i absolutely loathe this movie.... or should i say i TOTALLY loathe this film. where i can dismiss III : season of the witch as not really counting due to NO michael/laurie/loomis and i can dismiss 5 : the revenge + BOTH versions of 6 ! + resurrection / tyra banks and 2018 as merely being forgettable due to their lousiness, this film i detest ! there is no apathy in me for this film like there is for the others i mentioned. this statement is coming from a guy who likes BOTH rob zombie halloweens and gives a half way there rating to KILLS. halloween 1978 is my all time favorite horror movie bar NONE. halloween 1978 is my overall number 4 all time favorite film of any and all movie genres. in KILLS : the more he kills the more he transcends . at the end of kills, he puts the mask back on and takes the beating. then he proceeds to slaughter the entire mob... the ENTIRE mob ... IMMEDATELY! shouldn't the slaughter of the entire mob have brought MM back up to his usual power level as opposed to still being in a weakened state ... 4 years later? also it has been mentioned elsewhere that after 40 years of NOT killing, michael is still fully charged at the BEGINNING of 2018. NEVER MIND that we are told right here in ENDS that periodically michael drags the homeless into his sewer domain to murder them. these three films KEEP forgetting the very rules they have set up in the previous film(s) in this trilogy. jeremy says he has no fear of michael because micheal only kills baby sitters and not kids. what about that kid who liked to dance in 2018 that michael murdered? it has also been stated elsewhere that this film not only disrespects michael, but also loomis. this film states in so very many ways that loomis was wrong! this film states michael was not / is not pure evil. michael according to this film was NOT the boogey man. michael is repeatedly disrespected throughout this film. the two best kills in the film are not even his. soy boy corey knocks him down and takes his mask away from him! NO RESPECT!!! when they jimmy hoffa-ed michael at the end that was the biggest disrespect. the coolest part of the entire movie for me was after laurie as a baby sitter watched the thing from another world in 1978, corey as a babysitter here watches john carpenter's take on the short story who goes there the thing. for me a LOT of the acting was really terrible! i was embarrassed for JLC with the book writing narration and especially the pumpkin pie baking scene. when she started talking about cherry blossoms i wanted to find my own sewer to crawl into! also, i actually liked the christine story arc. the whole nerd kid who is bullied and comes in contact with evil then goes through a transformation to becoming a cool kid dating a pretty girl including a 'show me' request to the evil entity. the problem is the actor playing corey really doesn't register. we have to be TOLD about his eyes, his dark path, etc. it really isn't shown through his acting. it is an empty performance. watch christine and witness how it is done by keith gordon as arnie cunningham. the OTHER problem i have with the corey storyline is ...IT SIMPLY DOES NOT BELONG HERE. it should be in some CW haddonfield high tv series,. this was SUPPOSED to be about laurie vs. michael. i like allyson in this film and have no problem with her characterization. andi did a good job with her character. will patton is great in the very few scenes he is in. his performance really injects the film with a lot of energy and warmth. he does a much better job of presenting someone who is over coming a near death experience. JLC really badly over acts in these 3 films. i like laurie strode in h20 much, much better. when they first showed the sheriff i was like 'after all of the killing in the last two films 4 years ago how did he get re-elected???' my dislike of the film turned to hatred when they tied mm to the vehicled to parade him around town. how was the town to even know it was michael myers's body on display? many townsfolk probably did not even know at that time of michael's return or of corey's killing spree. for all they knew the cops just lynched some random dude and then were sending out the message ' y'all better act right ... this could happen to you'. the ultimate disrespect was when they took his body to the auto lot and put him through the wringer. it all reminded me of one of the most popular jimmy hoffa death conspiracy theory. halloween ends not with a bang, but rather a wet fart.
Yeah Michael Myers was barely in the movie I feel like he was forgettable in the movie but since it’s the end it’s a let down way to end the franchise as a Michael Myers fan I feel emotional after it so I’m not a fan of Halloween ends I probably won’t spend my money on it when it comes out for DVD

Allyson pissed me off the most in this movie when her and Corey got to together she was only thinking with her lady parts instead of her brain there were red flags after he left that party and Allyson ignored them Laurie was the only one that knew something was wrong with him then he acts like it's Laurie's fault that he's changing then when he go's to kill Laurie and Allyson walks in after everything if she had just used her brain she would have seen Corey had Michael's mask and was dressed like him.
For me it’s part 1… it left a big what if. It gave Michael more of a mystique. All we could do is imagine what happened. IMO It was better off as a one & done film like carpenter intended it to be.
I watched this last night with my son. We willingly watched this even though we both knew it would suck. Everything was focused on Soy Michael Myers instead of the original Michael Myers. He was demoted to Mikey Myers.

