Decided to upload the English Dub of this awesome moment, cause I kinda like the dub! From Episode 62 I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING IN THE VIDEO! COPYRIGHT IS TO THE RESPECTIVE OWNERS!!!
I love this anime SOOOOOOOOOO much, I have probably watched Ippo's first Dempsey Roll hundreds of times, it's like Goku's first Super Saiyan transformation for me, I never ever get tired of watching it!
I'm a boxer, and I'm just now watching this anime. I'm on episode 70! Easily my favorite anime ever and I said the exact same thing. "Ippo went Super Saiyan!" I was literally jaw dropped watched this for the first time a couple days ago!!
i just started watching this anime and i got to this part in the anime, ive easily rewatched this over the course of an hr and i still cant stop getting excited over it
@@isaac2990 this is actually my first exposure to the anime, and I am a long time boxing fan. So I read Dempsey roll then watched it in action and saw Mkke Tyson it made me scratch my head a bit.
I love anything Richard Epcar is in, such a talented guy. Ippo’s VA has a good voice for the role too, I think they could’ve just worked on getting more power and aggression out of it for those hard punches.
Yo this Dempsey Roll was a fucking game changer. The show was so intense then he got his first lose to Date. He came back with this shit yo! His most powerful move yet.

My biggest problem with the Dempsey Roll is that when Ippo gets to hit his enemy's face, the ref just lets the enemy take AT LEAST 10 punches to the face with their hands down
Considering the time this was released (dubbing was still relatively new back then) the dub here actually ain't too bad. Obviously not on par with say FMA but it's not bad
The dub feels weird after watching the series. But if I had to rewatch it, I'd definitely watch it in English. I personally felt the first series was the best out of all three of them.
@@isaacdiakite6249 He does not act at all like a boxer. In fact, how he acted before becoming a boxer hadn't changed much once he became one. He's a fanboy for Miyata, who is one of his biggest rivals.
For this scene? Absolutely, but they both have their strengths, I really love how the dub did Takamura and Ippos early conversations for example, the words of wisdom hit hard
The dub does the early episodes very well, the learning moments, Takamura giving Ippo advice etc, the campyness is great too, especially for the comedy, but they unfortunately fall short with the hype moments, especially compared to the sub, man, so close, the emotion isn’t quite there, but it’s still great
+Boss Lee here is the description: Decided to upload the English Dub of this awesome moment, cause I kinda like the dub! From Episode 62 I DO NOT OWN ANYTHING IN THE VIDEO! COPYRIGHT IS TO THE RESPECTIVE OWNERS!!!: i cant seem to find the ps2 part your tacking about???
I love and watch both sub and dub versions for a lot of anime, but damn the dub doesn't sound good in this. The sub voice acting in Ippo is top notch, especially the coach VA (RIP), Takamura and Ippo
Good lesson, never watch the dub version lol. Bad compared to sub; tone, environment, quotes, character reactions and sound. They are all so underwhelming compared to original
This dub is objectively bad. Debate me on it if you disagree. Prove to me why this dub is "good". The characters' timings are all off, the voice acting is stale and lifeless as if they're reading a script prerecord, and there's absolutely no emotion behind any important dialogue. Hell, every time Ippo throws a punch I'm concerned he might fucking throw up because he sounds as if he's taking a huge shit. The only "acceptable" voice actor here is the one for Kamogawa, and even then he lacks emotion as well.
