I'm so tired of hair stylist thinking they are the only people on earth that know how to do hair. All these rules and regulations have got to go. Then you abide by the rules, and these hoes can't even respect your time. I'm over it!
It’s 2022 and I STILL watch this from time to time! NO lies were told here!! They need to make ALL the beauty school students watch this as a part of their course!
This is why WIGS have put they ass out of business. Then we went natural. Then we called up RU-vid. I got a shampoo bowl installed in my Garage. My natural friends tip the water bill jar. I. shampoo and deep condition them on the weekend.
Yes Ladies I live in Vegas and the stylist community is one of two things. 1.Very Expensive or 2. Everything being highlighted in this video. I can’t do all this crazy stuff. So I went old school with a twist.
I brought a great book called the 'science of black hair' and learned to take care of my hair BETTER than any stylist. I remember the last time I went to a stylist (to colour my hair because I couldn't be bothered that particular day), I brought my own comb (as they tried to use a comb with broken teeth), my own shampoo, conditioner and heat protectant. I told how I wanted EVERYTHING done and watched her like a hawk and was like a drill Sargent and she got away with nothing. When it comes to my hair - I don't trust these bitches.
Quite as it’s kept, these stylists are the real reason the natural hair movement took off, women got tired of spending a bunch of money and their time in over booked salons. Then the fees are ridiculous-$200 for a wash trim and bump?! GTFOH
deontaer THANK YOU! That's exactly why. I got tired of being at the salon for 9 hours because 8 other people also have my appointment time. I also got tired of shitty stank attitude. I do my own hair now. I saved so much money and my weaves come out better than when their "professional" asses do.
I agree and when did a wash and flat iron start costing $50-$60?!?! I REFUSE. And they have the nerve to charge more if you are natural and/or have long hair. The good old school hairstylists are all dead or retiring and I don't like the new trend of stylists.
alicia8701 this stylist told me starting price for relaxer is $95, to trim my hair is $25, to style my hair is $35, and the use an eletric flat iron is an additional $25... I was like wtf!!!😡... I told her "ok thank you".... Like what is up with these stylist and their ridiculous prices??? Smh
alicia8701 why shouldn’t it cost more if you’re natural or have more hair?? It’s more work and takes more time than someone with relaxed and or/shorter hair.
All natural hair is not created equal so everybody natural does not have long or kinky hair. If you do hair, then you do all hair. Nobody made a difference back in the day. The price was the same for everybody. New age stylists are lazy. They (yall?) want to do the least amount of work for the most amount of money.
Haaaa that’s why I throw my natural hair in a bun and keep it pushing. I REFUSE to spend my hard earned money and have to sit for hours and hours for a style. #NOPE
I remember this woman told me for a sew in it was $250 since I wasn’t using her hair. Like she forgot I went to her when she was doing them $70 sew ins before she even got in a shop😴
I’ll never understand how a woman can go to the same beautician for years and years on end, yet never learn the techniques and ways to styler her own hair. I didn’t attend cosmetology school, I attended college instead, and I went to the same barber for years. All those times I was in his chair and he was cutting I was taking mental notes. I started going to him when he was fresh out of hair school and by the time I quit going to him he treated me as though he no longer needed me because he had built his clientele, but thats only partly true; We no longer needed each utha(NeNe Leakes Voice)! I had been a loyal client for almost a decade, but the moment we had a disagreement over scheduling and I began to felt that he was shïtting on me,, a💡went off. I hopped my happy a$$ in the car and found my way to the nearest beauty store. If I added just how much I’d pay him for 2 months of haircuts, I could buy all of the equipment and supplies he used to cut my hair. Baby I bought 3 different types of clippers, plugged them Bîtches in the socket, repeated everything he did whenever I was in his chair and at the end of that experience have given myself a dam haircut. The stuff I wasn’t too good at, I brought my a$$ right down to the RU-vid watched a few videos and learned those techniques in minutes! I even cut my hair better when I’m in my creative space by watching old Funky Dineva videos like I did back when I was in college; Dineva be fussing the background and I be cutting in the front 😅😂🤣 Am I as good as my barber was? No, but I gotten really good; So much so to the point that I get compliments on it and even other people have trusted me enough to cut theirs. Cosmetology is a skill just like anything else and it can be learned and ultimately mastered if you’re willing to invest in your own supplies and take back control of your time by learning it. I quit going to my barber almost 3 years ago and I’ve easily saved thousands of dollars in discretionary income and countless hours in wasted idle barbershop time, so in acquiring this skill, I’ve reclaimed my time and and personal freedom. You can always make more money, but you can’t get your time back and cosmetologists who are inconsiderate of it end up pushing your life back because your constantly pushing the important things behind to accommodate them. I understand that cutting and styling are too different things, so women I can sympathize with you, but just like Dineva said, cosmetology isn’t fricking rocket science, and I’ve never pay anyone to disrespect me or disrespect my time. All that to say that if I was a woman, before I even would try to work a job, I would learn to do my own hair, my own makeup, and my own whatever else I needed to learn so I make my own self look cute before I step into the workplace and ultimately have control over my own life & look! That’s a boss mentality 😉
I HATE THEM!!! They are also rude as hell. Why do I have to have my natural hair washed, conditioned and detangled before I get to your salon? What is the purpose of you?
