Today's client wanted to get as much of her heat damage cut off as possible! 22TiTania flat irons available this Friday, January 29th at 12pm est at DeeperThanHair.com! See you there!
@@latricejames7832 Yes, you do have to straighten it if you want to cut it right once the first time. No, if you rarely wear your hair straighten, but you will have to trim it again once you straighten it, because hair isn’t fully stretched when it is curly, and not everyones curl pattern is the same in order for you to get a proper cut without it straighten.
Two months ago my hair stylist insisted on cutting my damage ends. I agreed but was crying inside because they had grown so much. Two mo the later they’re back at the same length. It was totally worth it. Lesson : cut your spit ends !!
Yes!! I used to have extremely heat damaged hair, cut all of the damage off and grew it out again. I now use heat almost regularly but carefully and I don't get heat damage, my hair is longer and healthier than that of people I know who are almost heat-phobic
Yessss girl thank u. I get so sick of all the heat phobia there is now. Everyone is always like," don't use heat you'll get heat damage " lol. It kills me cause so many females now watch a few RU-vid videos & then all the sudden they think they're some hair experts. Lmao. You're EXACTLY right lack of knowledge on how to apply heat properly is what will cause someone heat damage not just applying it.
I love that you remind people its just hair! In our community there's a lot of shaming, length, texture, edges, everything! This channel helps me remember healthy hair is the ideal
So true. My BFF is going through a severe depression right now because her alopecia is taking her hair and she had to shave her hair very short. The pressure we put on ourselves about our hair is just as bad as what society does
Yes ma’am! I buzz cut my hair years ago, people thought I was going through a depression. I let my hair grow back out to waist length, and people comment on it, then ask about my grays. I say I wanna cut it, and you’d think I was talking about committing a crime! We just cannot win! 🙏🏽
I know this is weird but after the cut I wanted you to wet it again so I could see the difference in the curls 😂😭 I know those curls are BEAUTIFUL after that cut 🥺🥺🙌🏾
I don’t do hair. I don’t go to salons. I’m white. I have thin, straight, fine hair. I’m middle-aged. I spend my free time watching you. That’s how amazing you are.
@@nyahlester5717 she's just letting her know who her content reaches, and that people from ALL demographics enjoy how wonderful she is. Don't be nasty, kindness feels so much better.
@Michelle Rodriquez Thank you!! I looked it up and was surprised that it was in the hood!😄❤. I thought it was in an upscale neighborhood. No worries....I'd still go in a heartbeat!😆
I’m so lucky with my hairdresser who is my daughters best friend. I had almost waist length curly hair, when she asked me what I wanted I told her I wanted it all chopped off so it sat on my shoulders. Okay she said and proceeded to do exactly what I wanted. No ‘are you sure or ‘but it’s so long. To me, that’s what makes a great hairdresser, you know what you want and that’s should be what you pay for..
I went from hair that was several inches past my shoulder to a pixie cut in one go, and I about wanted to kill the stylist. He kept asking "are you sure this is what you want?" Yes! I get it, it's a big chop, but I was sick of long hair, long hair is not the thing that makes me pretty/feminine/confident/whatever. I LOVED my little pixie cut--it felt cute and it didn't hide my face or sit all heavy on my neck or use up a gallon of conditioner and it had so much personality--but I couldn't stand the people that wanted to go "Oh, but it was so long!"
The stylist I used to go to years ago would never cut my hair short, it was a few inches above my waist and also highlighted, so it was in terrible condition. I ended up going to a different salon to have it cut into a bob, and it’s been that length ever since. It’s frustrating than when the stylist doesn’t listen to you or is afraid to cut it short. Was very nearly taking her scissors and cutting a chunk off and saying ‘ well, now you have to'!
Same problem here! My hair grows really fast and I've gone through the same cycle since I was 13, waist length to shoulder length to waist length to shoulder length. When it comes time to do the big chop, it's hard to find someone to even DO it, let alone trust your decision. ✌️
The other side of the equation is people who go long to short on impulse and spend the next few years crying. I think it’s a good idea to be sure the client thought it through.
I and waist length hair and I miss it I lost hair due to stress and Covid ..I just did a big hai cut so my hair can start growing again / but I hate it being this short it’s on my shoulders now and I had more hair when I was 1 yrs old
This reminds me of an unhealthy relationship, what’s the point of holding on to it when it will stop your progress. Might as well cut all ties and prosper, nothing like a fresh start 🥰🙏🏽
Preach sister, preach. With that said I need to do the same. My hair is long and DAMAGED I haven't grown it out while taking care of it in about 4 years. And I've been holding on to a toxic relationship for about 7 years... Time to let go of both and focus on ME and MY HAIR of course Lol. Peace, Love, and blessings to EVERYBODY.
