I think I just found my next project. I have had the log cabin ruler for several years but couldn't figure out how to use it. Now I'm going to get it out and find some fabric and make that quilt. It's beautiful. Thank you for your tutorial. I appreciate you demonstrating the technique to make half log cabin blocks. I'm excited to start another project.

I am a new quilter. I bought my 1st sewing machine a few months ago. I have decided to make each of my sons a quilt for Christmas. Tomorrow is August 1st. My goal is to make 1 quilt per month. Working on them a few hours after work then as much as I can on weekends. This will be the 1st of the 3 quilts. I have all the materials for the blocks and have almost all of the pieces cut. I just need to finish cutting the black pieces. I just got the log cabin tool in the mail today! I am super excited and am anticipating a beautiful quilt. Thank you so much for publishing this!

The first time I saw this pattern as a full log cabin quilt I loved it... Because I like how it went on strips and sewing it piece... That made it so much easier than trying to do triangles and squares and everything else and would just take a horribly long time to try to finish one quilt... But this makes it so much easier... This is a very cool variation of this log cabin block! I just found my next project and I love the idea of stitching several sections as you go. I can see it saving time in other places to allow for the constant squaring up cuts. I also like you coordinated your outfit and glasses to go with the color scheme of the quilt. Nice attention to detail!😉

I love the pattern very much. I am confused about where you are lining up the ruler. Do you have a better video of just using the ruler and explaining in detail how to line it up and which 'line' you are using? I am new and want to make this.

I wonder if this could be accomplished in an ombre fabric? I would assume you would need to buy the yardage for the largest piece, multiplied by the number of colors?

How does the block become 8”? Take 1/2” off each piece and end up with 2” for center and 1.5” for each log. Six logs at 1.5” = 9” plus the 2” red center comes to 11”. I’m confused.

Would quarter log cabin be a more accurate description of this block instead of half log cabin?

I made my first block and noticed my first strips around my 2 1/2 inch square is smaller than the rest of my strips (C-G) is that correct? Thanks.

This is a wonderful quilt but I have the instructions and there is not a clear way of putting the triangles on I would love to put this together and put it on my bed but it would be nice if you went into how to put the triangles on at least on the first or second row and then we can figure it out from there but I would really love more instructions on how to put it together with the the triangle

If the middle square is 2 1/2” and the strips are cut to 2” I notice you cut some of the edge off! How wide is each rectangle without the seam allowance? I’m getting 1 1/4” per rectangle width after it’s sewn on, is this correct??