Yeah, this one was so disappointing. I had SUCH hope for the rest of the movies after the excellence of 2018, but after Kills that hope was shaken. And after Ends, that sentiment was utterly destroyed. I'm just going to pretend Kills and Ends don't exist and Michael died in the fire in 2018. UGH!!
I look at 2018 as the Force Awakens now, it was safe but atleast it wasn't AS insulting to the franchise as later sequels. Also they couldn't follow it up. Now it's the beginning of a story that goes no where.

Personally, I'd just stop with the 2018 film, because that movie had a sense of finality to it, with the same ambiguousness that Halloween was known for. These other two sequels felt like they weren't planned when they made the first one, and it shows. They blew their load in one movie and when they got the greenlight for sequels, they veered too much in one direction where Michael is an unstoppable force and then too much in the other where he's a feeble old man. Very disappointing and disjointed.
I will say What a damn shame what they continuously do to Michael. Blumhouse actually has the balls to pretend they had different ideas with the franchise but this was done purely for money and it clearly shows from the start. That was the plan all along.

Just found your channel and I'm loving it. Your perspective is on point. I'm a lifelong Halloween fan who's been disappointed over and over again by these awful sequels. Personally my timeline is Halloween 1978 and Halloween II (1981). That sequel was highly flawed but is the best we can ever hope for. The idea that Loomis or Michael survived that blast is ludicrous. You likened the screenplay to a backyard play!! Love that!
I believe this is what many like to call a "hot take." The thorn trilogy was better than this re-quel crap, and Halloween 4 is way better than Halloween 2018 too.

This new series really did make it star wars comparable. 1,2, and h20 are basically the "original trilogy." 4,5, and 6 are the prequels (both even have a highlight-Halloween 4 and revenge of the sith). These new ones are soulless corporate trash. I'd rather watch the 1st RZ remake and definitely 3 "season of the witch" over this garbage anyday, heck even the studio cut of 6 (producers cut has a dumb ending but it is so much better and makes way more sense if still too forced).
Couldn't agree more. Some people will like it just because Halloween is in the title and that's fine but don't tell me it's a well made movie in the process. This is the difference between being a fan and a critic.

My reaction to Halloween Ends is probably like a lot of other people...WTF was that? About 30 minutes in I was like "OK where are we going with this?" Is this a horror movie or a drama? I was scratching my head damn near the whole time. Well it was better than the last one, but that ain't saying much. I can only imagine what this "director" is going to do for The Exorcist reboot..remake..sequel whatever the hell it is. Then again I rather not.

Totally, this was bound to be a bust. Halloween Kills and Ends did to Halloween 2018 what Halloween 5 and 6 did to Halloween 4, and Halloween Resurrection did to H20. They undermined one of the best sequels which were each anniversary entries. Halloween (1978), Halloween II (1981), Halloween IV-The Return Of Michael Myers (1988), Halloween H20-20 Years Later (1998), & Halloween (2018) are all awesome. The rest are either garbage or mediocre as hell as far as I am concerned.

David Gorden Green, Danny McBride, Chris Bernier and Paul Brad Logan took Friday the 13th Part 5: A New Beginning (1985), Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993), A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985) and Christine (1983). Mixed those four films together with the worst elements of Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) and Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995): The Producer's Cut. Thrown in a dash of Halloween H20 (1998) and voilà! The result is Halloween Ends and it's gloriously awful. And yet this new Halloween Trilogy got off to a good start with Halloween (2018). Yes, it stumbled with Halloween Kills (2021), but Halloween Kills was just a gap filler in this trilogy. That had been a big problem. Halloween Ends isn't just a big slap in the face for these two movies, oh no! This film is a huge slap in the face to the entire Halloween Franchise. It doesn't feel like a Halloween Movie at all! It's just boring, frustrating and disappointing. So many new characters are introduced in this one. All have zero personality and are simply one dimensional. Michael Myers himself seemed bored, disinterested and tired. Heck, when this movie FINALLY decides to be a Halloween Movie, I was about to walk out of the theater. Not even the Kills are good in this movie. How can you screw up so much with something so simple! Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode is the only shining light in this awful film. She's the only thing stopping me from giving this movie 0.5/5 stars. There are so many things about this film that I hate but I have no energy to talk about it. I have never left the cinema so speechless, confused and angry at the same time. Halloween Ends (2022) gets 1/5 stars from me. Worst movie of 2022 so far for me. It is by far the worst movie in the Halloween Franchise. Yes, it's WORSE than Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), Halloween: Resurrection (2002), Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 (2009) and Halloween Kills (2021).

