or slows down my metabolism when I take it. That's why I was contemplating microdosing Finasteride. What are your thoughts?
Hi doctor, It would be great to hear from you what are the other precautions that AGA prone can take along with finasteride , minoxidil and ketoconazole shampoo and micro needling.. Like oiling , massaging , dietary tips All in all some daily good habits.. Thanks
Hello from the UK doctor! 🇬🇧 I'm 23 years old and have been on finasteride for 4 years now. Had a great reversal in the first 1-1.5 years but feel as if its slowly lost its efficacy up to year 3 (seeing noticeable miniaturisation). I tried dutasteride mesotherapy which didn't help either so my derm suggested dut .5 once a week with finasteride the 6 other days. I feel as if I'm experiencing some sexual side effects so I was wondering if coming down to .5 fin daily with .5 dut once a week would be a good idea? My hair loss is very strong, I'm 3 months into the dut 1x a week and I have nothing to show for besides a continuous miniaturisation at the hairline. Thank you for your help
Clearly you have been using the drug without break. You have not been switching off and then switching on: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cPWmhkYEiUw.htmlsi=PU6Pz-psIETJTa1w
Hello doctor, Thank you for imparting such an astounding and authentic information, i have seen many of your videos I have a question hope you would answer, i have been on finastride since last year the progression of baldness has slowed down but i am still losing hairs especially my hairline is completely miniaturised and lost the density also scalp is a bit visible, so can i start dutastride for 6 months to reverse the miniaturization and stop the hair fall, then i would restart finastride after 6 months, Kindly answer!
Thank you. Dutasteride should never be used as the first line of treatment. Does not make sense blocking all of your DHT. Hormones are there in the body for a reason. Try once a week Dutasteride 0.5 mg in place of that day's Finasteride dose, after consulting your local doctor.
Hey doc, great video as always and I love the analogies at the beginning of the video. However, I was wondering if you could shed some light and hopefully by doing so I stop shedding hair (I couldn't resist sorry!). I used Finesteride 1mg daily for a year and saw no results. My hair continued to thin and I was losing the same amount of hairs as I was before starting it. I then switched to dutasteride .5mg daily in August 2022 and have been on it until now. I noticed my hair felt a bit thicker when I switched for a little period however my hair is loss never stabilised as I was losing the same amount of hairs throughout this and continue to do so. This is visibly and physically apparent when looking and touching my hair. I've had blood tests done and my DHT level us 0.17 and all my other biomarkers are all well and healthy (no deficiencies). Am I just a rare case or have I missed something here? I have had 0 side effects by the way. Also have had PRP done every 3/4 months for the last 2 years also
Thanks for the message. You need to take medication intelligently without the body developing tolerance. I hope this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cPWmhkYEiUw.htmlsi=KPjJTYFlwZJ8otop
Great work. You are best hair doctor in the world. I have been taking Finasteride 1mg for 30 years. I am 51 years old. In the last few years I have only taken it 3 times a week. Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Unfortunately, the effect of finasteride wears off. Can I also take 0.5 mg of dutasteride on Sunday? I always take finasteride in the morning. I prefer to take finasteride and dutasteride in the evening.
Thank you. From now on I will always take finasteride and dutasteride late in the evening. What is the effect of both on men over 50 years old. Are both effective? Finasteride is said to only work up to 41-45 years of age.
Great video, quick question - I have been on Finasteride 1mg and Minoxidil for the past 6 years (from the age of 25) and its stabilised my hair loss greatly, and also had regrowth in the first 3 years, but in the last 2 years the effects are waning and I am losing ground in my temples as they are receding again. The top of my hair is still thick, and I want to get a temple hair transplant, but I also understand that I may have future hair loss in I stay on only Finasteride 1mg.. therefore have been considering adding 1 Dutasteride a week and Finasteride 1mg the other 6 days... My question is.. do I start using the 1 Dutasteride a week (with Finasteride 6 days) BEFORE I get my temple hair transplant?... or do I wait until AFTER my temple hair transplant when my new grafts have settled to add in the one Dutasteride a week to my Finasteride 6 days? If you could answer I would really appreciate it. Thanks
Can men plan for pregnancy while on Dutasteride doctor? If not, before how many months it is advisable to stop Dutasteride while planning to have a child?
