You might have missed the point; Big things take longer to fall(and to move in general, for that matter) because they have a greater distance to fall, and don't actually move with greater velocity. No need to get hung up on less than ideal semantics.
Ive noticed that too. It made me think they should start a new series like re:view, only its jay recommending movies that mike missed along the way to fill in his gaps in movie history, then jay and mike can review and talk about it. The can call it "Jay helps Mike fill in his gaps."
@@psyko444 all Basil Poledouris soundtracks are amazing. Hunt for Red October. Red Dawn. Robocop. Starship Troopers. Conan the Barbarian. Quigley Down Under. Hot Shots Part Deaux. For Love of the Game.
I did not realize the story in these episodes continues from one to another. I had just been watching random episodes before I realized. Now I’m back at the start going from one to the next. Much better.
You should record audio tracks for movies with nothing else but Rich Evans' laughter so we can start it with the movie and enjoy the "Rich Evans Experience".
😂😂 was thinking that, I'm assuming nobody knew him as an actor well back then, so u kinda heard his name once and then went w what u Thought u heard (Colin Ferr..th?)
LOVED the Fight Night remake...fun, schlocky and great performances from Anton and Collin..,probably my favorite performance from CF...just a fun romp...love both the original and this version equally for different reasons :)
I loved the 2011 fright night. I was the perfect age of a teenager when I saw it though. I also like the original one as well. But especially as someone that lives in Vegas I thought it was really cool to base the movie out there.
I love that someone finally brought up Rich's laugh...thought I was crazy that it is such a big thing for me when I hear it, but no one ever addressed it before.
I tried to google "Is Conan 2011 supposed to be funny?" because I honestly don't know but all I got was websites explaining in detail why Conan O'Brien isn't funny.
People like Rich Evans is why I still love going to the movies. I like that energy you get with an audience. Seeing the first Hulk movie with a packed theater made for some great commentary.
Are you actually confused? Or just doing the thing where you quote someone out of context to make them sound retarded? If it's the former, he means visually. A big building exploding takes a while to finish hitting the ground. A small model of a building exploding goes down in a second. So the footage of a model gets slowed down to make it appear like a big thing exploding, because, to quote a wise old man: you may not have noticed it, but your brain did.
@@noone3216I mean, to be fair, it is pretty funny that Mike is sanctimoniously saying “that’s how gravity works” when it’s actually the opposite of how gravity works and is just how visual perception works
Henrique Teixeira Big structures that break apart need time to fall to the ground. Several seconds at least (see avalanches, or 9/11). Tiny models that are foot tall goes *poink*. Done. So moviemagic slows down the explosion of a model to make it appear to be larger.
just realizing that jay is drinking sierra nevada glissade, a golden bock which i think was their spring seasonal for a while and i have not seen it in a LONG time and now i miss it. great beer. RIP
The original Fright Night is one of my favorite movies of all time but strangely I didn't hate the remake. I should have and I didn't want them to remake it. But taken as it is, from the acting to the directing, it wasn't that bad.
In spring 2012 I had the worst flu I’ve ever had. I was in bed for a week drifting in and out of sleep. I bought the first season of Game of Thrones to watch on my Kindle Fire and drifted in and out of consciousness while watching. At some point something reminded me that a Conan remake had happened in the last year and I was curious. When I looked it up on Amazon it only had it for sale and not for rent. I didn’t want to buy it, but dammit I was sick and I NEEDED to watch it…so I bought it. It sits in my Prime account as a reminder to not purchase things while mentally impeded. (Though, it’s also become a comfort movie to watch when I’m sick) But also, handily, it was there for me to scan for the tiny building explosion Mike talked about. (I didn’t remember it.) That gave me a good chuckle.
I worked with the dude who did the Children of Men car interior shots. He gave me a ride back from the set. His car is tiny and he drives with his knees nest to his elbows
@@DruNature Not to mention the awesome long takes, the excellent performances and a story that doesn't insult your intelligence. That movie has been rock solid in my top 5 of all time.
Mike: "It's amazing how we don't appreciate special effects today. Especially 3D." Also Mike: "Oh it's a cartoon movie, so it's whatever. Doesn't matter."
Colin Firth. He would have been a very different vampire! They’d need to call it “ The King’s Screech”. I figure there would need to be a saved by the bell reference or two.
It feels like it may have been genuine. For context, when Mike said that, he meant visually. Eg. big crane falling over takes a little while to finish hitting the ground. Model crane falling over hits the ground in a fraction of a second. So the footage of small thing gets slowed down to make it seem like big thing.
Mike - you summed it up.... Special effects are a given. Hopefully the crap like these will tank and they will start focus on the stories. I've been watching the crap out of Indy and small company films. I'm more impressed with those. The production values might be lower, might not be that million dollar look.... But some have great effects when you know it's being done for under 20k, filmed in a park, ect. What stands out about the good ones (everyone's first few films suck as they are learning their craft) is that they are focusing on the story with no budget and having to make the most out of every penny they put into their project.
I always find it shocking the movies that Mike hasn’t seen. I hated the new Conan movie. The original Conan the Barbarian and Destroyer were awesome. Such a shame that Hollywood had to go screw up a perfectly good opportunity to restart the franchise.
I dont remember seeing the original or the remake, but I fee like I have heard the story of Fright Night. Its a weird feeling to have something be familiar and not at the same time.
Oliver Stone was involved in old Conan too. I don't think there will ever be another movie quite like it. Strange mixture of incredible cheesiness and genuine artistic achievement.
Wasn't the battlefield Conan was born in their own village? Kinda makes sense that even the pregnant women fight if the whole tribe is already in danger.