Barbers aren't much better. Let's talk about how after you've become a regular, suddenly the quality goes down. Before you were spending 45 mins cutting my hair. Now I'm done in 20, my line-up looks like Mr. Magoo did it, and I still have hair on my neck.
wilsonajames Say it! Barbers can be very unprofessional. It irks me to have an appointment, only to arrive and be told I have to wait through three other haircuts. Not this one. In the cell phone era we live in, I refuse to spend more than an hour in a barber shop. If an appointment can't be kept on time, a call should be made to adjust the time.
Mr Magoo!!!! DEAD!!!!! We got one near us just closed down. Got too "big for your britches" now your gone!!! Latin barbershops are raking in the money. Black need to learn BUSINESS skills and customer service.
Tes7000 my time limit is 15 minutes. After that I'm gone. If I arrive and someone is in the chair during my time, and I know the cut will take over 15 minutes to complete, I leave. The barber is taking 100 calls anyway during the cut so make it 101 and say you are running behind.
Roses 4me they forget the business side and only concern themselves with street credibility, battling trophies, and instagram likes. Don't get me started on how they jump from shop to shop every 4 to 6 months.
Along with the look of long suffering hesitation. I used to go get my hair braided and I remember that the owner (and usually the lady who would braid my hair) would come up with all kinds of excuses on why she couldn't do this one particular style on me (For instance, I wanted Senegalese twists) "it hurts my wrists" "it takes a long time" "you have so much hair, it'll take forever" Bitch, I'm paying you AND I bought you and the other lady who is doing my hair lunch. I only went to her around three times and stopped, because it just always felt like she was doing me a favor by braiding my hair. And my hair wasn't even that long. It was hitting my shoulders. If I were to come in now with it halfway down my back, I wonder what would she say.
Yessss! Especially these natural hair stylist that charge you any were from thirty to fifty dollars for a damn 'wash n go' and the next day your hair is a sticky flaky mess! 🤦🏾♀️ For all of that I could have did my own hair from watching these RU-vid videos.
Linda Lynn Hair dressers think they'll kings & queens of the NILE , this AINT AFRICA , I have SHORT HAIR ( lemme repeat SHORT HAIR ) when I was younger my grandmother tooK to get my hair permed & NAN ONE TIME did I get an "APPOINTMENT " , my nana ( grandmother ) would take me to the dresser & get my hair permed & the dresser would take THREE & A HALF HOURS : 1. I get there about 10am 2. They put this HOT CREAMY CRACK on my hair which would BURN MY SCALP 3. The faucet would be 3 1/2 FEET AWAY from the TENDERHEADED CHAIR ( see number 2 ) 4. Then my CREAMY CRACK would DESTROY MY SCALP 5. Back then when there WAS NO INSTAGRAM I'd STILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE COWS MILK TO GIT MY HAIR DOWN 6. If I gotta do things DONT BOOK ME LATE ( after 4pm ) 7. Don't have me talk about how to book an appointment for 4pm , when you ain't open until...2PM 8. Don't practice ur NXT APPOINTMENT ON MY HAIR 9. Don't give me excuses that you can't make a SHORT HAIRSTYLE 10. I'd get promised NO PROMISES about how LONG ITD TAKE FOR ME TO GET THE DANG THING DONE..just tell me WHEN U GETTING ME FIXED & DONT COMPLAIN
When's the last time you seen a hairstylist wash their clients hair? They want to come already washed&blow dried , then want to charge you 100s of dollars. No mam 🙅🏽
Ms. Ross that deserves a standing ovation and you got my vote. I also hate when they ask you to text or email them for questions and appointments but take 6 mos. to get back with you. But you see them on social media posting, taking pics and replying to comments while you sitting waiting on a one word response.
