You'll be more qualified than a beauty school graduate since most private beauty schools take their money and don't teach anything relevant. Such a racket..
Peggy Potts honestly so true I only learned how to cut hair since I didn’t already before but everything else is pretty much basic it just science behind hair the teach you and about product but other than that you pretty much Learn everything by experience and error and trial I’m in virtual beauty school and it’s the worst @Aveda
@@natashayanos3305 that's great. I wouldn't say not true at all. At all? How many people upon graduating with a hair license have a foundation of knowledge and skills for cutting hair? None unless they were fortunate enough to go to Vidal Sassoon or the likes of. The only way I could be convinced otherwise is a video proving one's ability. Cutting a straight line is something I have yet to see from a newly licensed person. It's not that simple....Plus are you saying that privately owned beauty schools in the US are giving their students all of the skills they need to confidently take clients in a salon?
I'm 61, you might think that is old, but I don't feel that old. No one cares what I look like, but I had an idea I wanted my bangs back after 6 years of wearing straight center part. I followed your tutorial for "front" bangs, and I'm so happy with the result. I thought no one would even notice, but all day long I got compliments on my bangs!!
I'm the type of girl that has a problem in my life and I solve it by creating a bigger problem with cutting my own bangs. Never have I had a video like this to teach me how to succeed with mental breakdown hair cuts. lol THANK YOU Brad! Xoxo
Yeah! The waviest part of my hair is the front and I had some light bangs (that I insisted to my hair dresser that I wanted) but they grew A LOT... Now I don't know what to do hahaha
I just wanted to post a comment to thank you. I have extreme social anxiety and depression and always let my hair grown in too long (like for 2+years). It's very, very heavy and makes me sweat, particularly at work. I have a hair stylist I love, I've been going to her since I was 6, but I always feel like I'm bothering her when I make an appointment or ask her to cut my bangs even though she said she would do it for free for me. I got so frustrated with my life, and my hair felt like something I could control. I lost my roommate who used to dye my hair, so I learned how it do it myself, and I used to just wing cutting my bangs, but I wanted it to be good. I wanted to look good for once, but I can't pull myself to go anywhere but work and bed. I pulled myself to the bathroom and followed your tips, and blended my bangs with my hair and ended up cutting 7 inches off (don't worry, it's still over 2 feet long so you can't even tell). My hair looks amazing, and I feel so proud of myself for learning that if need be, I can make myself feel pretty, I'm sorry for the long comment, but in a very hard time in my life, you gave me some much needed pride. Thank you again.
I'm glad this helped move you in a forward direction. Bangs are great at helping you "hide" and look attractive at the same time. Plus--probably not an issue for you--but they take years off your age. Hugs from New York! 🔹🔹🔹
i was thinking of how he would demonstrate it and the first thing i thought of was him wearing a wig because of the perspective the person will have later on when they cut their own hair
@꧁ C H E O ꧂ Me too - my hair is curly/wavy. I've always had a full fringe and I just straighten it on a low heat with a heat protectant spray in the morning. Some people say straight bangs and wavy/curly hair is a hair 'sin', but it depends on how you see it - lots of people do it if you Google it
When my dad was cutting is hair following brads tutorial for the other hair cut video he made he wanted to make his eyebrow hairs shorter coz they were getting long but he forgot to change the clip thing and shaved off most his eye brow 💀
leidibugz my mom went to a hairdresser last minute when I was little and she insisted bangs. the lady cut my eyebrow and eyelashes. one of eyelash is shorter than the other
I’m in COVID isolation and wanted to cut my bangs. Watched this and went for it. They turned out great! Like better than the last time I got them professionally cut. Thanks Brad!
No one: Literally no one : Brad: if you can't stop them, support them Edit: thank you guys for the likes ❤️❤️ usually when I comment I get like 1 or 2 likes and I've never even dreamed that one day I'll get 1k likes THANKSSS💕
i was litterally just thinking that 😁 in his early days he was more like those were professional secrets. and now he is all about sharing his knowledge [getting views with it also] and I'm here for it. 😊❤️
Yeah if you check out the Curly Girl Method by Lorraine Massey, she has a really good step by step guide to cutting curly hair. As long as you make sure your hair is dry and clean and you follow the natural curl pattern, cutting them where they fall naturally, you should be good! I've been cutting my own hair for years to save money and because most hairdressers I've been to don't know how to cut curly hair 😖 scarred for life haha. Anyway I recently hacked my fringe a bit short 😅 but within a week it was fine, curls are very forgiving thankfully!
I cut my curly bangs straight and just go extra long. So for me I go a little past my eyebrows with straight hair and get curls about halfway down my forehead curly. It works just fine and then you can do a little extra shaping with dry curls later
Yeah, I cut my own curly bangs about a month ago and I love how it turned out! I want other curlies to feel like they can rock the look, because we really can 💖
let’s be real- there’s two types of girls. ones who have already cut their bangs and decided just to wing it, and ones who watched this entire video closely knowing they’ll never cut their own hair.