The biggest problem wit this film's "big, brass balled swing" is that they didn't even commit to it in the 3rd act, it just gets killed off like it never even mattered in the 1st place. Honestly, I think they should've just committed to said idea as to give an opportunity to start a new sequel series wit a brand new "Shape" taking on the mantel along wit a brand new "Laurie" officially being able to take the reigns as there would have been an even more intimate connection between the 2 foes than that of their 2 formers', creating a profoundly brand new dynamic for the franchise that could've been interesting. This trilogy was just all over the place in the worst way possible. Oh well, at least the crap fest has ended n the horror community still has the superb film "Smile" to keep us all smiling. I just saw this last night Joe, and man I was disappointed on how things went with this movie. Just the idea of someone else becoming Michael and killing for him, doesn't sit right with me. This reminded me of Jason goes to Hell lol.
Halloween Ends wasn't divisive, most people agree that it was a really bad, disappointing movie all the way around. The last time that I was this disappointed leaving the theater was after The Last Jedi. Halloween 2018 was a great movie. Kills had a weak script but we at least got a REALLY good and REALLY brutal Michale Myers with a high kill count, so I can understand calling Kills divisive. But Ends was just a disappointment. I agree that the "Big Swing" in Ends wasn't at all logical. Without giving spoilers, the "Big Swing" in Ends totally didn't pay off and it cost us a HUGE amount of Michael Myers screen time. Micheal Myers got totally sidelined in his own movie for the majority of the runtime. I can even argue that Laurie Strode got sidelined in Ends. Yes yes, I know that Jamie Lee Curtis got the screen time, but Jamie Lee spent more time playing an aging, retired grandmother than playing Laurie Strode. We had to sit through Jamie Lee burning pies in the oven, making small talk in the grocery store with her friend while she told him to eat his vegetables and meddling in her granddaughters love life. All the things a grandma does. As a compariosn, for all the very serious problems I had with Terminator Dark Fate, the saving grace was at least when Sarah Conner showed up, we got Sarah Conner. The same cannot be said for Laurie Strode i n this movie. And I also agree that Allyson could have and should have been a FAR better character than what we got. Anyway, I'm getting long winded, so I'll stop here
I've seen alot of people defending or even Advocating for it because of its willingness to be something different. I don't mind different but it still needs to fit into what is already established, otherwise why not just make a brand new thing.
Same here, Halloween 1978, Halloween II 1981, and H20 are the definite trilogy and timeline for me also. I never liked the woke Blumhouse trilogy. In the 2018 film, Laurie's sudden transformation and "trauma" made no sense. In Ends she comes off as a narcissistic angry Karen (pun so intended LOL). In H20, it made perfect sense why Laurie would be so paranoid, after surviving the events of Halloween II, and learning Michael targeted her specifically due to being siblings. Speaking of lineages, in the non-canon 1979 novelization, they had Michael's power come from being possessed by the ghost of a vengeful Celtic boy named Enda. Laurie was revealed to be descended from one of Enda's mortal enemies, thus explaining why she was targeted.
I agree with many things you said, but I still liked it. I wasn't bored & liked JLC's performance, but I wish the battle was about 15 mins longer. FYI, originally Ends was to take place on the same night in 2018. A year in lockdown is when Dir. Green/writers wrote this version with the Corey character 4 years later. We'll never know what the original 'Ends' would of been if it wasn't changed & kept the momentum going still set in 2018... better? 7.5/10