Lmao I love this ! And the ones that do hair at They House kill me when they be like don’t bring extra company but they have 7 people in they house running in and out the damn door lmao
Or they non driving no car ass want you to take them to three different restaurant to get something to eat and you had your ass at they house for damn near 11 hours!
You forgot to mention not everybody have weave, want weave or need weave. Some of us like our own hair but these new fangled weaveologist don't know the first thing about doing real hair. My hair is thick and long. No I do not want you doing my curls with no ceramic flat irons. Shit look pretty at first but it don't last. Give me some Marcel Iron curls any day. Hair do last two weeks. Aint nobody got time for that.
These young stylists tell you to come with your hair already washed. Sis, the part of going to salon is the relaxation of being in the bowl getting washed.
Tell me why it's 2022 and on top of all this craziness.... They're charging "parting fees" while braiding hair because it's "hard". Also charging "squeeze in fees" when no one is being squeezed anywhere lol. And lastly, pregnancy fees. Like why are you charging extra because you're with child? And how are you going to braid hair w/o parting it?🤣
DINEVA, you got me 🔊😆HOLLERING at work! Girl, I had to look at this video 3 times to make up for what I missed by LMAO. You should've worn your "angry wig" for this one😂😄😁
Baaabbyyy I hollered the entire time. I wash, steam, & condition my own natural hair. When i wanna get "fancy shampoo" I go to the beauty school & pay $25 for a old Sunday school bump & curl.
It’s these new school folks who do this deposit shit. I found me a nice 59 year old Black beautician who is familiar with natural hair. For a cut and blowout it’s 25-30 but because of the customer service (she only has one customer at a time and it’s her own shop) I tip her 15-20. Not just for the customer service because it’s nice to be the only person in the salon and NOT be double booked. It took me awhile to find my current beautician but I’ve been with her for a year and she has NEVER double booked me or another person. These new “stylist” are not cosmetologist.
Thank you for calling these people out on these bundles. They getting it from aliexpress wholesale and charging retail. Skip that and go straight to the source ladies. I haven't been to a salon in about 8-9 years. I make my wigs or buy them. Thank you RU-vid stylists for teaching me techniques.
Another story, one time I texted the girl to braid my hair and it took her a week to respond. Then she had to nerve to ask me "what day that fall on?"...meanwhile using an iPhone...bitch look at your calendar what you mean? Long story short, she lost a potential customer. I went to the Africans and got some Goddess braids.
I keep telling these hairstylist and barbers!! The EASIEST way to grow AND KEEP you clientele is to BE ON TIME!! That will impress me more than anything!!
I was sitting around with half done goddess locs FOR A WEEK! The stylist "couldn't" finish, and asked me to come back the next day. Then she got sick, then her child, then her car broke down. I marched myself down to the salon and there she was flat ironing someone's hair! Lyin, just didn't want to finish. Girl, I pulled that bun down and went loco, "LOOK HOW YOU LEFT ME! I WANT MY HAIR AND MY MONEY BACK NOW!!!!" She was so scared and embarrassed she gave me my money, my hair, and an extra $25 for gas! Here's the catch, I called a sista film Craigslist. Homegirl finished up my head for pennies (I paid her way more than she was asking), came to my house, was on time, and was polite! Forget these salons!
I been done with stylist. Only my mama can touch my head. All these tutorial videos are slowing down they business anyway. ...lashes cornrows coloring etc....
When my daughter was in her senior year of high school she learned how to master weaving and wig making by watching RU-vid applying makeup and lashes like a professional! She is in college now and when I tell u she is cleaning up off them dorms! With No license these stylist better get it together quick cause more and more woman ain't got time for the bullshit no more
Keashi Clemons Absolutely!!!!, I learned how to to braid just by Watching RU-vid and I got me a cosmetology doll with hair so I can practice daily. I recently taught myself how to braid with the braiding extensions 😇. And this is my senior year of high school to lol
You really preached on this one!!! Another thing I hate is when I spend weeks admiring someone’s work on social media, only to book them and mine comes out looking like complete TRASH!! And it’s like they know their work wasn’t good, because they didn’t ask you to snap a picture for them to post 🙄.That’s why I had to stop fooling with these girls
You aint NEVER lied biitch! 👏🏾👏🏾😆😩😆😂 the Aliexpress comment is Everythang! I been got hip to the game yearrrrrsss ago.they buy off aliexpress, have it ship directly to their home or shop. Inspect it, put it in their own labels and bags and ship it to the customers or have it their at the shop when they get ready to do their client's hair. Smh charge you damn near 3xs the amount they bought it for when it only cost the, $100 for 3 bundles and a closure 😆😆😆 ooooohhh and thats why they say "processing time" is 2 wks before they ship it to you because of all that shit they gotta do that i just mentioned. Dont be charging no damn astronomical prices for some shit anybody has access to, smh they be on some insane shit these days. I try to tell me mom thay ALL the time when she wanna get hair from an online hair shop.
