I shaved my head last night. I was so sick of having handfuls of hair fall out from medications I take to keep my disease in check. I freaking love it! I've never felt more liberated. My husband came in and just kissed my head. My kids helped shave the back. Thank you for being such a supportive ray of sunshine. My hair is on it's way to wigs for kids.

Frankly I never felt more feminine than when I shaved my head. It makes all your features pop, even without makeup. I loved it so much.

My hair is incredibly thick. It was like 2 inches below my shoulders. It's a pain in the ass to keep up so I dont over heat. I also am prone to migraines and had a car accident in 2015 that had major scarring. I always wanted to see my scars, but everyone told me to not shave my head. So a couple weeks ago, I went for it. I LOVE IT. It was emotional to see my scars. My headaches are so few now. I didnt use any clips on the buzzers, and buzzed it back down again today. I feel stronger and more powerful than I did before.

I just had my head shaved yesterday - I'm 74 with natural gray hair and I'm rockin' it. It is so liberating not to have to bother with hair, it's cool and comfy and I love it.

I'm so tempted to just go for a short pixie now without telling anyone. It's either I don't care anymore or it's the 2 am urges.

I shaved my head 5 years ago, it was liberating! I've always loved the feeling of a shorn scalp and was always petting my own head. It was also nice having hair that dried in 5 minutes vs. 3 hours. There's no need to be emotionally attached to your hair, it grows back!

I've been watching a lot of "Girls shaving their head" videos lately. I've always loved my hair. As a person who never liked her body, my hair has always been my safety anchor, the only thing I liked about my physical appearance. I've been looking a lot of these videos lately because I'm trying to accept, sooner or later, I'll have to to this, since I'm fighting against brain cancer and am currently doing radiotherapy and chemo. I don't really think I have a nice head shape and now I also have an enormous scar after craniotomy. I gravitate around those kind of videos because I need to find courage and understand it's not a bad thing to shave my head, even tho I feel like my hair kinda defines who I am and give me a little self confidence and helps me tolerate what I see in the mirror. I'm scared of losing my hair and hating myself even more.

I love how kind this guy is. I’m fed up of mean youtubers. He’s super supportive and a joy to watch, and the way he doesn’t get all frivolous about hair while being a pro hairdresser is so refreshing.

I think every woman thinks they'll look stupid with a shave head until they just do it and realize they look bad ass.

When I was about 16 I had this older friend who used to cut and dye her hair in all kind of different colors and shapes and one day she just shaved it all off. I remember asking her how she was able to do all these things without getting anxious about it. She said ¨Because I don't put my confidence in my hair. It's just hair after all, it doesn't define me as a person or if I'm beautiful or not ¨ I don't know what the purpose of writing this was actually, but I found what she said to be really inspiring for me, and I started to view my hair and myself in a different way after that.

I suffer with hairloss and got tired of the constant upkeep of hiding it. I watched this video and immediately ran to the bathroom to shave my head. And I love it. I also bought some fun wigs.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with "it's what's on the inside that counts", however it's easier to say that when you are conventionally very attractive.

I shaved my hair off 3 weeks ago after experiencing telogen effluvium. I was on the contraceptive pill for 12 years (for a medical condition) and decided that this year (at age 27), I wanted to stop taking it. So I did, cold turkey! Unfortunately, that's what caused my hair to fall out. My hair is pretty fine to begin with so after a month and a half of it coming out, I just went for it. AND LEMME TELL YOU. To the all the people saying that they don't have the right head shape - gurrrllll, I thought the same damn thing. BUT, I love it and it genuinely feels like a fresh start to healthy hair! I say, if you're thinking about buzzing your hair, JUST DO IT. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

It’s weird from my minimal experience with some of the people I know it seems like all the guys I know (including me) are growing their hair out during quarantine while a lot of girls I know are shaving their head during quarantine. I think it’s great for everyone to try new things with their hair, you might find something you really like!

