I strongly suggest therapy. I am a victim of SA as a child. The man was my father's brother in law. I loved him like sn uncle, I trusted him. I was 14. I havegone through a lot of therapy to the point where I am no longer sacred of having a spouse al humduillah. It takes time and healing. The Quran definitely helped me through the thick of it as well. Hope this helps in shaa Allah ❤❤

Though you shouldn't force your partner, of course, it is the duty of the Husband or the Wife to satisfy the other when called to the bed, unless they have a valid reason to do so. In fact, the Husband can discipline his Wife in a way that does not cause injury or a mark if necessary.

@@MuhammedDenix This is actually incorrect. The husband can't discipline his wife until the third time she refuses. Maybe she is ill, or doesn't feel well in the other two times.

Don't forget, the Quranic injunction is to first talk to her about it as much as you can, then to separate beds, and then to gently do it. And yes, there are acceptions like if she is sick or unable to physicly give him as much as he wants. And withregard to disciplining, the Husband has to be careful the way he does it, and it should only be a last resort.

@MuhammedDenix Actually the same is also likewise for the husband. He needs to be fulfilling his wife's needs as well. But there are cases where the wife was assaulted when she was younger and may not be okay with attempting intercourse so soon with her spouse. He has to be patient with her and take baby steps. If she just can't be in the mood like what if she is sad about someone dying. She won't be in the mood and forcing her is sooo wrong on so many levels.

Yes, you are right, it is wrong to force the Wife. That's not what I'm calling for. All I'm saying is he does have the right to discipline her. There's a difference between forcing yourself onto her outright and simply disciplining her. Even if she is defiantly disobedient you can't just force a woman to have intercourse, the least you can do is discipline her. Yes, there are cases like you mention such as sexual assault, abuse etc which may make the woman uncomfortable. In this case, what the Husband has to do is get her medical attention so she can get over it as most men aren't equipped to deal with that sort of thing. By that I mean they may be too heavy handed where they shouldn't, or they may inflame the situation even when trying to be gentle. When I mean she refuses and the Husband can discipline her, I mean when she says something like "I can't be bothered," "I'm not in the mood," when there is no justified reason in doing so. It's also true there are other reasons why she might be afraid, like hearing of cases of sexual assault, the way her family dealing with it you know, talking about sex is a taboo! Or even the fact that she may have been raped etc. In that case, not only does the Husband have to take "baby steps," but he has to show some tact. However, these problems shouldn't be left untreated or they may negatively affect the marriage. In those cases the Wife isn't disobeying the order of the Husband. There are valid reasons why she is not doing what she should ordinarily be doing. I also think one of the problemswith our culture is that we often focus on the men so much so that it seems as though the woman shouldn't have any pleasure at all in the bed, which may turn her off. This is wrong and utterly stupid. You know,some cultures go so far so much so that they cut off the pleasurable parts of her private parts (don't want to be more graphic than that). Yes, there are ahadith on circumcision for women, but fgm is totally out of the question. In fact a man who thinks sexual pleasure is just for chastity and for the man and for having kids has totally misunderstood our religion. Sex is also an act of love. Especially when a woman gives herself to a man, she signifies that she is trusting her man with her life and that this trust is sacred. Of course the same goes for the guy as well but it is even more so for the woman as her nature is frail and weak.