Her hair is so much better off without those damaged ends. Now she's well on her way to a healthier hair journey. The metaphor between hair and life and holding onto dead, damaged things will hold you back speaks volumes.
True...hanging on to fried or excessively jacked up split ends only makes whatever hairstyle you're trying to have look worse. I've seen way too many BW who will hold on to bad ends just because its BSL or longer...only to look at another BW's hair that's healthy and say they want hair like that 🤔. They can potentially have it if they cut those ends ✂️💇🏾♀️! I do my own monthly dusting of my hair and get my major trims by my stylist...I don't use excessive heat. And whenever my stylist trims, she barely needs to take that much off.
How long is your hair, and what is longest your hair has grown? Hair is not alive, you all should stop saying dead ends, if you knew hair fully, hair also grows at different rates per square inch, as well there is mechanical damage. Not all uneven hair is split ends, All i see is praising someone for cutting their hair, and I never see comments where education is being granted on hair growth etc. And yes I have long hair, and yes I dont trim often, and yes I Love to cut my hair for no reason. The hair dresser did a Great job as usual! but these comments prasing women for cutting off their hair geeez. My hair grew lengths when i understood the growth is not in the cutting(only) but maintaining. As per the metaphor, when we let go we must also learn how to strengthen and change within in, or else we would let go then resume.
@@candi1904 I've been loc'd for 7 years now and my hair is down to my lower back. It's surpassed the length it ever was relaxed or as a loose natural. Cutting off my relaxer was very liberating for me and the reason I decided to loc mine is because I didn't care for all the manipulation that braidouts and twistouts required. My relaxed hair would grow to a certain length and split on the same side all the time. This hair stylist trusted another one to cut off her damaged ends so that she could stop the further demise of the rest of her hair. It's her hair and she can do whatever she wants with it just like the rest of us.
@Playhouse of Nautica white people can be hundred percent white and have loose curls but idk why a black person with loose curls all of a sudden HAS to be mixed, like what????
@@myrthasmascary4086 there are definitely stylists out there that cut curly. I think it depends on if the client wears their hair natural or if they use heat (or both even)
@@chaiannejones3950 me too! it was always stretched and always styled for years. down to my back full until I tried myself got damaged. recently cut it off and trying again, my hair is not fully how it used to be but now with the knowledge I can make it healthier again.
I went to a hair dresser and ask her to cut where my hair was breaking. She did not do so. She clip my hair. In less than a week my hair continued splitting and breaking. Some hairdresser are the ones that are attached to long hair not caring about what's good for the client. Needless to say. I cross that store off my list. They lost a client
It's so weird to me how people are like "omg, cut your hair, it's way too long" or "way too damaged", but also people are like, "why are you cutting off so much of your hair?" Let a woman do what she wants with her damn hair. Unless she asked your opinion, you weren't asked. Every length and type of hair is beautiful and it's the choice of the person how they choose to wear it. People argue and get mad enough on the internet, why add to that?
It’s weird to me how some people care about another adult’s two cents on a PUBLIC forum. Most youtubers actually ASK for feedback as it boosts their channel. Otherwise, they have the option of blocking the comments. Again, a PUBLIC forum, opinions will be given, good & bad, asked for or not.
@@bumblebee4024 sorry if you took it personally 🤷🏼♀️ Also, I didn’t specify RU-vidrs or people on a public forum, I meant in general. I still think it’s weird even on public forums if the person didn’t ask for comments about their physical appearance. But hey, if you think that’s polite, you do you. No one is stopping you.
BEAUTIFUL!! As a white woman, I have really enjoyed to education I've received from your channel. The differencent process and procedures of taking care of black hair; I have so much more respect and understanding ❤ Bless you!!
Alexandra Hill and why would needing education be something to put someone down about? You were born not needing to learn anything? The comments about "so much respect ...." and "I'm white" appeared patronizing. Does she say she has so much respect for white or Indian stylists when she comments? Why does she feel the need to do it now? Strange.
The same thing happened to me.I told her I wanted all the split ends and color gone and she told me I made her nervous and to book another appointment for my second trim.Never went back.
Her curls looked so pretty, in the area where there was no damage. Those curls are going to be bouncing and happy after the great cut you gave her. As always, your press is always the silkiest and shiniest I've ever seen!