When I shaved my head the first time, the barber asked if I was ready then went straight down the middle, then remarked that we can't turn back now. When I was telling my then boyfriend that I was going to shave my head, his was against it, but afterwards, he maintained it for me so I wouldn't have to keep going to the barber. It was so intimate. I loved him.

I am so here for the energy these women have about shaving their heads and the support and encouragement Brad expresses for them. I had hair past the small of my back when I cut it all off to a pixie cut. It was soo long, got in the way, weighed my head down, I never did anything with it, etc. Looking back now, I wish I could have donated it, but it had been dyed red multiple times and was too compromised. That was 7 years ago, and my hair is that long again, only I've been maintaining it (getting layers, trimming thin ends, etc.). I don't think I would ever have the courage to shave my head completely, but if it came down to it, I would totally grow it out untouched and donate it. 🥰

My niece a few years ago was diagnosed with Cancer and together we shaved our heads. I donated my 28 inches of hair and now whenever I have enough hair, I cut and donate.

I cut all my hair off back in 2010 so I can get back to my natural hair color. Took 2 years to grow long enough to donate and still have shoulder length hair. I recently donated for the 3rd time. All at 16 inches. First one was in honor of my gram. The second was for my aunt Darlene. This last one was for a friend of mine, who like the first 2, didnt make it. I plan on donating until I hit 1000 inches. I might keep doing it even after. It's made a huge difference in so many kids lives. A few of those kids have passed, and when there parents asked me what I would like them to do with the wigs. I asked them to pass them on to another kid who needs it. With all the donations I've done, cause my hair is so thick, made a lot of wigs. I still keep getting more pictures from the familys that have gotten them. Makes me feel like even with the losses of my family, I'm making a difference for someone. It helps give them hope, and I'm all about that.

I started shaving my head in 2020 because like she said, it's just hair and who the hell would see? It was reaching the top of my butt and I was getting hair headaches. LOVED IT SHAVED, still rocking it. Best time is like 2 weeks after the buzz so it gets a tiny bit of growth shag. Every time I meet another chick with a shaved head I feel like I'm in some secret girl cabal. Life's good.

When my son asked me to shave my head, I didn't hesitate. He was 3½ when he was diagnosed with leukemia. He lost his head of curls after the first month of treatment. As longas he had no hair, I had no hair. From August 2017 until November 2017, we were oth bald. It was so liberating. I have grown out, cut and donated my hair four times in my life (11, 15, 21 and 24) but when your own child asks you to do it, nothing else matters. The night before I did the shave, he was playing with my hair and he asked "Mommy, can you make your hair small like mine?'' I made the appointment two minutes later.

I shaved my head a few years ago. My hair was down to my butt. I donated it to our Children's Hospital for children with cancer so they could make wigs for Tots. I haven't looked back since. I asked my hair guru to give me a badass style when it grew in and color & now I have an ice blonde Mohawk. You know, it's interesting, at the start of the year people were wanting this year to be like the roaring 20s, and this so reminds me of how in the 1920s people were trying the "shocking" bob for the first time, but it became the iconic look for the era, and a cool symbol of freedom and empowerment. When I shaved my head to support my girl with cancer who lost hers, I felt so free and wonderful. It looked good from the front but I absolutely had an egg shaped/flat back of my head. I also found some strange birth mark/large flat mole that was not super cute. Lots of cowlicks became evident as it grew from shaved to the skin to a slight buzz to rosemary’s baby to pixie and so forth. I thought when I did it I would just not cut it for a couple years and it would be fine. No. I needed a cut every 6 weeks for the first 6 months and those cuts actually made it look infinitely better and even visually somehow often made it look longer. I had shoulder length hair in just 18 months but with lots of layers. I had hair to the middle of my back in 4 years and that was even getting is cut and colored every 2-3 months. While I can do whatever I want, my friend with cancer still can’t get hair to grow in 1/3 of her head from scars and radiation treatments so at the end of the day, we should just remind ourselves we are lucky to be alive and although hair can be fun and exciting it isn’t everything. Friendships are everything.
