Awesome ranking Lee. Can't wait to see kills soon. For myself, as long as you get a creepy Myers (or cochrane) + Loomis (or challis) + fall vibes + suspense/appropriate tone + creepy score, you have a recipe for a great Halloween movie imo. The OG 1 and maybe 2 do this best obvi, but most of the sequels deserve their fair share of credit for at least trying out new ideas and breaking from the formula to make something unique each time. 🔪 🎃

I saw Halloween kills more than a year ago and I must say it’s definitely in my top 3 or 4. I don’t think you’ll change your mind with your current ranking. Good stuff. Cant wait to see kills again finally after a year and a half tomorrow.

Damn this ranking was crazy lol. I was going to say halloween 5 was the most shocking but H2018 position was !!!!! Great list, I cant wait to watch H kills, it’s releasing today in Brazil but I already saw is hard to find a subtitled showtime !!!! But I’m gonna see it !!! Great freaking list buddy. Mine is close though I'd change a bit (2018 would move up, Rob's H2 would move down) but still, nothing but love. I also love the appreciation you give to Halloween 6 (I like the theatrical but I love the producers cut) and you perfectly explain how I feel about H20 lol. Keep up the great Spooky month videos!!

I think it's really interesting how your ranking of this franchise has changed. H18, H20, and even H2 have dropped all the way down in the ranking where others like H6 and RZH2 have risen. Not bashing your choices, of course. Just think it's interesting how this ranking has evolved.

Top 5: Halloween 1978 Halloween 4 (Rachel is a better lead then Laurie… and I liked Jamie better too.) Halloween 6 (the storyline I’m not a fan of… but the entire movie is very Halloween.) Halloween II Halloween 2018 (not the storyline) Bottom 5: Resurrection Halloween (2007) H2 (2009) Halloween Kills Halloween III (only because it’s named Halloween without Michael Myers. But its a cool stand alone).

The thing that I didn't understand is why did they use the tagline from the original movie in the trailer? The narrator literally says "The night NO ONE comes home". You can't blame people for mistaking H3 was a Myer's one.

I love H2. It was the first Halloween movie I ever saw in theaters. H20 is my favorite of the whole franchise though. I consider it the perfect ending to the series. As far as the rest I just kind of lump them all together. My ranking changes so much that it's pointless to even try to rank them. Except Resurrection. That's always last.

H20 did not age well. I liked it some 20 years ago very much but nowadays it feels so generic and slow. Well at least it made sense unlike the two new Halloweens with Curtis....

People have to remember that Resurrection is a product of it's time. That's when the teenage slashers where at their peak.

@@Hero11170 The 80's was the peak of slashers especially teen slashers and The majority of people always hated Resurrection. That's why it bombed, Took 5 years for another movie and It was a remake. H20 on the other hand was pretty popular in 1998 but That fits more with being a product of its time and Why it has lost popularity over the years.

I knew you had a lot of gripes with Zombie's first Halloween, so I was surprised to find you had such a high opinion of the second. Rob's movies tend to be either full bore exploitation, or brooding LSD induced fever dreams like The Lords of Salem and Halloween 2. I love that he wasn't afraid to get experimental at times. Laurie's downward spiral and mental break left a very lasting impression on me. Plus Loomis turning into a sellout douchebag was an absolute joy to watch Malcom McDowell perform.

Lords of Salem and RZ H2 are two of the very few movies I cannot sit through and watch. I've never seen all of either movie and H2 is the only movie I walked out of in theaters. Zombie has an interesting style, he takes chances - sometimes they hit, mostly they miss, but he absolutely can not do dialogue in any of his movies.

@@sirmang9032 Yeah, he's not for everybody, and H2 and Lords of Salem even divided the most hardcore RZ movie fans. Lords of Salem's ending, at least thematically, has a lot in common with Hereditary. Though I think the meat and potatoes of Hereditary was better constructed than Lords, which laid all its cards on the table in the opening scene.

@@SewerTapes I think if he decided to do 2 things he could be behind some horror masterpieces. The cinematography is there. The overall idea is there. He just needs someone to tell him to stop casting his wife who is absolutely awful as an actress and to have someone else write the actual screenplays. He nails everything in his movies except those 2 points.

