They did the twins SO DIRTY for no reason. I'd be absolutely livid

i hate how obviously the whole "natural hair is messy and unprofessional" stereotype has completely dominated the model industry its gross they looked so beautiful before :(

Why did they get rid of almost all of the curly hairstyles? Did they not want to deal with it or something? They looked so much better before!

The way the hair stylist just ignored Cherish and was like, “You’ll be fine, you’ll be awesome,” and walked away as she was talking 😂😂😂💀💀💀

First episode has a lot in common with cult initiations. Break down their wills by changing their appearance in an uncomfortable way and simultaneously the strength of their identity, tell them they're "boss" for doing what they're told (really manipulative, even if unintentionally), then have them pose completely exposed? That's major psychological power play stuff to make them lose their sense of autonomy and self-ownership. That's not true empowerment... very much the opposite. Poor girls. :(

Let’s be honest. High fashion models don’t have pink and purple hair. They need to have natural coloured hair to be a “blank slate” for designers and not take away from the clothing.

Remember when the makeovers were supposed to make them look more model-esque? It feels like now they are just changing them for the sake of changing them. And while I absolutely love purple hair, it's really not suitable for a model because it is way too specific. Wigs exist for a reason.

They've managed to turn nearly every modelesque contestant into a middle schooler on picture day.

The pink and purple hair looks like a 14-year-old got bored one weekend and decided to dye her hair in her bathroom with her friends. The girl they gave straight across bangs to went from looking like a model to looking like the best friend of the main character in a TV show set in high school. And then they just destroyed several girls' gorgeous curls for no reason.

I’m not happy with this one. Every single one looked way more model-like and beautiful before.

I feel so bad for Tash. She was crying over her appearance; they literally gave her dysphoria. Even after she expressed concern. They knew what they were doing and there was not good reason for it.

God I wish America's Next Top Model would ask Brad to be the hairstylist. I'd actually watch it!

completely agreed with everything. So sad and really, as a "curly girl", I find it a bit insulting that they straightened ALL of them.

I’m a natural redhead, and I’ve never dyed my hair. So many times when I’ve gone to a salon for a cut, they want to keep some to try to match to a dye color for a client. I understand why the girl was so upset. A natural redhead does have lots of different natural colors which you can’t replicate.

II feel like the girly twin could have just had some laid edges, maybe shave the hair down and bleached, would've still worked with her personality and facial features. They literally gave her an NBA player hairstyle

i can give some context on the redhead's concerns: from childhood we're often told not to dye our hair and told over and over from a young age that our hair will never grow in the same color if we dye it, or it will turn grey. she's not afraid of changing color, she's afraid of loosing her natural tone later.

I’m sorry, but whenever they say, “If you’re wanting to be a model, you’re going to have to constantly change your look.” I don’t see Bella or Gigi Hadid changing their hair left and right. All those models use wigs if their hair is drastically different!!!

I really think it's messed up that they made the girly twin wear a more masculine hairstyle. Black women are constantly masculinized and defeminized (see for example any Black female athelete) people claim Serena Williams is a man etc. So to see a Black woman whose identity is so clearly tied to femininity and then they purposely strip it from her to make her upset, is especially cruel to me. We already know this from past seasons, but this show hates Black models and often mistreats them just to get a rise out of them and that's just wrong. Tyra especially would cut ppl's natural hair knowing how much their hair meant to them.

As a natural redhead I COMPLETELY understand the redhead freaking about her hair. Like hers, every single strand of my hair is a different color. It's impossible to get this color from dye. And SO MANY people comment on how they think it's pretty and how people try to get it from a bottle and they just don't get there. It's so easy to ruin red hair. I made the mistake of getting highlights when I didn't get them naturally as much in the summer now and I'm so bummed with how long it's taking to get back to my fully natural color. That poor girl was 100% justified in being concerned. If they wanted her to be a redhead, they should've left her color alone. Give her a dramatic cut if you want to switch it up but why dye a gorgeous natural redhead to a fake flat red?

I am upset that they got rid of the before and afters but at least they don't have the trash befores that look like my middle school yearbook pictures.

People in the fashion industry don’t even take models seriously from America’s Next Top Model. Only 3 of them made it big through the entire series.

I love how Rita pretends she's an icon, like...honey, Gwen Stefani? Taylor Swift? The queens of blonde hair and red lips. Rita isn't as important to the music and fashion industry as she thinks she is

It seems like you wouldn't want an extreme hairdo if you are a model. Shouldn't you walk in with a clean look so they can imagine you in different looks?

Notice how the blonde girls had cute hair styles, the bleached fringe was nice, but pretty much all the curly girls had their hair flattened and straightened, like they were somehow being whitewashed -I feel like ANTM still doesn’t want to accept natural Black beauty and it was really obvious here.

