John wasn’t the best spartan in terms of strength, speed, marksmanship. Other Spartans were better than him in those but John was a natural leader and had something others didn’t…luck.

The lack of madrigal storyline this episode made it so much better. Why did they shoe horn that dumb story in it just takes so much screen time away from the unsc and covenant storyline

Jiralhanae is the species name for the Brutes. I don't think they're going to do the John is related to Makee thing, I feel like it will have something to do with the Forerunners choosing them in some way and giving them the genes either through their parents or when they were young and touched the keystones.

Could be a younger sister born after his clone died. His parents could have gotten off the planet and ended up on that trash planet as refugees after the viral outbreak.

It's amazing how different people can view one show. I came into this show not knowing anything about the game franchise and I absolutely love this show. I stay up every Wednesday until three a.m. on Thursday to watch the show when it is released. The only other show I've been this drawn to is The Mandalorian.

I actually liked this episode! Wanna know why? Things ACTUALLY HAPPENED! Halsey got fired, Miranda got promoted.. John learned more about his past... the villian of this season showed a bit more humanity and actually made me like her like 5% more. Oh and also.. WE ACTUALLY GOT TO SEE THE HALO ! Lmao. Just KEEP doing episodes like this K? Lol.

It feels like they are getting rid of Halsey. So they can have that Halo adventure in the games. Miranda keys, chief. That's Halo games right there. Episode was tense.

Love Halsey saying, 'I should have _explained_ it to you better that I don't care about you'. Like bitch, DON'T HAVE A KID IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION OF RAISING THEM!!!! I was amazed at how much they packed into this episode but then I realized how much time they saved by cutting out Kwan's 'story'

Talking about that “there shouldn’t be multiple reasons why a character is special” thing. And that being like bad writing. I’m gonna kinda call BS on that. There are tons of beloved characters that fit that bill. Like Calvin said: Superman. Eric says there is only one reason he is special. I disagree. He is special because he is Kryptonian and because of the yellow sun’s effect on him, yes. But he is also special because of his morals, his will-power, his inner strength. Things given to him by his family the Kents. Maybe I am misunderstanding what Eric means, but that doesn’t sound correct to me at all. And if I am misunderstanding what Eric means, I would genuinely love for anyone to explain to me what I’m missing because I would love to understand this perspective that is in my blindspot.

I’m glad they show how much of a terrible person Dr. Halsey is. Yes we got chief through her efforts, but she’s still a terrible person and war criminal basically for what she did. Best non action episode yet. And Pablo Schreiber did a great job of showing a mix of emotions all at once. Anger, anxiety, sadness, frustration. Good work. In the books, the combination of enhancement given to them made them 250+ LBS and 7ft tall by the time they were teenagers. Tons of physical enhancements that killed the majority of the kids injured many, like Sorren.

I’ve been critical of the lack of halo music throughout the show… but damn they know when to sprinkle it in at the perfect moments.

Eric, it pains me that you don't know the story of the Halo franchise. In my opinion, the Halo universe story is second only to Star Wars for Sci Fi universes. (Yes, better than Trek, its strength is characters). If you went and played the games, I really feel you would highly enjoy the story throughout!

Best parts of this episode were the inclusion of Kai screentime and the lack of Kwan-Ha screentime

I am hoping she turns out to be his sister and NOT a love interest, I hate when they do that, I mean the actress is beautiful, but c'mon. She has been struggling with her loyalty and being his sister or relative would be good.

You know what's great about this episode. It's all about the Master Chief, about Halo and ZERO madrigal and Kwan. God i hope we don't go back to that incredibly boring and stupid sidestory that just drags the whole show down.

I hope Halo fans can get over some of the things in this show. There's some pretty decent science fiction writing showing through as the series has progressed.

ALL I HOPE IS THAT Aaron's perception of Halsey isn't tainted for the main canon. Halsey is VERY DIFFERENT AND COMPLEX. You are supposed dislike and hate Halsey in the Halo TV series. They are starting make her more gray area but the damage is already done.

Their gene song is similar. I think they’re going with Chief and the Makee having ancestral Gaesh’s similar to some of the lore from the books. Not being actually blood related.

The reason Chief and that girl feel a connection is because they are reincarnated Forrunners. In the books it is heavily implied that Chief is actually a reincarnated Forerunner and the Librarian even implies it in the games. Perhaps both are reincarnated Forerunners who were one lovers, which is why they share that connection.

What kind of securing device does Eric have on the back of his phone?

Did Halsey inject covenant DNA into the Spartan subjects and it bonded with their DNA and that girl was a failed experiment that got dumped on that garbage planet and she lived or is the mutation something that naturally occurs in human genetics because they are somehow connected to the covenant species? I’m not familiar with Halo lore so I don’t know the story of the games

Good episode. I am happy and looking forward to more episodes, with no more Kwan. If we are forced to visit her I just want it to be once and not constant jumps back and forth between the stuff that matters and the "Kwan" problem.

