During the Spring Festival season, the China National Botanical Garden retains its serene winter landscape, with frozen lakes and the absence of spring migratory birds. As a result, birdwatchers can expect to encounter common winter birds native to Beijing during their visit.

I feed wild birds in my garden, these images of common birds from Beijing, are quite close to the species that come on my feeding stations right now, in central France: Great spotted woodpecker, Green Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Great Tit, Marsh Tit, Redwing trush, Bullfinch, Hawfinch, Brambling, Magpie, Collared turtle dove, common sparow and other species as I live in the countryside. But it’s pretty close to the common West European bird in winter. Thank you for your pictures.

I'm delighted to hear the familiar bird names! It's wonderful to know that these birds are being looked after during the winter. Thank you for your comment!

More happy memories - thank you! I lived in Bejing for a year as a student in 1990-91. Bullfinch is a good bird for Beijing, and Light-vented Bulbul was just appearing as a migrant, but is much more established in northern China.

Thank you for reminding me about the Light-vented Bulbul. It's indeed migratory. It's also wonderful to know that we lived in the same city during the same time. Cheers to those shared memories!

The similarity to many of our birds here in the Seattle area was unexpected and most welcome! Would love to travel for birds like you do some day. Awesome video, thank you!

Thank you! Yes, the distinction between bird species in the New World and Old World is indeed interesting. I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
