Hair loss after weight loss surgery is a VERY real concern. It's going to happen with ANY Bariatric surgery, so let's talk about it! I'm sharing my hair loss update with you as well as tips to maintain healthy hair and encourage hair regrowth during your VSG journey.

I had my surgery on 2/27/2023, I am down 73 pounds, and within the last month, the hair loss is in high gear. I expected it, I knew it was coming but I never dreamed it would be this intense. I have been living the Curly-Girl life for years, so my hair has been healthy and it always has been super thick, but I am so scared of what the future holds. Thanks for all of your videos, they have been extremely helpful and inspiring before, during and since having VSG.

It’s a very REAL thing and when it starts to happen, it can be aggressive! Hang tight with your CGL and biotin! It’ll come back!

My surgery is scheduled for June 30th. I already have hair loss and thinning hair due to previously being anemic, so losing hair post op is a huge concern for me. I even got some wigs for just in case. Love your videos!!!

This is totally normal and part of the process! I hope you’re getting in your protein and supplements. A red light therapy treatment would help, too. It’ll come back - it’s okay!

Thank you for your videos. I’m currently waiting to have VSG. My insurance requires I have three months of dietary counseling along with weight loss management with my primary care doctor. I’m on my second month now. I hope to get scheduled for surgery in late August or the beginning of September. I’m nervous but mostly I’m excited to get past the surgery. I’m also nervous about the hair loss. I have very thin straight hair. I take hair skin and nail supplements. But I had Covid twice and I lost so much hair both times. I can handle it being thin. I’m scared of getting bald spots. Thank you. 💞💞💞

Christina, it sounds like you’re doing everything to help with the future shedding. Make sure to get in that protein and maybe add in something like Vegamour?

I am 6 months post op and was going in to this hoping for the best. I had superhealthy hair down my back and now I am panicing a bit because I lost about half of it! I'm going to the hairdresser next week and hope a cute cut can sort of save me... I have lost 40 kg ≈ 90 lbs and are having big problems with getting my protein in. Good Ideas?

Without fail at month 5.5 my thick fine hair started falling out. I tripled my hair and nails vitamins, added vegamore, stopped blow drying. I would love if it could just stop. Not much left on the crown of my head😩 On the plus side it only takes a few minutes to air dry now!
