They did it on purpose, they won't back out from their decision.. 1983 draft they acquired Ralph Sampson a 7'4" talented &skilful center before knee injuries ruined his career..In 84 draft they drafted another center Hakeem.. Have you ever asked yourself Why did they draft Centers in back to back drafts?? It was absolute a Correct decision..

Hakeem stayed loyal to the soil. In his darkest days, with the media closing in on him, with his owner questioning his integrity, with playofff heartbreak after playoff heartbreak, this man hunkered down and committed even harder. He was rewarded with guys like Kenny Smith, Robert Horry, Vernon Maxwell- guys that he viewed as immense additions and a great cast of supporting talent, and he lifted them up to play their best basketball, as Hakeem’s own game had ascended to near perfection. More importantly, His intangibles, his personality, his leadership all ascended as well. And, in due time, Hakeem himself ascended to basketball’s highest peak, not once but twice. His humility, his origins, his discipline, his privacy, his lack of marketability are all reasons that this man is never discussed when we consider the greatest of all time. But even more than his performance is worthy of adoration- it is his character and determination that ought to be the foci for emulation. More players need to look back to Hakeem and his hardships. He embodies exactly what it means to be a man in the NBA. No pointing fingers. No media manipulation. Playing for every cent of your contract. Being dependable to everyone in the organization. Consider this: LeBron James, at the time the first or second best player in the league, left his HOMETOWN to join with the third best player in the league AND a top 4 Power Forward in the league, taking with him the only other All Star, and the Cavs’ starting center for nearly half a decade, announcing the deal on national television, and then boasting about how this team was so good, they would win multiple championships in a nationally-televised parade. The backlash was inevitable, and even still, LeBron did not understand how and why he could be so hated. Hakeem Olajuwon KNEW he was being hated for doing nothing other than dominating on a shit team for a decade, and then found new hope when he was given a few pieces that, in sum, could all be considered to still be worth less than jsut ONE of LeBron’s superstar teammates. Seriously- Vernon Maxwell, Kenny Smith, Otis Thorpe, Scott Brooks, Robert Horry…. Or Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Anthony Davis, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, JR Smith, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, Richard Jefferson, Rajon Rondo, Dennis Schroeder, Dwight Howard, Javale McGee, Chris Anderson, Carlos Boozer, Mo Williams,

Olajuwon is easily the greatest player of all time! Learned basketball at age 16, was drafted #1 overall at age 21, gentleman swept the defending champ Showtime Lakers and took the 86' Celtics to game 6 of the Finals by age 23! Carried terrible teams to the playoffs every year, then became the only player in history to win MVP, DPOY, Finals MVP, all NBA first team, all defensive first team, and the ring in the same season at age 31! Olajuwon dominated 4 of the all time top 10 centers in the WCF and Finals, the only player to retire top 10 in 5 categories, the only player to record 200+ blocks and 200+ steals in the same season, and the only player to have a winning record against Jordan's Bulls!

As good as Jordan was on the wing, Hakeem was on post. Who had better footwork? jordan or Dream? Who was a better defender? Jordan or Dream? If jordan was just slightly a better scorer (avg), Then dream was the better Rebounder (avg). Positions play a factor into both the scoring and Rebound numbers. Hakeem was shooting the turn-around from both sides before micheal took the move from him (watch the footwork). Jordan is my #1 fav. of all-time. I write all of this to say. Hakeem was as good as the greatest player of all-time. Hakeem really should get mentioned in that convo. Every aspect of Jordans game, I can counter with an aspect of dreams game. Thank you for acknowledging Jordan's footwork was, in part, a byproduct of taking notes from Hakeem. During his first retirement he had a front row seat to watching Hakeem go back to back gold with twinkle toes fantabulous footwork on full display. MJ, to my knowledge, has never publicly acknowledged gaining insight from Hakeem but everybody knows Kobe went to go see Hakeem and Houston so did LeBron, when those two seek #34 and ask to pick his brain, I'd say it's a safe bet MJ had someone put together a Dream post moves mixtape for His Airness to study before his first comeback. His 96, 97, & 98 Championship campaigns were heavily based on his triple threat midpost attack ( primarily on the right side of the Court where is the dream set up on the left mostly ) .

@canwetalk1790
@canwetalk1790 2 года назад
@@eazymoneymane7789 Yes Hakeem is the best I’ve ever seen play and I believe he’s the greatest of all time at the center position. Consider this, his contemporaries were Shaquille O Neal David Robinson Patrick Ewing and Tim Duncan perhaps the greatest set of big men ever to play at one time in the league. Hakeem Olajuwon went up against Shaquille in the finals David Robinson in the semi finals and Patrick Ewing in the finals and he destroyed all of them. He is undoubtably the greatest defender for a big man ever in the game and his foot work was phenomenal. His mid range jumper was absolutely unstoppable and he was the fastest big man up and down the floor to me ever. He won two championships with no all star players. Yes I did see Wilt Chamberlain play and also Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. No doubt they were phenomenal offensive talents but their game did not extend much beyond that. Their defense was average at best and they were not known for dominating both sides of the floor like Hakeem was. Consider the fact that arguably the greatest player ever Michael Jordan has Hakeem as his all-time starting center. If you were to Google or RU-vid the “dream shake” you will see how great an offensive talent Hakeem was. Keep in mind this man barely played high school ball and was a soccer player when he went to the University of Houston. He literally learned the game and how to play it as a college player and took the University of Houston to two NCAA championship games. So here we go for Hakeem on a scale of 1 to 5 his defense of ability was 4.9 his offensive ability was 4.7 his physical ability was a five. If he had played in the New York or Los Angeles market he would undoubtably and universally be recognized as the greatest center ever to play
