You described my situation--can't tolerate those clips. What a genius idea you have come up with!!! And you were absolutely right about turning the clips around so they grab the hair without putting tension on it.
Thank you so much for giving us invaluable information. It is so helpful to use halo instead of clips. So much more comfortable. I love what you do with your topper. You look so pretty with the blended hair.
Looks wonderful! Thank you for all the tips for those of us who have very, very sensitive scalps and cannot use clips, adhesives, etc. You are not only lovely but talented! What an amazing job you did on altering this wig to a topper!
Made me some toppers too, some I cut the nape off a wig, and some I sewed on a wig cap with closure and one hair bundle hair like a wig. I always cut bangs in. Sometimes I have clips, most times I attach velcro inside with tape adhesive, this is very comfortable for me too and holds on. Great that you show us how creative you are, customizing the piece for you. Thank you.
can you show us how you do the velcro with tape? are you talkinga bout that hair velcro that barbers use or taping in real velcro ? Ive been trying to make toppers from wigs and ruined each one so far. Im terrified now to try again. I ruined 2 and in the middel of ruining another. I dunno what im doing wrong. i also go the elastic wire for jewelry and dunno how to get the fasteners or IF you can use microbeads on those ends. i keep ruining all my hairpieces trying to make them smaller or trying then to make them into toppers.just hair everywhere in the trash. I cant evne make ponytail extensions from them...
Best video on toppers. Thanks so much! Excellent with the double strands of jewelry elastic. I am just like you (same hair color etc,) and at the stage of using my 'cheap halloween wig' first!
Very nice. I've done this with a few high-end wigs that I purchased on sale, and they turned out great! It's much easier to wear. No worries about slippage and much more comfortable and cooler. So pretty!
I don't remember If I Mentioned that you can put that elastic over the wig as a headband and blend it in the hair so it's stays invisible. But it is also an extra security of the topper.
Yes, I can't use clips, they not only damage my hair, but also create a headache for me. That is why I am constantly searching for the best way to attach the topper. So far, jewelry elastic trick is the best for me.
That looks really good! I do this all the time with my wigs. I live in Florida and I just don’t like wigs, too hot and I don’t like anything on the back of my head. I love what you’ve done. Like you, the clips bother me so I’m going to try it your way. What kind of elastic did you use?
I used jewelry elastic. It is nice thickness and doesn't dig into the scalp loke regular fishing line. And it is pretty cheap. And the beads to secure elastic are also very cheap. Watch my latest video, in that video I show a different way usong this elastic to secure the topper. I think it works much better.
I cannot find that little green clamp that you adjust the fishline with-been to beauty supply, wig supply. Do you by any chance have a picture of the package they came in-what they are actually called. If you can help me with this, I would do appreciate it. You have ingenious ideas. Thank you so much!
What if i have baby fine hair? Will the cilppers move or fall since i have vereverv thin fine hair. And wii toppers be made according to pattern sur messure. Will help the person being made controble mesured specifically made for my head
In your case, I would use topper grip. Then you don't have to clip anythibg to your hair. This grips are made from such fabric tgat it doesn't slide on head, The only thing is in such case it is better to install the clip at the front hair line, so it can be clipped to the grip. Here is where I bought topper grip : www.google.com/search?q=topper+grip&oq=topper+grip&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i512l2j0i22i30l9.3918j0j1&client=ms-android-tmus-us-revc&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
They sell these guys in Beauty Supply stores,. I don't know how they are called. But when I was purchasing them, I just explained what I needed to the sales associate. They usually keep those behind the counter, they are sold in a tiny box, around 200 or more in that box.
@@Mrsnexochy can you tell me if the fastener you got is like a microbead/ and you are using plyers to squeeze it tight on the end of your elastic? or is it another kind of fastener.?