The people who don’t care about cutting their hair be the ones with the longest hair. Her hair is going to grow right back to that length in a few months
I just cut all my shoulder length hair off. Its toooooo thick and curly and hated it so much. I dont do anything special like blowouts or hair drying etc yet its beyond dry. Now I am rocking a Halle Barry short 'do. The freedom is BLISS!
I can watch your videos for hours, there somehow amazingly relaxing and soothing. Who knew that hair videos especially 'silk press' would be a feel good! The lady must be a millionaire with millions of views on each video. Well done 👏 keep up the good work!
I’m not gonna lie when I see videos like these with women who have long hair, My first reaction is like nooo don’t cut it idc if it’s damaged, but when I see the end result I realize it was actually needed and overall looks a lot better. I had to go through the same thing with my hair, after a few months my hair grew in fuller & healthier looking and plus it’s just hair it will grow back!
Fine and thin aren't the same thing tho. Fine/coarse is how thick each of your hair strands are. Thick/thin is how many strands of hair you have on your head. Unfortunately, fine hair gets damaged real easy because each strand is so tiny and fragile.
That hair got BODY! I was that girl…. I didn’t want to let go of my length but my beautician, years ago, encouraged me to cut about 3-4 inches because of the damage. Because of her coaching and care over the years, it’s healthy and longer. You seem to be just as concerned about hair integrity and health as she is. Her hair looks beautiful! Great job! #subscribed!
Let me tell you how bad I needed that Quote at the beginning of the video “don’t stress over things you can’t control” cause I’m over here stressing between my wedding planning and other stuff... thank you
Iv seen in hair salons women with her hair ends and don’t want their hair cut.....lady your a good hairdresser you showed and told her how much needs to come off and she worked with you...I love that comment it’s just hair....
I have to give great compliment on how gentle you are with your clients hair. I’ve watched many of your videos and paid great attention to that detail! Thank you for that!!! I wish all stylists handled hair with the same care! 💞
She has the most beautiful hair! I love how shiny it is and how it holds that curl even after u brushed it a couple of times. You did an amazing job with it.
I can see already that you know hair! I'm new to this channel but hearing you differentiate between fine hair and thin hair let me know you know hair. I don't know how many times I hear people get that confused. A person can have fine strands but still have high density. Thank you for clarifying that
Watching you cut hair is SO satisfying, love this!! Also I was one of those ppl who held onto my damaged hair because I wanted to keep my length. In 2019 I chopped 10 inches off and it all grew back in 2020. My hair is currently the healthiest it’s ever been! Of course, to each is own when it comes to whether or not you want to cut but it absolutely helps in terms of health and hair looks better when even as well!
Didn't you find it grew better too? I do a good ends chop maybe every year and a half? And my hair grows in better afterwards, which idk it might be just the visual of the healthier ends but it feels like it
It’s sooo satisfying seeing dead, thinning ends get cut off. I recall refusing to get my hair trimmed because I was desperate for it to grow after a disastrous bleaching job. Last year I went for a big chop, 7 inches to be exact. And it’s the best decision I’ve made. My hair looks and feels better!
When you pulled out the flat iron I had to replay the video 😂 I was like “she didn’t already press it?? It looks so sleek already!” You could do a whole length check w a blow dryer like that 😩
Heat isn’t the enemy, lack of knowledge is.. soo true! I big chopped almost 4 years ago. Can’t believe it’s already been that long. But through these four years i always dusted my ends to make sure i avoid split ends. It helps keep my hair healthy n growing. I love how healthy her hair looks after the cut beautiful
I so wish you were in the Atlanta area. Sometimes taking care of my hair is so much and you seem like a stylist that cares so much about the health and care of your clients hair. You seem like you actually give them convo on how to take care of there hair. That’s the type of stylist I love and I wish there was more of you.
There are tons of excellent stylists in ATL but their waitlists are long. Check out Simply Tamika here on YT. I think it may take 2-4 months to get an appointment with her though.
Guys, Idk, perhaps It’s weird; look, I’m a dude, in my 30s, a commercial architect, I have no interest in hair styling, like at all...I have a fade!....BUT WHEN THIS LADY PART AND CUT HAIR, mixed in with her voice.....BLISS! ....apparently when life give you grief, No drugs and alcohol are necessary....Try watching "Deeper Than Hair" vids!...weird, not weird; whatever I’m happy now!
No need for explanation. I enjoy woodworking videos. Will I build anything...probably not. But my general knowledge gets a boost. Trivial Pursuit anyone??