I just spent my kid free Saturday night with Brad and I love my hair. I always use to "wing it" with my bangs but I knew better this time. As for the color, that's another story. I LOVE baby bangs and had rocked them a lot over the years but I just turned 41 and I'm afraid I'm too old :( I just went for the fro t bang to hide my forhead)
@@SkyeWind Well.. we do need to let go of some of it. If we want to be taken seriously, and not look like we’re desperately clinging to 20 years ago, then some things really are reserved for younger people. She’s feeling herself cross that threshold. That’s what 40 (41) usually feels like to lucid, emotionally intelligent women. That said, I wouldn’t put baby bangs on the list of “Sh¡t I’m Too Old For”. That list is for things like rainbow-streaked hair, halter tops and body glitter. Baby bangs? Go for it!
@@e.erin. I don't necessarily agree with you but I see what you mean ig. But it's just the way we've been thought to think in our society... Someone has to break the norm for things to change
Day 15 of asking for a mega-makeover series where: Hyram does the skincare Brad Mondo does the hair Robert Welsh does the makeup HauteLeMode styles the outfit
Love this! I did it! I followed every step carefully for the first bang look. Perfection! They look so good! All my money goes to feed our horse babies and hay has more than doubled in price in the last year. No more salon for me, but now I can rock a cute style again. Thank you, Brad! You’re the best! And our well-fed horses thank you too.
Good morning. So, I am a 54-year-old man and father of 3, who has a wife that was going crazy to get her hair done. After scouring all over the internet, I landed on here and I must say...You made it look simple and it was. My wife is happy, my daughter just booked an appointment but strangely enough, the boys are not interested. LOL!! Who would have thought...Me cutting hair. Thanks so much.
@@wildcarpincho Hello there. I am glad I made your day. So, update on all this. Since I posted this comment, I have been cutting my wife's hair once a month and she no longer wants or goes to the salon. I purchased better tools and I have become more confident with it all. (I actually role play now with it and pretend that I am some celebrity hairdresser as I am cutting my wife's hair...talking smack about the stars I work on! LOL! ) My daughter and boys are not interested in my services anymore as they can get it done by a pro. Their loss! I have become so confident I am now grooming the dog and I was surprised to see that the techniques here are similar to the ones used by our dog groomer. So, if anything....the pandemic gave me a new skill! Care for an appointment? LOL!! Hope you are well and safe also and I hope you smile reading this.
@@SlotsOfFun33 I’m dying to do my dog! She needs her tummy buzzed though. Any suggestions? (I can’t even tell-which are the shears I bought for the dog, and which for myself!) What a fun husband you must be!
Good morning Kab1. Yes...I can be a little hilarious when it comes to some of the day-to-day ongoings in this house. Let's just say...Tom Cruise in "Risky Business" has nothing on me when I slide around in boxers singing songs. LOL!! So you want to venture into the world of dog hair, huh? OK...Let me guide you here. I have a miniature Schnauzer, and I liked that Schnauzer cut on him. After a couple of epic fails, I figured out the science behind it. Do not try and do it all in one day and make your dog angry. LOL!! Day one..Brush out all the mats and remove the dead loose hair in the base coat. I highly recommend "Candure Dematting Comb for Dog and Cat" to help you there. It made a world of difference in this venture to not get bitten. Day two, first level shaving of the hair. For the cut I want my dog to have, I need it very short on top and long under him. (#1 on top and # 6 under...I think it is a #6....I could be wrong there, but it is a larger number) Day 3 is bath, dry and repeat the actions of day 2. You will see that a lot of hair will still be long after you wash and dry. Then...It's just touch-ups with the scissors. You can do this all in one day (I did it before) but it is a lot of work for someone who is not a pro and also...The dog needs a break because we just don't have the same tools as a pro dog groomer. Hope this helps and hope all goes well with this adventure. Keep me posted.
It worked !!! Thankyou!!! I have a GINORMOUS forehead it’s my biggest insecurity and been debating bangs , finally decided I wanted some spur of the moment thing so obviously I knew who to go to for a tutorial ! Thank you so much I love the way they turned out! Best tutorial ever ❤️
Me sitting here sissors in hand with my back hair tied up: "i should probably look up how to do this" Update: THE BANGS TURNED OUT GREAT! i did the front bangs and i love myself for the first time in years! Ty brad :)
Oh my god thank you SO MUCH!!! I've trimmed my daughter's bangs so many times, but today was the first time I did it after watching this and it was SO EASY and turned out so much better than it ever was. Thank you thank you thank you!
@James then have someone else in your house watch it and cut your bangs. I also wonder if these haters know that ANY attention on RU-vid is GOOD attention for the content creator?
