The bullet thing, i believe the weapons the civilians are using are of older weapons so possibly smaller bullets, while the UNSC wepaons are much more powerfull. the magnum pistol chief is using are 50 calibre armor piercing compared to the normal lead bullets of the civillians.

Its also important to pay attention, when the colonists attack the elites their shields are still up, when the dad attacks watch his bullets they all bounce off the Alien armor, the Spartans knock the enemies down destroy the covenants shields and then attack the “flesh parts” of the alien, heads mostly. In addition to the fact that has been mentioned the UNSC weapons are cutting edge and have a higher caliber so have more potential to damage enemy armor.

They could have used the famous Halo theme music for the intro and ending credits. Also Master Chief's helmet shouldn't come off so early in the season. There should be a build up to it.

When the show runners said they avoided the game, they were referencing the cannon stories lines. The equipment and design is still Halo, but in an alternate "silver" timeline, which they gave a nod to by calling the Spartan Team Silver, which isn't in the games. I do like they are giving us some indepth back story on the colonist, the whole reason for the Spartan program was to actually fight the separatist colonies, other humans before the covenant showed up.

The rebels are using weapons that are extremely outdated. The UNSC and Spartans have advanced weaponry and higher caliber rounds in those guns.

Shit my bro would be proud right now for this. He loved halo so much and a huge fan but he died in 2020. I bought him a bunch of halo figures and put it around his memorial garden. Man he would have loved this show. I love it. It was amazing.

For what I've heard from book readers Master Chief does remove his helmet in books. And I'm just assuming here but maybe Spartans have higher caliber weapons.

I always find it amazing that the soldiers that any organisation creates will be their greatest enemy if they ever disobey an order. But in this case, Dr Halsey is not afraid because she knows that John would never do anything to hurt/kill her but doesn't mean he won't kill the officers around her and thats whys the Marshal was afraid.

The bullet thing is quite easy to explain, civilians aren't just able to get military grade weapons but it is easier to just manufacture one right at home. To put it into perspective civilian weapons would be like WW1-WW2 era weapons while UNSC weapons are modern weapons. Both still kill people but the modern ones usually pack more of a punch

Not only are the guns different, but Spartans shoot more precise. A lot of bullets struck the armor which the aliens wear in conjunction with their shield.

I was worried that the human in the covenant thing would be like an equal thing. But naw, they see her as a key only. They are brutal and want to exterminate humans and that's perfect.

The director confirmed they did watch the games and talk to the game directors and devs and wanted to go farther than the games show more like the books Variety just wanted a headline to make people mad and click on their website

I quite enjoyed it. And like you said, they can push things further than *Disney+* would. Which is why I am glad we have other shows on other networks, like HBO has *Peacemaker.* I for one am glad they removed his helmet right away. Had they kept the helmet on, it would certainly be compared to *The Mandalorian,* no matter how different it may be in every other aspect.

Just FYI, but Miranda was Halsey's daughter in the games/books too. It just doesn't get discussed in the games. The difference in this is that Miranda is a scientist and not a ship commander.

Nice Master Chief is played by the giant leprechaun from American Gods. I only played a sample game of Halo once many years ago. But I know a number of games give a limited boosts to weapon fire to make them more effective. Maybe this is what happened with the Spartans have some type of boost. Also possible they just are able to concentrate fire in one area longer causing the alien armor to drop.

So in the lore the UNSC has upgraded weapons with like armor piercing bullets and pack more punch, but the outer colonies only have regular bullets that aren’t as strong apparently. The only thing that doesn’t make sense is when master chief used the 50 cal to slay three, earlier in the episode it didn’t do much in the human hands so it is a little bit of a writing hole.

I found it OK to show MC's face, especially in this context where they tried to "humanize" him, and it would have been hard to give him emotion he kept his helmet all the time. Honestly, they only get away wit keeping his face hidden in the games (I only played the 1st trilogy), because they never spared any seconds to give him emotions. He was just badass and that doesn't requires a face with emotion.

according to the production team this show is in what they call "the silver canon" and the games are "gold canon" So they can do their own thing which can be enjoyed by people who haven't played the games as well as fans.

I think their guns don't work as good as the UNSC's weapons because they are using really old guns by the time period they are on, like Ak-47 on 2552, while the Spartans were using standar military guns at that time, also I don't think the older guns are really useless but they might take a lotof shots before their energy shields go down compare with the gun the Spartans carry. I really enjoyed this first episode, can't wait for the next one:)

Bullet sizes. Thats why they shoulder checked the truck first as it could kill them. Those tiny AKs aint going to do nothing. But the AR and the weapons the Spartans carry use big ass bullets. Lol.