I like your rankings! I would personally probably switch Halloween 5 and 6. I think the scene from Halloween 5 with Jamie in the laundry shoot thing is so iconic. I also agree that my expectations were low for Halloween Kills but I definitely enjoyed it. I thought it was much better than Halloween 2018

This is my favorite ranking on RU-vid. I essentially agree with all of it. Other reviewers seem to bash the majority of the movies. Nice to hear appreciation for Zombie 2 and Kills. I loved both movies. Definitely like 4 and 6.

1. Halloween (1978)- a classic 2. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch- love this film so much 3. Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers- love Rachel + Jamie. Love this film 4. Halloween 2 (1981)- classic slasher sequel 5. Halloween Kills- loved this. Great kills and simple story. Much preferred it over 2018. 6. Halloween 6: Curse of Michael Myers- a mess of a film, but love Myers in it and the atmosphere 7. Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Myers- a big mess yes, but love the final 40 minutes so much 8. Rob Zombies Halloween 2- lots of hate for this but I really enjoyed it outside of white horse 9. Halloween (2018)- not a huge fan of this film. Visually looks great especially Myers just didn't like story and really don't care to rewatch it 10. Halloween: H20- pretty much all you said I feel the same 11. Rob Zombies Halloween- dislike this film a lot. No issue with a no direction but bad dialgoue and beat for beat repeat of the classic OG takes me out 12. Halloween: Resurrection- simply fuck this film

Interesting ranking. I agree in some respects but am the opposite in others. Hooray for different opinions! Though I don't agree that California cannot have the right autumn atmosphere for a Halloween film. Season of the Witch did, to a degree, and having been born in the northern part of the state, I know it has it aplenty. That said, calling the H20 town Summer Glen was probably a silly idea. Hoping to rank Kills in the upper middle at least, looking that way.

One of the compliments I'll give Halloween 2007 is the updated score. Specifically the Shape Stalks where the piano is really heavy. Really gives the emphasis on how brutal Tyler Mane's Michael is.

My top 3 1.Halloween 4 2. Halloween 6 theatrical version 3. Halloween I understand the genius that is the first one but I really like the brutality of 6 and 4 and personally have more fun with them, 1 will always be more suspenseful and better made. This is made before me watching H Kills, I will come back with an update

I definitely enjoyed this theater experience with this Halloween movie. Myers is definitely a top favorite, love the dude, but I only like 3 of the movies lol. My ranking is: Halloween (78) Halloween Kills Halloween 2 I don't like Halloween Kills because I just saw it, I thought it was a truly great movie.

Great ranking brother. I am thinking of doing another one. I did my last one in 2020. Seeing Halloween kills again tomorrow. So funny the story you shared about watching the original Halloween with your grandmother. My grandmother is a fan of the franchise and Dr Loomis. She is the one who got me into loving horror. She is still with us and just turned 102 years young.

@@whereta3097 I’m thinking it’s gonna come out at midnight on peacock maybe 10-11pm tonight if we are lucky to get it early. But for sure in theaters today 7:30 so far is the earliest it’s gonna start playing. Tomorrow it might just be out so it could vary and start even earlier in theaters.

The story of your Grandma and H'78 was a nice touch. Back series ranking. I saw Kills. Gotta be honest, I feel disappointment. 😦 My ranking still stands as: 1) Halloween '78 2) Halloween II '81 3)Halloween III Season of the Witch 4) Halloween 4 - All others tied for last place (meaning none will be added to my permanent collection, no desire to see again).

Halloween 4: The Return, I don’t like Micheal and it bores me overall. 9.Halloween 1978 I’m sorry I’ve always found it boring 5. Halloween 6: The Curse, ive always liked this Micheal and maybe it’s a guilty pleasure but I love Paul Rudd in this 4. Either Halloween 2018 or Halloween 5 crazy almost driven mad Loomis is my favorite Loomis. And I love Old Lori in 2018 1. Rob Zombie’s 2007 Halloween (I feel the way basically everyone feels about the original with this movie. It scares the hell out of me!)

@@jamieward3260 I wish they would’ve just chosen a main character to focus on. It could’ve been Myers, it could’ve been Allyson or Karen or Tommy, just choose someone from which to tell the story. Because the events of Kills and the gore are actually cool and it’s entertaining, it’s just it felt like the story never began because I didn’t know whose story it was telling.

Halloween 4 is the best sequel, completely agree. I am glad to see Curse up there as well. Might have the best mask. The last scene in the theatrical cut Michael just looks incredibly scary. Still cant get it into either Rob Zombie film or Halloween 3 but good list.