Hi, I've been on Finasteride 1mg for 4.5 years now (responded well) but now losing ground. I've bought some Avodart 0.5 dutasteride but scared to take the plunge as I fear I may shed my hair / hairline. Whats rate of your clients that finasteride / dut once a week combination and see a hair shed? Is your success rate good overall? Thanks
If you’re taking dutasteride once a week and finasteride 6 days. Should you still stop taking Finastride for 2 weeks every 3 months? Do you stop dutasteride as well for 2 weeks every 3 months?
Dear Dr. Bhatti Hoping for your kind consideration I’m 29 years old male and 2 months before I went under hair implant surgery as my hairline was receding, then after a month the doctor prescribed me follihair tab at morning and 1mg finasteride at night and applicable minoxidil 5% twice a day on daily basis , then I came to know that Dutasteride is more potent and effective, so I added Dutasteride tab 0.5 twice a week from this week onwards, as I’m on my TRT cycle for bodybuilding so don’t want to take risk of DHT.. waiting for your suggestion .. Thank you
This video is really amazing and informative.. I really liked that how you explained everything in this video.. Thanks for sharing this video with us..
Hi doctor, One question - I want to add Dutasteride 0.5 a week to my finasteride regimen (6 days a week) as my progress on Finasteride has stalled over 4 years (I initially responded well to Fin), but I hear all of these anecdotal stories that adding Dutasteride once or twice a week to Finasteride can ruin your hairline... my question is in your practice when you have added Dut once a week with your patients, have you ever seen it make the patients hairline look worse than before? Or does it always improve patients hair...
Every patient is different and doses should be customised. There is no single dose that will fit all. Beware of exceeding the dosage and causing reflex hyperandrogenicity that can cause what you have been warned about in the 'anecdotal stories."
@@hairtransplantinindia Thanks 👍🏻, is reflex hyperandrogenicity common when adding just one Dutasteride a week? Or is it when someone switches completely to Dutasteride from Fin cold turkey..
You maked a mistake Dr. You said that dutasteride is stronger 100 times on type 2 than finasteride , and 3 times on type 1 , the reality is opposite than that.
Good day dr.. I was using minoxidil topical application and finasteride 1 mg for past 2 yrs under the guidance of an dermatologist. Dr told to switch minoxidil topical to oral minoxidil as he didnt find good result. And the oral minoxidil was continued around a year. For the past 4 months i stopped the oral minoxidil and was continuing with only finasteride as i felt palpitation whn i do works. But now my hairs r shedding which worries me a lot. Can my hairs be back to normal since i m still using finasteride?
Sir my doctor prescribed me dutasteride for a whole year after my transplant and I’m right now 23 yrs old..he said he will decrease the dose eventually…what should I do
Great Video Sir. I am using Finasteride 1mg on every other day. Can I use Saw Palmetto supplement on the alternate day (when I am not taking fin). Will there be any issue when I take both together? Thanks Sir
@@hairtransplantinindia tq so much sir for your replay sir already I consult dermatologist I will use minoxidil kera FM 5% and dutamax dutastride lotion both are at a time useing any side effects will come sir
Hello Doctor, My testosterone levels are 5.40 ng/ml and my estradiol levels are 27 pg/ml.Can I be a good candidate for finasteride? Should I start taking finasteride 3mg/ weeks.
Thanks for replying doctor. I am 21 years old and have a BMI of 20 and have no mental issues. I am always involved in physical activities. I am a 34 years old man, diffuse thinning on set since 18, who has been on 1mg finasteride daily since 28, it worked great for 4 years till my 32(less oily scalp and itch gone and some regrwoth). However it loses its efficacy 4 years later at my 32, balding accelerates and itchy scalp is back. Started 0.5mg Dutasteride daily ,now it has been 2 years(2024), duta works but still have occasional itchy scalp. Fear that duta loses its efficacy , should i try lower(customize) the dosage? I am very concerned about my hair and want to maintained it. Doctor please kindly give me some comments, great thanks~
Hello to everyone! I am on the 6th month mark of taking fin(1mg)and oral minoxidil(5mg)! I am 27 to 28 years old, i have already had a hair transplant (1800 grafts ,if i want to get a second one as the doc said me ,i will have almost 3000-3500 grafts available and also i will use beard and chest hairs")not so successful(but at some point the front hair view is a little better than before) but the results of the drugs are very good for my situation and due to the circumstances,,its clearly better than before,,i am gonna continue taking fin and oral minoxidil and i hope that it keeps getting better and better! I wanted to ask,,if fin works for me( i have aggresive hair loss, thats something the doctor said to me) then i must change to dut or continue to take fin and oral minoxidil as long as it works for me?? I am almost 28 years old as i said before,,thank you !!

