Seeing as there is no more steam until the "Olympic restrictions" are lifted, we have here in no particular order, a collection of mainline steam around the capital. Where two cameras were used for coming and going away shots, I've used a different edit for this compilation than on the original upload.

This is a wonderful video! I love the way you have captured that air of anticipation as we first hear the loco in the distance, and then catch a glimpse of the smoke and steam as it gradually comes into view. Takes me back to my childhood!

Superb video there mate! Some fantastic traction from all our favourite steam engines. Love how Bittern's safety valve opened up in front of you! Fantastic by ever meaning of the word! Keep it up! :D

So good that you decided to post this --- I really enjoyed it. You've got some great shots in there from 34067 slippin and a slidin to 6024 showing how it done at high speed.... Hugh TU

What an absolutely fantastic video! Thanks for putting all the work in to produce this; your choice of locations and your pan and zoom work are excellent - nothing beats local knowledge. Hanwell is quite an attractive station as a background, but your backlit shot of King Edward I going away from camera is a masterpiece! 5* and Fav and thanks for sharing.

Wonderful! Thank you for uploading this I enjoyed the full 33 minutes of that. I Like the Southern Railway West Country Battle of Britain & Merchant Navy Class in particular as they have awesome whistles and are an incredible design. And of course I Like all steam locomotives in general. I am 16 and am a steam enthusiast so after watching this i am now more passionate about steam then ever. Thank You for uploading, excellent job with the editing, Brilliant steam locomotives. Nice one. Brill vid.

All good, but that shot of KE1 screaming past with the whistle reaches right down to the soul and massages it, Wow :)

thanks for the comment. I use a cheap home made wind baffle, made by simply running a worm of blu-tac around the microphone area (below the lens), and sticking some cheap fur over this, the fur being from ear-muffs found in pound shops!. So a wind baffle for no more than £2.

Why is that first one going the wrong way / on the wrong track?
@southofthethames
@southofthethames 2 года назад
It isn't. From left to right on the South Eastern it up, then a down road, then another up then down. Unlike the South Western that has two up then two down.