This movie completely ruined James Jude Courtney's betrayal of the character like it has corrupted his performance in the previous two films which regardless whether you like dislike or are indifferent he was phenomenal in
¿Worst Michael? I think James Jude Courtney did such a great job. Michael was 65 in Halloween Ends. I love his concept in this movie, he was shot, stabbed, almost burned and beaten by so many people in Halloween Kills and he was still alive 4 years later even with all the damage and his open wounds. Michael at that point was more like an evil force of nature, he infected Haddonfield and he infected Corey an other people (in the novelization), he's part supernatural, but still part human, just like John Carpenter said. He was weak, yes, but still strong enough to lift Nurse Deb up with one single hand and killed her. Corey was able to steal his mask because Michael didn't wanted him dead at that point and Corey was becoming something alike Michael in 1978, Corey changed, that's pretty obvious, he became stronger because of Michael. Michael was 21 in 1978, and Corey was 24 in Halloween Ends. Michael was also dominating the entire thing during his fight with Laurie, he was kicking her butt, but Laurie took advantage trying to take of Michael's mask (his weakness) and then she stabbed his hand, also, Laurie was a trained prepared woman who knew him better than anybody else. Laurie deserved her victory and her happy ending, and I love the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis, a 63 y/o woman did most of her stunt work during the fight sequence, I'm so proud of her. I love Halloween Ends, it's such a divisive movie and I'm glad because everyday I know more and more people who actually appreciate the film. Magnificent score soundtrack by John Carpenter, a lot of Carpenter vibes, beautiful cinematography, an awesome acting performance by Jamie Lee Curtis, awesome autumn atmosphere, great kills, character development , awesome FX by Christopher Nelson, awesome mask, awesome Michael Myers thematically, and even if some fans didn't like Corey, they can't deny Rohan Campbell's great acting skills, he did such a good job playing Corey, plus, the movi gave Laurie Strode the happy ending she deserved. The movie is not perfect, but still great, I love how they focused on character development and about how pain and fear can create monsters, about how Michael evilness infected a whole community because, we can feel his presence even if he's not on screen, I love how they explored trauma and how we can try to move on. Laurie trying to heal was such an inspiration to me, I love her so much! Michael had his big moment in Halloween (2018) & in Halloween Kills, Halloween Ends had to be his DOWNFALL. I respect people who didn't liked Halloween Ends, that's understandable and it's fine, but saying it was the worst halloween movie as a fact is just DUMB! The worst halloween films are the boring and awful Halloween 5 (with awful mask, clown cops, Michael crying, a man in black), Halloween 6 (where an stupid cult forced Michael to have an incestuous relationship with his niece), Halloween Resurrection (Where they disrespected Laurie Strode, where they made a reality show inside the Myers house and where Busta Rhymes defeated Michael with Kung-Fu) and the vulgar Rob Zombie remakes (With unnecessary cliche backstories that took away the mysticism of Michael Myers, a lot of vulgarity, Michael looking like an metalhead girl as a child, an unnecessary rape scene, a white trash family concept, white horses, paramedics talking about how the naked bodies of the dead girls made them hard) - Halloween (2018) was fantastic, the best movie after the original from 1978. - Halloween Kills is the killer sequel. - Halloween Ends is the unique and divisive sequel that is going to age like the finest wine. John Carpenter praised Halloween Ends and Janie Lee Curtis is extremely proud about the movie, that's more than enough. You don't get Halloween Ends at all? Watch the special features on the blu-ray or read the novelization, it has much more Michael and much more content, but I think the movie is actually not hard to understand. Blumhouse should have had the mob beat MM to death then use this ending but, makes too much sense. Instead DGG offers up a love story about a kid who's being bullied by high-school age kids with just a little bit of Michael Myers sprinkled in.

I'm someone who loves Kills its my second favorite after the original. It isn't perfect but I love the way it portrayed Michael and made him feel like an unstoppable force that nobody can stop. This movie let me down and felt disrespectful to Michael. Also the final confrontation was so underwhelming

I enjoy both. I do not like the idea of erasing Jamie loyd/danielle Harris anymore than erasing Halloween 2 though. Halloween 4 with Loomis returning too was superior to h20 to me, might even be my favorite one. They just screwed up following up in sequels. Though give me 5 and 6-producers cut over these new ones or resurrection anyday. H20 would be the best of all if the real mother and daughter(jamie loyd!) had met and teamed up though, and I dont think anyone cared it they ignored 6(especially since only the theatre cut was widely available).