The biggest differences really are the covenant have a human which they probably saw activate something forerunner so they consider enlightened, in the normal series they outright considered humans heretics and hid that they all could sctivate forerunner tech. The story of the war has been altered so important early events happen next to late events over the course of like a year rather than across 30. And they hid the spartans memories of childhood while in canon they immediately told them they took them and later told them they cloned and replaced them. Also weve seen johns face just only in animated series, comics and the sort

For your questions why the UNSC guns work but the innies' don't, the reason is that the insurrectionists probably only have regular 7.62 rounds and while the UNSC guns like the Assault Rifke, Battle Rifle and DMR are chambered with the same caliber, they used FMJ and/or AP rounds while the Anti-Matériel rifle is chambered with .70 cal AP and the pistol is chambered in .50 cal AP which is canon to the game. As for the M134 though, Chief just magically chambered it in plot-armor piercing rounds. Also for Halo fans getting butthurt over the DMR being full auto, it's actually lore accurate. All the rifles in Halo are select-fire weapons. So yes, the AR, BR and DMR are canonically, capable of full-auto.

Master chief was hitting the weaker points of the shield and the soldiers didn’t have as good aim.

Hey friend! Remember Chief always removed his helmet on games, but cinematic angles never showed his face. Also in books do this! In Halo 5 you know Halsey was Miranda's mom, and also in books. And about weapons, civilians never downed their shields! I loved this!

Dude I lost my fucking MIND when Chief landed down. You must be on drugs. I was screaming like a little boy. However it was hyped up child’s play. It wasn’t anything exactly horrific to see by any means. They did it well.

why other episodes not here?

There are things in this show that just aren't great. But there are some things in this that I really appreciate. I really appreciate the little tid bit at the end that nodded to the animosity between regular soldiers and the Spartans, which is not explored in the games. I also appreciate that is doesn't glamorize the UNSC like the games do and it frames them in a more gray light, if not almost villanous light. That's always been left to the books.

the rebels have awful outdated guns (like 1960s guns) as they scavenged them, the UNSC (spartans) have weapons from around the year 2550, to put that into better perspective it would be like vikings using bows against modern soliders with full balistic armour using modern guns

From the news and articles I read, this series is INSPIRED from the HALO series but not based directly on the books OR the game (Well, it is obviously) but they mean storywise. It is its OWN thing. Think of it as like, another HALO verse where things will be similar but different, best example, our x3 Spidermans in No Way Home. All Peter Parkers / Spidermans but all different. As for the guns, SPARTANS weaponry whittles down the covenant shields much faster. More power. Technically, a normal marine couldn't handle the pushback from the Spartan guns. About his face; took gamers 20 yrs to finally see his face in the final games. The series shows it to you in the first episode... Some gamers take issues with that, understandably. But for NEW viewers, I think it was necessarily.

"Y 1883" is an Epic Western Prequel to the hit television show staring Kevin Costner "Yellostone" but "Y 1883" can be watched as a stand alone staring Sam Elliott, Tim McGraw, and Faith Hill. Dude, the point of master chief never showing his face is so that the player better identifies with him. Any person playing the game can more easier place themselves in the place of the character. Halo has nothing to do with any one actor playing a part in a movie or a series. It’s about the character master chief. It’s absurd to take into consideration the actor. It’s the actors job to play a part and that’s it and not about the actors ego.

With the weapons not effecting the elites, as I’ve seen a lot of people say. It’s because the civilians were using MUCH older weapons. Our bullets now a days would never be able to break through covenant shields. While UNSC weapons are the most up to date military weapons we have. So they probably are using much bigger bullets and armaments. The mini gun thing could stem down from the fact that the guy barely got to use it. He’s driving around and is instantly taken down by an elite. Which you could argue shows that they feared that weapon. And it even showed how the old weapon can barely break through the elites armor and skin. The red elite at the end his shield was depleted and yet the civilian weapon had no effect. Really showing how weak the old weapons are. Was not a PERFECT episode but definitely a GREAT episode looking forward to the rest! P.S I also do not like that they took his helmet off. It actually makes me livid that there has been 20 years of halo and we’ve never seen his face and then the FIRST episode just throws that all out. I totally agree on WHY he did it though, it was a trust thing and helped to calm her down. But they could’ve done what they’ve done SO MANY TIMES before and have him remove it but not show us. And then he puts it back on. Anyways I still really liked it and I’m HOPING that it won’t do the thing where his helmet is off ALL the time now. It should BARELY EVER come off again. We will see though.