I took finasteride 10 years and stop helping me. Than I tried dutasteride 5 times a week and got sides. Now I trying 6 times finasteride once a week dutasteride, also every day topical dutasteride 0.15%, and every 3 months dutasteride injections and still loosing hair. I think that only oral dutasteride at least 3 times a week can help me. What should I do if I got sides when I use oral dutasteride more than 3-4 times a week?
@@hairtransplantinindia I take also 2.5 oral minoxidil. I think that only oral dutasteride can help me in 3-4 times a week. When I took the oral dut 3-4 times, I took also 3-4 propecia pills. Used both finasteride & dutasteride for 5 yrs each. Dutasteride defiantly is more effective. My barber told me, my crown started filling in compared to being on finasteride for the previous 5 yrs. Although at the end of my dutasteride experiment (yr 4-5) , my thyroid TSH levels started rising to around 5-6. I was forced to start taking levothyroxin 25 mcg daily back in 2008 or 2009. Presently in 2023, I use 200 mcg daily. Q of the day is, did the use of finasteride & or dutasteride taken for 5 yrs each destroy my thyroid function alone? Or did the use of one or both drugs contribute to my thyroid failing along with predisposition in genetics? This maybe a rare side effect? Although, I have spoken to 1 doctor in this field, & she did agree that this is what medical science is discovering about the use of DHT blockers.
@@hairtransplantinindia Mm, my advice would be to research this subject more thoroughly Dr. Bhatti. I know there is literature on the internet that points to DHT blockers interfering with thyroid function. Maybe I am predisposed to a failing thyroid (hypothyroidism)? & dutasteride sped up the process?
@@hairtransplantinindia My blood pressure started raising in my 30's from 120's to 130's over 80. Took DHT blocker from 1999 (24 yrs old) to 2009 (35 yrs old) From appx 2007 to today, Blood pressure raised from normal 120's / 80 to 150's - 160's / 80 without medication to lower BP. Hopefully, DHT blocker long term effects does not raise blood pressure? Lastly, I attempted to get back on Finasteride a few yrs after quitting dutasteride back in 2009. The side effect hit me within 1 hr. I felt nauseous & basically terrible. Same sort of effect happened to me while using Dramamine in the Navy while out at sea for 1 two wk deployment & 1 month deployment. I cannot use dramamine any longer for motion sickness. Motion sickness medication will actually give me motion sickeness these days. Probably need to test the motion sickeness "patch" at this point
@@Northdallasguy00 Had no thyroid issues. But got tested in 2007-08. TSH level read 5 & felt terrible. Thyroid has been failing from appx 2010 when I had to get on meds to present day. I'm 19 years old doctor my hair was in norwood 2 i visited nearby clinic and they say you want to take GFC ...i asked about finasteride He said you never take finasteride If you take you will regret after the marriage How can i treat hair loss Doctor ?
Dear Dr. Bhatti Hello RU-vid community First of all, my situation: I received the following prescription from my dermatologist last week: Dutasteride Duo Spirig HC I bought the medicine accordingly from my local pharmacy; however, I found out that it is a mix of dutasteride 0.5mg and tamsulosin 0.4mg. I am familiar with the active ingredient dutasteride, but the active ingredient tamsulosin is new to me. I then read up on the active ingredient tamsulosin and came to the personal conclusion that it is not helpful for my hair loss. Now to my question: Can I safely take the prescribed medication 1-2 weekly while taking 1mg finasteride daily the remaining days ? As I am well aware of the side effects of dutasteride and finasteride, but the combination with tamsulosin raises question marks for me, I wanted to ask whether the active ingredient tamsulosin has any negative effects on the hair, the hair follicle, the hair structure and so on? I would be incredibly grateful for a professional answer so that I can start the medication. I have been taking finasteride for several years now. Thank you in advance.