She doesn’t always have to pose as a girlie girl to have feminine hair… they very intentionally gave the more masculine twin a feminine look and the feminine twin a more masculine look in order to create drama when they could’ve so easily just switched it to match their personalities. She has every right to be pissed off especially since they just made her hair look way worse than it was in the beginning.

How many times is Rita gonna say "I wanna look where they're like *that's her!*" like girl, you're not making them special by saying the same stuff to every girl lmao

Hi Brad✨, I really recommend watching a makeover episode of Germany’s next topmodel! The girls don’t know witch hairstyle they’re getting beforehand and can’t look at themselves during the process😬 needless to say there’s a lot more drama

I think instead of having the models like Tara or Rita pick the styles these girls should have for their hair, they should have a famous hairstylist choosing them. Models have zero knowledge about hair. I mean yeah they get their own hair styled and they get their makeup done, but that doesn't mean that THEY know how to do hair or they know what looks good on certain face shapes, skin tones, eye colors etc... These makeups would come out so much better if they just had real hairstylist choosing what the looks are instead of just following what they're told to do by the model host.

You should do the Australia’s Next Top Model seasons - some of the girls ended up with genuinely baller careers, and I’d be interested on your take on the difference

I'm a natural redhead, & I'm in the process of growing out my balayage. It's taking FOREVER & it was really only on the bottom of my hair. I can't imagine someone making me do all over color 🤦‍♀️artificial red is always so pink compared to my natural hair. I would've quit the show if I were Cherish 😂

As someone with natural curly / wavy hair, this makes me so mad that they change so much of that! People's natural hair texture is absolutely gorgeous!

The thing with Cherish is that her hair was virgin and each strand was a different color. I understand she should have known that each season they do a makeover but i’m sure she didn’t think it was going to be dyed. I feel for her because she got eliminated that same episode, so they ruined her beautiful hair just to eliminate her.

Am I the only one annoyed that everyone was telling a dark skinned black woman how to feel about her femininity. When black women ESPECIALLY DARK SKINS are constantly called men and discriminated against for not fitting Eurocentric beauty standards? And on top of that they made her seem crazy just because she had a breakdown. I’m my opinion she was rightfully upset. That insecurity was pushed onto her by beauty standards that don’t apply to bw. It honestly made me so sad :/

I get where Cherish is coming from, but I feel like people try to scare redheads into never dying their hair because they're gonna "ruin" it. As a redhead I would dye my hair just cause people would tell me not to, I've done blacks, browns, other reds, have bleached parts of my hair. When I shaved my head it all came back the same colour my hair naturally was, I don't think hair dyes ruins your genetics so therefore once it fully grows out you should have your natural colour back.

I'm not a red head but I have natural highlights and different shades to my hair too. Hair stylists have told me before that women pay good money to have my hair color, it's unique & as someone who used to color my hair all the time I've come to appreciate my natural hair color. So I totally get where she's coming from, I will never dye my hair again.

India (the one with the purple hair makeover) has talked about it on her youtube channel! She said it ended up damaging her hair with how often she had to re-dye it (even post-filming because there were certain promo events they wanted her to attend with purple hair still) and how she stuck with a more natural color after the show since it's better in the actual modeling world if you want to get booked.

It's actually rude though when someone says "this is important to me and my gender identity to have a certain QUALITY hair style (aka: girly, androgynous etc.) and they pick the opposite. That seems abusive honestly. Peoples gender identity and expression is nothing to fuck around with in terms of their MAIN "SIGNATURE" look. Why would you pick something that would make someone feel inauthentic to their gender expression? That ain't it for me.

i can totally understand cherish tho. Red hair is so unique and the fact that our bodies produce this exact shade of red is just amazing. yes she is in a competition but shes still human and can be bumped about sth. hair color and texture is unique to every person and some people dont like changing it period and also this is a lot different from her natural color

I won't lie, I hated basically all of those changes. Also, who's gonna tell that poor girl that hair dye fades and hair grows back 😂

They took what was unique in almost all these women, and looked for the best way to bury these traits.

As a natural redhead…. I get it. The one time I messed up my color and just went with the wrong TONE (too cool) when enhancing my red, I nearly had a meltdown. It’s so freaking hard to get back to your natural color. It took hours in the salon-correcting a semipermanent-and about a year of growth for mine to be back to “normal.” I like the richer color, but her before color seemed more high fashion. None of these makeovers were high fashion or editorial IMO.