I will repost my comment, cause I may have upset someone and I didn't intend to do that. It is 3.30am here, and have been going through a few IRL issue with having to put mum in hospital as she has cancer. She is 71, so we're not sure if she will make it. In any case, I originally posted a comment for Joe, wasn't expecting anyone to jump on it. What I posted I meant one thing, I know how my brain intended it but it could be taken the wrong way. So take two. And I am sorry if I upset you Cyn's Corner. Wasn't the intention with the back and forth. For me, it feels like Halloween 2018, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends were filmed back to back, and I do not mean literally as in the time they were filmed, but in tone and feel. I actually enjoyed 2018 and KILLs, and not being in America, I didn't watch KILLs with all the other under tones that were meant to be involved in it, aka Trump mobs etc. Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was. It felt like a continuation of the 2018. As far as I was aware, they were pushing this as a trilogy, and that's what I was readying myself for. After seeing Halloween Ends, to me, it feels as if they had already filmed it prior, then lost the first two acts and replaced those with a shoe-horned in secondary plot that lead up to the original ending of Halloween Ends. It feels as if they read the back lash from Halloween Kills, test screened Halloween Ends, and felt this is more of the same, we should just cut the beginning, push it four years into the future and inject a new story. So in my view, Halloween Kills flopped, and they panicked. I say that because I feel I could easily edit the ending of Halloween Kills into the last act of Halloween Ends without losing too much of the feel. If you also pay attention to the acts, you will see that the streets seem oddly vacant in comparison to the final act (which would make sense if it was filmed at a different time back when they had all their extras for the original Halloween Ends plot). Of course, the above is all just based on feelings and the tone of the films. Sitting back and re-watching all three, I can see how if two other acts were inserted into Halloween Ends, it could easily continue on from where Myers rises from being beaten down, go on another killing spree as our heroes re-group to formulate some kind of trap which would lead to Myers being gassed out or drugged, thrown on top of a car and driven to be grinded up (aka the third act). All of the above is based on the feeling and tone of the films. Such a shame as I was looking forward to Halloween Ends.
It's okay, Suit! I wasn't upset; just a bit confused by what seemed like a bit of an overreaction. I wasn't trying to be snippy or anything when I replied to your first comment. I was under the impression you honestly thought they really had filmed the two back to back and I was just offering a clarification (not sure if you remember this but in the early days, the initial plan *had* been to film 2018 back to back with the sequel, but that was scrapped). We definitely seem to be in agreement that Ends was just ... *sigh* ... a MESS. I'm so very disappointed with it, as are so many fans. I had been hoping that after the mess that was Kills they would correct course and Ends would emerge as a better film. But nope. What a waste. An absolute waste. 😩
With regard to the undertones of political messaging in Kills, I never understood why Jamie Lee Curtis made statements about that, especially given the fact that the movie was made well before the pandemic and the obscene riots during the summer of 2020 and January 6th in 2021 and all of that. I think she was just trying to add something to the fire. But it was a nonsensical thing to do. I guess she thought people would forget it had been filmed long before all that stuff.
@@CynsCorner Good, cause that wasn't my intention. Just this past week has been hitting me from all sides. Yep, the plan was a literal back to back, often never happens. Ends, on its own, as a stand alone story, would have been fine. But not when they hype up a 'trilogy' and that trilogy is meant to be our main lead and Myers story. An absolute waste seems like an understatement. :(
I remember when Halloween was first released into movie theatres. I found it boring, yet the idea of someone close to me stabbing me to death was scary, so I always thought the original was scary in that sense. I had no interest in #2, because to me #2s were supposed to be flushed down the toilet. Since then I didn't watch any of the sequels until Rob Zombie made his version and I was so disturbed by the violence, I didn't even finish it. There's just something about being stabbed, that I find terrifying, and Rob's version was the most terrifying for me. I didn't watch his attempt at a sequel. I haven't seen any of the reboots/remakes/releases/whateverthef*ckthey'recallingthem/ since. I don't care about this one either. I'm sure someone's going to be really upset though.

I enjoyed Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills was enjoyable to me. A lot of people say there wasn’t a plot in Kills well the title speaks for itself. Self explanatory there. But yeah I don’t understand how 2018 Michael with 2 fingers missing puts up a better fight with Laurie and her daughter and granddaughter than this film. Made no sense. Like they need to explain why he stares out his sister window. But the house got destroyed. So no explanation there. Corey should had a redemption character arc. Dated Alyson and when Michael tried to kill her. He dies instead. Not that trash they gave us with him. Plus Michael should had killed Laurie Alyson Lindsey Hawkins Sheriff Barker etc. and be the last one standing and pretty much that’ll be the end of the franchise. Instead we got that trash. Fuck it.

Not on Jason level but still powerful. I don’t get how they fuck this up? It’s like they don’t care at all. I don’t blame any of the actors and actresses at all. They did their job. Which was fine but the plot was meh. Overall it was straight up disrespectful to Michael overall. He deserves better than this trash.
Super awkward. I was a good while into the movie when I thought, Michael hasn't shown or killed....wtf. Had the urge to walk out. Should have listened. There was a moment where Lori says something in such a Danny Mcbride way.