You are right these stylists are way too cocky. Like I can’t find another one down the road . I went to a new stylist recently because my usual was unavailable and she had the nerve to ask her apprentice to do it because she double booked. I got up ready to go then she was suddenly available 😒😒
Right. ALL the hair comes from India. It is dipped to strip the color to make it "blonde". If not from India, it is synthetic, yaki, animal, etc. All these "fancy names" is bullshit to get your money. PREACH!!!!
This is what I love about Funky Dineva. He can read, gather and set a b@tch straight. All this truth he speaking. I've been getting my hair done since 12 years old in a salon and I've done had my fair share of trifling stylist.
Most hairstylists are extremely ungrateful to their clients.. dnt speak, dnt apologize for being LATE, canceling or anything.. girl they feel like it’s a blessing to be in their damn chair.. NO bitch it’s a blessing to get my money & 20% tip each loyal visit
I heard of a stylist putting you under the dryer 2-3 hours so they can leave and go take care of business, pick kids up ,grocery shop,go pay cellphone bills, ect And just tell thier assistants to keep you stalled under the dryer smh
Some of these hair stylists lost their damn mind. They want you washed, blow dried, and more. Then wanna charge you 100 & up and think they deserve a tip. That’s straight up unprofessional and a disservice because it’s some people out here that are grown and don’t know how to wash their hair properly neither blow dry it. Also last time I checked I thought it was apart of the overall salon experience. These kitchen stylists also mess up the game as well they only know how to make wigs, do crazy colors and make your hair fall out.
Hey Dineva Girl Dante had me round there being his lova and secrater but you forgot another thing they telling you to come to the salon pre washed 🙄🤦🏾♀️ and then wanna charge a arm and a leg I think the fuck not 🙅🏾♀️ they chair will be emptier then a girl refrigerator waiting on her food stamps to hit fuckin round with me 🤷🏾♀️
Finally somebody spoke on it! These hairstylist slipping. Im getting my foot in the door with hair this year because I'm fed up. Swooping up on a client near you!
Instagram Stylists! No Ma’am! I’ve been with mine for 21 years. Granted I live in the DMV and not ATL, but they do it here, ESPECIALLY the young girls and the one I went too, WASTR OF MY TIME!!!!! If I can’t talk to you, or a human, you WONT have my business!! Weird and sad to say that I’m old school and I’m only 36!
PYT29 where do you go? I live in Md and I can’t stand these stylists. I’m a natural girl but I do everything with my hair but I can’t even find someone that will even wash and deep condition my hair
I totally agree! I finally found a stylist I like (Hey Dionne of Krush Hair Studios in Suitland MD) and she still answers her phone and always calls back!
Dineva you forgot they ask you to come at 12:30 in the afternoon and soon as you get in they wash you and then you're waiting 3 to 4 hours to get in the chair. I DO MY OWN HAIR!! 💯💯💯 Dineva you're speaking BIG FACTS 💯💯
I'm halfway through listening and I hope and pray to God he talk about these b*tches that want you to wash your hair before you come in or claim they won't do unpermed/natural hair...Bish will you deduct $30 dollars? Cuz thats half the damn service right there...And also! These bishes that be eating taking they lunch break while they working on your head. You need to designate a lunch time and dont take ANY clients during that time. That sh*t is unprofessional as well.
I know this is older, but OMG! This was THE TRUTH and HILARIOUS! "I don't care if my edges on my back....give me a swoop bang!" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. I had to play this twice. Been wearing wigs, but decided to try a salon and the price was ridiculous. Text one lady and no reply for days even though on her ad it said text. This video was much deserved!
Just cos they can glue down a lacefront they got "walking on water like Jesus" complex!!! We need to go back to the days when we did our shit ourselves! #get the ultra sheen and curling irons out ladies!! 😂😂😂😂!