In the game Didact’s wife Librarian has put Didact’s genes in to human indexes hoping one day some one posses them .in the game it was just John.but here two . Anyway halos are forerunner tech . Only the can access those . Hope this makes some sense

This episode really highlights how out of place and annoying the Kwan stuff is. If that storyline doesn't tie back into the main story then it will be the worst part of this or any recent show I've watched

I think Halsey does care about Miranda, but she might also be threatened by her intellect. Halsey likes to be in control, and if she sees Miranda as an extension of herself, then she might see her as a rival to her position of power.

In the game/book canon, chief was present during the fall of Reach, the game itself focuses on the Spartans of Nobel team. There is a novel and a comic book showing Chief's perspective and what he and some other Spartans were doing at the time that I highly recommend checking out.

The forerunner known as the librarian planted and altered human DNA to be the inheritors of the mantle of responsibility… after the didact relegated their DNA. after thinking of this and how some Humans were altered thousands of years prior to their existence…. Explains why these two humans can interact with forerunner tech

This Blessed One thing is a spin-off concept of the Reclaimer in canon Halo. I won't spoil it since it's fairly similar but the execution is VERY DIFFERENT its less cliché. Also Aaron is playing through Halo, so I don't want to spoil him. I don't know if Calvin remembers.

There is a very specific reason why the Covenant is at war with Humanity and why they don't say it in the games. And they show has already deviated, so I'll explain. Basically when Covenant first discovered Humanity on Harvest, they used a Luminary to scan for Forerunner artifacts. According to the Luminary, Harvest was full of artifacts...except it was referring to the humans living there. This discovery forced the Prophets to reexamine their prophecy or translated text that formed the basis of their religion. A Forerunner ancilia or AI, named Mendicant Bias, who's core remains on the Keyship within High Charity informed the Prophets of the mistranslation. What they thought translated as *"Reclamation" * was supposed to translated as *"Reclaimer" *. Meaning that Humanity are the true heirs to technology that the Covenant worships so much. The prophets realizing how this would undermine their entire faith and usurp their position, decided to cover it up and declare Humanity enemies of the Great Journey. So Humans could have totally been allowed into the Covenant if not due Truth, Regret, and Mercy political maneuvering. All this information mainly comes from the book Contact Harvest, pretty good read especially if like Johnson and want to see Chieftain Tarturus' origins.

(minor spoilers for the start of Halo 3 further down for those not wanting to get spoiled). I think the reason for the change of momentum when he was put under stasis is because their armor weighs half a ton or more while their wearing it. So without his augmentations active(which I’m pretty sure are rendered useless, as with the rest of his body when under stasis), the weight of the armor exceeding the weight/momentum he’s able to carry without augmentations active basically means that the weight of the armor & gravity do the rest, aka plummeting straight down. I can’t recall an instance where stasis was used in the same exact way as they did in this show but they’ve done similar things in the games, like at the start of Halo 3 for example. (Incoming spoiler) At the very start of Halo 3 Chief is falling from space due to jumping out of a Covenant ship & starts hurdling toward the Planet like a meteor so Cortana initializes the armor lock function that Spartan Armor has(which pretty much just locks up the entirety of the suit, making it completely unmovable & protecting the wearer inside)so that when Chief hit the planet, he’d still be okay. It’s like dropping a big heavy rock in the sand if that makes sense, the big heavy rock being a Spartan in this case though.

John's genetic differences is what makes him exceptional. Being a Spartan isn't the same. There are many Spartans, and all of srarted as regular humans. Halsey said it herself: John represents the next step in human evolution. She recognized that he was above and beyond any other child candidate they selected. That attitude that this would be some kind of "Mary sue" plot cop out is just stupid.

The Soundtrack when Chief discovered „the Ring“ was soooo beautiful! I got mad chills as the music rose and you saw part of the ring disappearing in the clouds! Sean Callery doesnt get enough credits for his work.

Sadly, there are a number of reasons I don't like the _Kwan_ storyline yet.¹ For one thing, the character is insufferable. This wouldn't be so bad, if the audience was given some hint that her goal was even remotely realistic. She's ostensibly tilting at windmills. Completely blind to the reality of the situation (which got people hurt/killed). Included in that is her inability to reconcile the situation or to see _Soren_ is not an enemy. As a result, she ultimately comes off as bratty to me. So, IMO _this episode_ was a refreshing departure. *EDIT:* In that scene at the end, I saw a _"connection"_ but *not* a romantic one. ··•✺•·· ¹ ─ And I cannot help but feel that much of what we're shown with her storyline is simply filler.

The Spartans were trained by six years until teenagers, 13 or 14 and then were genetically augmentated. There were 77 candidates and only 30 candidates survived the augmentations, at least officially. I can list the augmentations, they are really in depth.

This episode was a pleasant surprise, as well as a reassuring episode to alleviate fears I had about the show. See, by this point, episodes 1, 3, and 5 were the only GREAT episodes. Episodes 2 and 4 were just... okay. Nothing extraordinary. So I was fearing that it would the pattern for the season. The odd numbered episodes would the good ones (which means a good finale episode), and the even numbered episodes would be pretty lackluster. But that wouldn't make for a good season. And by the time the intro started playing for this episode, my worries were gone. God damn that scene with Chief, Halsey, and Cortana was good.

The Prophets claimed they inherited the ancient technology and when they found out that humans were the actual inheritors they covered it up and declared humanity a threat to the covenant.