The idea that being a model means you have to sacrifice your identity is just awful. The word "model" means like.. an example that others can strive to imitate to better themselves. Why do we want to prop people up after telling them to give up who they are and what they believe in? I wish the modeling industry was about picking cool people and letting them represent themselves. I'm an artist and a lot of artists will agree with me that it's hard to be into what you're doing and make good art when you're out of sync with yourself. You have to act fake and then with enough of it, you feel fake to your core. I just think it's sad that the modeling industry is about making people change to something they don't feel comfortable in and then saying that's beautiful. Okay, yeah, they look visually beautiful, but it's not beautiful to do that to someone, to make someone feel that way. The pain underneath is hidden as they sacrifice their own identities to fit someone else's standards... that's not what I want my kids to look up to. They're people, not dolls. The show should change for the girls, not the other way around. Think how amazing it would be to explore them as individuals and bring out what naturally makes them beautiful, and let them be the way they feel beautiful and show that to people. Genuine beauty - and about more than just their looks. THAT's what should be modeled for others to see and strive to be like. People say "be yourself" and "stand up for what you believe in" yet when some of these girls try to, they're literally mocked and shunned. They signed up for it? So what? They have the right to challenge mistreatment.

ANTM makeovers are absurd. I worked as a professional fashion model for 5 years (until last year) in Barcelona and London and they never, never, NEVER touched the color of my hair. They used a wig whenever they wanted to change my hairstyle. A model must be a blank canvas. The more natural, the better. You can't work as a fashion model with pink or colorful hair. Maybe as a commercial model, but definitely not as a fashion one.

Ok so I’m a natural redhead… and I got into hair modeling after being scouted when I was 18-19. The first time, they used me for up do’s and cutting techniques and refused to dye my hair since it was Virgin red hair. (L’Oréal) The second time I modeled for them, the did a hair glaze that definitely changed the color, and I was all for it. The glaze kept the color variations on every strand in place but just uniformly darkened and brightened them, and it looked so good…. The third time they dyed it a dark cherry red- my natural is a level 7 copper red, and it ended up about a level 4 dark cherry red…. Hair grows back- since then I’ve had purple, gray/silver, bright red, bubblegum pink, magenta, blue, platinum and again back to the red family colored hair… it’s fun to change it around, and I hope she can learn that it can be fun… I get her hesitation but hair grows back :)

Brad you should do a series where are you find some of the former models from the show and give them a makeover that they deserve PLEASE BOOST THIS SO HE CAN SEE IT💕

They really did everyone dirty this season. Whoever chose those looks should be fired. It's one thing to do something "for the drama," it's another to trash people's hair and purposefully sabotage their career. Tyra was at least trying to elevate their look, even when they didn't like it, and she was willing to admit when she made mistakes and get them fixed (except the gap widening which remains inexcusable). Not to mention, for the industry, when you're trying to break in you do NOT want a signature look, especially one that's too edgy, modern, or high maintenance. You're meant to be a blank canvas and when you prove you have the chops, then you get to dictate your style. Also, going to say, Cherish was totally correct to hate her look. There was no need to do anything but possibly darken her brows and give her a couple layers. Redheads STILL get bullied for their looks, and leaving her hair alone would have been a positive message for the audience. But, hey, at least we got some drama?

The red head knew she was getting a makeover but getting your hair dyed for the first time is so stressful when you have a unique hair color.

I do feel for the redhead. I love my natural hair colour, there are all kinds of browns and reds in there. Lots of hair stylists have complimented it and said they couldn’t bottle this colour, and warned me to never dye it because i would never get it back.

I do have a personal beef with antm always shaving the darker girls hair. Like Tash said it does make someone present more masculine and the idea that dark skinned girls are more masculine is already attached to us regardless of hairstyle.

These makeovers are ENTIRELY to get reactions and content for the show. 80% of those changes would never work in a "real" model environment. Like the girl with the purple hair for example. Agencies want natural and predominantly long hair - so clients can change it to their liking.

I’m like that tiny % of people that gets anxiety form changing my hair. I dyed my hair once & I’m terrified to every change it. That being said that girl knew damn well the show would touch/ change her hair so u signed up for that 🤷🏽‍♀️

So we moving to Britain’s or Australias next top model…? Coz this series cant stop😂😭😭

Brad, you are so genuinely sweet. I was laughing when sally was dismissing the girl’s concerns about her red hair, but you made me think about it from her perspective. All she had to do was comfort her instead of taking down to her, you’re so right.

Brad you speak the truth when you say it’s hair- it’s not that serious. I used to break down in tears when my hair didn’t turn out the way I planned. I’m 42 now and just decided to get my hair colored blush/rose gold. It turned out cotton candy pink! I wasn’t so sure about it at first but after washing it a few times it faded to the soft blush tone which I love 💕
