Born & raised in Houston, and no disrespect to Rudy, he was a great motivating coach and he knew how to rile the team up. But as a coaching mind and creating offensive opportunities?? compared to other coaches (phil jackson), he was LIGHT YEARS behind. The Rockets only strategy even after Drexler arrived was to throw it down to Hakeem and let him work or kick it out for a 3 when double teamed. This strategy definitely WORE OUT Hakeem during the championship runs, all while Jordan got 2 years of rest. You can tell by the significant decline in Hakeem’s production from the 95 season to 96 season.

this entire decade and era was both amazing and painful and frustrating for fans of other strong teams that were contenders and mainstays in the playoffs like the knicks, the pacers and the utah jazz with stockton and malone. all of these teams pretty much could have been dominant and won repeating back to back championships or 2 in 4 or 3 in 5 or anything like that if jordan and the bulls werent like a supernatural entity during that time that just would not let go and lose. i was a kid and i wasnt even super in love with Mike but it was like watching a fuckin alien play ball. he did NOT miss clutch shots and did things that i still just cannot comprehend like having the flu in a particular shitty year to have the flu and dropping triple doubles and 40 or 50 points and shit. karl malone would be dominant in any era and i feel like both them and the knicks would have multiple trophies if the bulls werent a thing. its fun to theorize but ultimately this era was so fun to watch.

Watching this brings back so many memories, this was my childhood. I grew up with the Rockets, Hakeem Olajuwon is my favorite player of all time. That summer I attended and met Kenny Smith's basketball camp. I was upset when the Rockets had traded Horry, Smith, Elie and Cassel for Charles Barkely. The team wasn't the same after that. Of course when the Rockets had picked up free agent Scottie Pippen during the 98 season, the shorten season, what looked like a winning team. Barkely and Pippen never saw eye to eye and it was the last season that Hakeem played for Rockets.

People tend to forget how special Hakeem Olajuwan was o❤n❤ the court. This Guy grew up playing Soccer. This is where the Foot Work, Speed, and his Moves Originated From. When you combine this with a 7’ Foot Frame and a Will To Win, he’s almost Unbeatable every time he steps on the court.

Hakeem was a goalie so he didn't even learn most of these trades since they are needed for attacking outfield players not keepers he literally got into basketball at 15 and learned all of this from scratch.