Same, have cut my own fringe for about 20 years every now and then. Seems like i've been doing it right. All it takes is some dexterity, little finesse and an eye for details. Not rocket science. :D
Just did the sideswept bangs (with a shaving Razor - I'm sorry!!! I'm traveling in Sicily and didn't know where to find a straight razor!) and they came out GREAT! I just needed a bit of a touch-up since my bangs grow out faster than my overall hair and the front was getting heavy! Came out great!
@@littleprincess4615 this one girl at my school cut her bangs in the girls bathroom and she use oil, shave cream, and the school water and the school scissors to do her bangs...
when your are using the clippers to cut the third type of bangs near your eyebrow be careful to NOT cut a piece of your eyebrows too. I think it's something that would happen to me ( the first thing that came to my mind when i saw that ) sooo I don't know if anyone else needed this warning or if it's only me xd
liloveable That’s probably true! I don’t think I cut my eyebrows off but I might have and didn’t remember...If I did it must not have been too much! LOL 😂
Thank you so much, I was so scared to cut my bangs but I couldn't afford to get a hair cut and this tutorial helped so much. They look really nice for me doing them myself, way better then I thought it was gonna turn out. X3
I was raised by my father, he had long thick 2b hair (I got my hair from him, my mom's hair as always naturally just been really thin and fragile), but I've had "spikey" side bangs since childhood. I still love them, I'm 22 now and I've never once given it up.
I’m growing out my pixie cut right now (it will be a little past my shoulders in a year) and once it’s that long I’m ABSOLUTELY going to combine the front bang tutorial with your wolf/shag tutorial and have an AMAZING new hairstyle! I can’t wait! Thank you Brad!
Im SO glad i decided not to rush my impulsive bang cutting, and watch at least one video first. I thought it MUST be Brad's one is the only right choice. I planned to do a regular bangs, but messed up a bit [ obviously, it was firts time me touching my own hair AT ALL ] and ended up with baby bangs and something of a wolf cut that unexpectedly is so so so cute on me! Tolally feel like living my extra life now! Thank you!
I know this is a year old but I used a regular disposable razor and it worked just the same! First time I’ve had bangs since I was 9 (they were TERRIBLE then) and omg they look AWESOME on me now. Brad is an godsend 😌
You know what's the problem? Hairstylists have to be specialists on cutting curly hair, it's not easy and not everyone can do it. Curly hair is so unique and special that you have to be careful when cutting it.
Just be a bad ass and do it anyway! I always cut my own baby bangs. Go slow and cut more length than you think you want so you can see how it bounces up. Don’t try to make all the strands the same length, they will all bounce up to different heights so be more freehand. Have fun!
Any widows peak tips? I had front bangs and loved the way they looked but if I moved too much or if there was a slight breeze they would part right down the middle and I looked like the mammoth from ice age
Thank you for this! I feel like a new woman. I am so glad a moment of common sense told me that maybe I should watch a video after the first snip. I trimmed my bags for years then grew them out with the lockdown and felt old and flat. Starting over myself was a bit scary! I never knew about the hold them up at the end part and fringe the long stuff, that was the missing piece all along!🧡
Love You Brad Mondo! You make being a hair stylist look so easy but it's only easy for the really talented artists, which of course you are -- the one! I worked at a salon at the desk and I can say a stylist job is not easy if they aren't talented. Not every stylist is an artist. I've gone to some salons and paid top dollar for senior stylists and my hair came out looking like I cut it myself, and the salon I worked at many moons ago and we had a junior stylist, just fresh from graduation and her artistic technique was unbelievable and I looked like a top model! And yeah, now I'm suffering with almost a year on and off closure of our salons here in Ontario Canada. But thank you Brad Mondo for all your tips to help us get us through this second year and third of our COVID lockdown. You are making us at least happier and giving us that extra knowledge of how to get by during these times. But once it all opens up I will keep in search of a salon that makes me look like a hair model again, even if I'm not one it's fun to look in the mirror every morning and say, "Hi Beautiful, let's go live our extra life today"
ME LMAO I WANNA CUT THEM TONIGHT BUT MY MOM'S GONNA HATE ME SO MUCH edit: my mom actually agreed to cutting my bangs so she cut them and they look adorable!!
I cut myself a front bang when the quarantine started and everybody said I wouldn’t look good with it but it’s damn cute. I’ve got red/brown split hair, quite a round face and nerd glasses. I look like a real life anime character.
I literally watched just this video and, I've cut a nice chunky arched full fringe as you've demonstrated, it couldn't have gone better, I'm thrilled, thank you so much! I always rely on your advice. 🥰
Just looked up this video to cut my own bangs and I’m actually pretty happy with how they turned out! Thank you Brad for giving me the confidence to do this on my own ❤
