Halloween and Outlasting The Watchtower 

I have grown to really enjoy your posts. I refused to celebrate Halloween for years after I was first disfellowshiped..... it has become one of my favorite holidays since then. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me btw.

I'm glad you are here as we slowly deprogram. It is not an overnight process , and it was only April of this year that I found yours and Mike and Kim's videos. I was not raised in this religion , but got into it when my son was a toddler , so he only got to go trick or treating 1 time. For the first time in 20 yrs, I will be handing out candy tonight , and I look forward to making the neighborhood kids happy.

Absolutely. Jwdotorg is a large corporate structured org and they won't fall based on doctrine. It'll take an investigation from the IRS or some other governmental entity to bring it down. Now people waking up will help on the front end so that's why your videos are huge!! I'm certain if a study was done to see how many people leave due to the web...period, I'm certain those numbers are big. The Internet is their nemesis which thankfully they can't stop. Love your videos.

I love Halloween, I think it's a fantastic holiday, more giving than any other holiday. You have little kids coming to the door with their cute little costumes on along with their parents and it feels so good to give out an apple, an orange, some candy to the kids, even the older kids too. I dressed up as a cat :)

We enjoyed the video, you always have a positive slant, we enjoy the perspectives and the way you let other people hear how you yourself have 'evolved' / 'developed' over time. I think the same sort of think happens to all of us... We mellow. Clinking a glass and saying "Cheers!" will not bring demons to haunt you! haha! Thx again for the vid!

Amen Eric! It is simply idiotic to think people having fun dressing up and handing out candy, are doing so in cooperation with demons. It is just fun, social interaction. You are correct on the similarities, I was LDS since birth and while I support channels such as Mormon Stories to help others leave, I love and find much in common with all of you in the JW Apostenesta area. My job is to encourage those leaving controlling religion, and to offer symbolic hugs, to listen and love. I found you first listened to your judicial hearing as well as Sam's ordeals. I was hooked and felt needed.

Eric, DF'd in 98. Raised JW. Pioneered out of High School, never made elder but very active with KH builds and meeting parts. Same story as many, went to elders expecting help and understanding concerning doctrine and , found myself DF'd. Went through tough divorce - spiritually dead so okay with the elders on her end. Struggled to be re-instated because of family ties (felt I had too), attended for almost a year playing the game. Last straw was being told to my face by a militant elder that I was not "sorry enough". How the H do you gauge that??!! Family are strong JW's, have a very controlling mother, who relishes her role as conduct and attitude police. Sad thing was I was so programmed (word I learned from you) I never went to Apostate sites out of fear of a God who had already condemned me to death (according to the elders). So it literally took me 17 years to figure the problem was not me. My biggest struggle is I still believe in a Creator, but still haven't come to terms with the Trinity and Heaven. Don't buy the Hell fire thing. It is amazing how powerful the programming is, I feel guilty even though I have no desire to return to the "Truth" (psychologically manipulative term, who doesn't want the truth??) Finally expressed my love for Christ and accepted him in my heart. What freedom there is in being "born again in the spirit" and having Christ as my personal Savior and Redeemer, something only the so called anointed have in the JW cult. What a weight off my shoulders! I know many struggle with how to worship or even become atheist It is great you lend such strong support and assist others to find there place outside this destructive cult wherever they land. In 2004 went to college got BS in 09 and MBA in 12. In 06 met my wife and her wonderful family. Married to a woman who truly loves me for me. Got a career in Construction Safety, 6 figure salary. It is amazing the freedom and confidence you can have when not being brow beaten by congregation, family and JW friends. Even supported another to leave before I found your site and others last year. This freedom has come at great cost, family totally disowned me which weighs heavily on me. But found true Christian love in my wife, in-laws and the churches I have attended. What a difference to have friends that aren't looking to see if you're JW enough to associate with, who honestly want to love you and bring to the love of Christ! You are doing great work! thank you for your words .some of us are escapeing after many years ( myself 50 years) .i knew somthing was wrong ever since the jw website came out . but ive only just started the journey since may this year . my mind is now free but i am aware of the dangers of slipping sidways into another cult situation. i had a short conversation with a born again christian on another site today explaining that my wife is still in and i am slowley trying to help her to wake up . i was then bombarded with" you have both got to go on your knees and ask for forgivness and get out of the demon jws otherwise if you dont accept christ you will both go into the everlasting lake of fire " or words to that effect as near as i can remember. this is even worse that the watchtowers armagedon! at least there you are dead! but to tell somone of they dont submit to jesus they will burn in eternal torment forever ! what utter crap. so the journey needs the sort of thinking that you advocate . i hope my comments make sense . i still wake up some mornings with a sense of forboding even though my mind is now free of governing body mind control

Maybe the deprogramming will be faster if you deliberately do (objectively harmless) things JWs are not allowed to do. Like: donating blood, watch Game of Thrones, celebrate Halloween etc. It might increase your comfort zone.

OH MY GOODNESS! Is he waking up??? Today I received an email from my exboyfriend, who rejected me after I left the Watchtower 10 years ago!!!! It is so unusual that he is requesting to to see me considering we broke up (even though we deeply loved onr another) after I disagreed with Watchtower teachings. Everything I shared with him fell on deaf ears and asked me never to contact him again. As it goes, I was branded apostate and for all the years he never wanted anything to do with me. We spoke briefly today over the phone and confirmed yes, he wrote me the emails and he asked to meet with me. Im here speculating why a staunch JW would be interested in meeting Apostate girlfriend after 10 years?

I do not do Halloween but I have to stop this NONSENSE of being the LORD of others people opinions and beliefs. It is good when you tell people to tune out if you do not like it. MLK said it best."