Blunt, does not equal healthy. No human beans grows blunt hair. the front of her hair needed cutting as well because the ends were thinned out. Hairstylists will cut the "unhealthy" hair in a style and the broken ends at the front get left out, so it can blend with the style. Not hating on the stylist. And my hair is past mid back but in layers, so I am not speaking from a view point of having short hair, and I trimmed about 2 weeks ago, so it's not like I am against cutting.
Beautiful need more hair stylist like you cause hunny these people now a days DO NOT specialize in hair care. Most of these girls don't even have a license
I was just putting my phone down so I could go to bed early but then I saw the thumbnail and clicked super fast. All week I’ve been thinking about trimming my own hair after seeing your last video. My husband told me to just leave it to the professionals but you’ve somehow convinced me that I can actually do it. 😆 Her hair is perfection after the cut. I love a fresh, blunt cut. 👌🏾
YOU👏🏽 DID 👏🏽 THAT 👏🏽! I really appreciate your passion to truly care for, not only the hair, but for your clients. You are genuinely humble with a golden personality and heart - what a gem!
Love this! I don't have the same hair texture. I do have fine/medium hair but a lot of it, so it's nice to see someone actually caring and just not being rough/harsh with it.
I don't have the hair type for many of the tutorial aspects to be personally helpful but this is so gorgeous. I love seeing people come in needing help and leaving looking gorgeous and having healthier hair.
Everyone feel a type of way when they get that serious cut but my ends feel so good. I actually only got an inch taken off and my hair blunt cut and I love itttt
The most annoying thing about hair is how different it is for everyone. I saw a video of someone with knee length hair whose never gotten a trim and refused to do it and it looks beautiful but some people have to get it trimmed or it'll never go past your neck. It makes it really hard to know what to do with mine
my hair was nearly knee length when I didn't cut it for seven years, but I still had noticeable damage when you looked close. I've started trimming it again, which helped a lot, but I'm considering big chopping to get rid of the damage up the length. not trimming the hair isn't really a good idea, just don't over-trim either.
I think I know what RU-vidr you're talking about; she puts her hair in twists? I understand why its hard to know what to do since she basically says she doesn't do very much but spray aloe vera and I think apple cider vinegar (?) on her hair
Ive been watching your channel for over a month now and I thoroughly enjoy every single video. But the thing i love about you is how REAL you are. Your voice is so gentle and soothing, and your content/work is therapeutic and so satisfying to watch. ☺️ Sending you love all the way from New Zealand boo. ❤️
I just love drunken curls that you aren’t afraid to comb thru them. It’s so freeing...you know her is going to beautifully blow in the breeze . Well done. 😍🙌🏽
I love how you are huge on helping the hair thrive and not just simply giving a client what they might want even if it may not be best for them in the long run. I wanted to ask have you ever done hair on women who coven their hair for religious purposes?
I Love it when people are bold and happy to get rid of all the damaged end, especially when it is a lot of hair being cut off. It looks SOOOOOOO much healthier and flowy in the end. I love it!
I remember I bleached my hair and it was damaged and I REFUSED to cut it 😭😭 my mama was doing my hair one time and I saw them straight ends fall off I was so mad 😒😒 worked out in the long run though ❤️
I love your voice, that you are educating and don't judge any previous things done by client or others. Such a pleasure and more of us should have your attitude.
People act too crazy over hair. Why are people complaining about another person’s hair cut?? I’ll never understand it. And I’ve already made my statement about people holding on to dead/raggedy ends, in a previous video; I don’t get it🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Right. People complained when I got my really long hair cut almost four years ago from high length to above shoulder length. It had to be done. People said that I should have kept my long hair.
@@wwnnn16 Well for some, it took forever just to see whatever length they were looking for just to now have to cut it which to them could feel like starting over or a setback. Some women's growth rate are also slower than others. Yeah healthy hair is always great but that narrative sounds cliche to some women with slower growth rates.
This was so satisfying to watch!!! Admittedly I’ve always been one who scoffs when I see videos/posts with ppl holding onto dead, thin, frayed and see through hair. However, I totally understood when you said some just aren’t ready to let go and that needs to be respected.
So wonderful to hear “hair wisdom” because you don’t condemn either group. As you say, some people have their ends cut off a little at a time. Whereas, some have the courage to cut it all off at one time, no matter the length. Keep injecting your great knowledge with your well-balanced wisdom!! You did an awesome job on this hair stylist. I LOVE it!
