if it wasn't happening in front of me, the arbitrary unit possession stuff would sound like straight up something out of a school playground rumor "yea bro, plug in a second controller, kill him seven times, pick up two grenades, sneak across the bridge without getting seen, throw two grenades, then you get to spawn as a marine!" lmao
God this is the definition of nostalgia for me… I actually had a epiphany while watching this. I also had a bunch of high school friends that would always just sit sit there and watch me play Halo 2 all day, literally for hours and hours locked into my pov… I actually had a couple friends that would literally invite me over to their house to just watch me play. But I also had this 1 friends house I played at the most, and he also put in a VHS and started recorded me playing… Then shortly after I bought the dazzle 90 aswell… and used Sony Vegas with a cracked key aswell… His dad would actually drive me and sponsor me for my first couple tournaments that I won here in Florida when I was 14/15. I realized a lot of us from that time period had very very very similar childhoods it’s actually crazy… not only just playing the game all day everyday but also what we were doing outside the game… and most likely prolly around the exact same time in life. For example, I most likely got my dazzle 90 right around the exact same time Eli did and everything else he said in this video… I feel like a lot of us lived such similar childhoods more than we think. Man I love this ❤❤❤ Speaking of airguitar, he has my minitage on his page if anyone wants to watch it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G23mI19S_Fs.htmlsi=57wpWbo79TfDgNmn Early Halo reach with bloom
I mean , a lot of these glitches were probably found out many years after the game came out , including recent years , but yeah , it would have been possible to have a video because youtube was around in 2005. But it wouldn't be as in-depth. The knowledge people have acquired and tricks people have figured out since it came out in 2004 and just all the old halo games in general is insane.
What's also crazy is that I played this game when it came out. But I had no concept of glitches or even what a speed run was. So to see the game today. 20 years later with all this stuff is crazy.
I believe 2006 is around the time one of the first Halo video websites was around I can't remember the name of it right now. And of course HIH was around then as well EDIT: actually I think that's when everybody started switching to youtube
Thanks for the awesome showcase vid and all the glitch explanations. The 3 hrs just flew by. Hard to say who won the last elite standing on the QZ gondola ride as duel guy was hidden.
i remember trying to figure out how to fly that phantom for so long this is epic wow i also loved to visit high impact halo lol this video is truly a throwback
Love your Videos Monopoli!!! You are my Halo-King. Watching you play brings joy to my heart. Ive grown up with Halo, and watching the goat do it is just always a happy Moment for me. Thank you ❤ For Everything.
this era was equivalent to 1999. cant make this shit up how insanely rare these small eras of culture are. videogames will NEVER be able to be like this again. masterpiece
at 1:04:45 instead of checking out all the cool faces, You can grenade jump onto the phantom and ride it to the TOP of the level. Since you showed us the bottom I figured its worth mentioning you can also get to the top! Thanks for the video!
If you mean the multiple weapon glitch it isn't very useful. It can only pick up dual-wieldable weapons and there are a lot of situations where the extras will be dropped, like if you try to pick up another weapon normally.
I've been around for a long time, seen a lot. There's quite a lot in here I didn't know about, and that surprised me. Love the emphasis on showcasing neat glitches. Arbitrary unit possession is something I was aware of, but thought it was limited to sharing the same body as your co-op partner. Halo might be on the ropes for multi-player, but it sure isn't in terms of what you're doing here. As long as you continue to love what you do, I'd love to see you keep at it.
One thing AUP taught me is NPCs have fall damage. I died from fall damage (not timer) as a Grunt once, and you took fall damage as a marine near the end. Fascinating!
only 7 minutes in and i was laughing so hard at johnson teleporting away, then thinking that the teammate respawned as johnson, only to get bamboozled and the teammate is actually the turret
Man you should be glad that I wasn't the host instead. If it was me, I'd have a LOT of annoying (albeit genuine) reactions lmao learning that these insane glitches like the possessions exist in this game. I used to mess around a lot with Halo CE PC's Dev Trainer a long time ago using the Bump Possession mod because I've always wanted to play as a Grunt and such. Kid me would have had a field day with these glitches in Halo 2 lol. Thanks to you and your team for discovering these glitches!
For the tutorial level, it's also possible to use one of the larger boxes to push you through the invisible barrier that appears in the gondola after activating it (where Johnson says "Earth, haven't seen it in years."). Put the box in the doorway so it's partially in the gondola, activate the trigger, and then stand on top of the box. Then hope that when the door shuts, the box propels you through the invisible barrier. Usually it doesn't work, and I haven't successfully done it on MCC. Better to just do the hitbox displacement
I love these tricks. I remember driving a warthog by possessing it on halo ce using hex swap on the silent cartographer. By the way, there is a strange glitch on halo ce on console that swaps weapon models that I’ve heard nobody talk about ever. You could get for example a rocket launcher with the skin of a shotgun. It served no other purpose but for visuals. All you had to do was save using a controller on port 1, then reload the game with port 2, save with a different weapon on a new checkpoint, and load again with controller port 1. Weapon skins would be swapped.
@basigerman got it working with ease. Thanks for the tip! I'll do some more experimenting with it to see of it leads to anything more significant, but the animations it causes are already pretty funny.
@@MisterMonopoli awesome man! I remember there were some fun combinations even though they did not last a lot. My dad discovered this way back on the HCE days, and I always wondered if someone had ever stumbled upon it, Im glad it has come to your hands!
51:35 I knew about being able to trigger the gondolas continuing by sniping the Hunters (and thought for the longest time it was mandatory if you'd gotten early gondola) but didn't know about the gondola slap. Have to wonder if having Sputnik active would launch you even faster...
You're like the Sakurai of Halo lmao. Masahiro Sakurai is the creator of Smash Bros and the way he tests characters is that he uses 2 controllers and fights himself at the same time.
Not sure if you know this and it just isn’t interesting enough to show but you can also get Miranda to hop into the spectre turret for the Tartarus fight. So you can have Johnsons take his shields down and Miranda kill him for you.
I though you will show it, but in halo 2 outskirts you have a secret water wall. Once you reach the first wave of enemy after you go in the warthog. You can get on the roof by jumping over the sniper jackal cabine. I was hoping to see this one. Another glitch that i found on my own back in the day. Everytime you finish a mission that has a continuity, if you used the energy sword to 0 and still keep the weapon for rhe next mission. Exemple you end arbiter with the sword at 0 and start oracle with it. The game automaticaly have to give you a weapon with ammo by default BUT since you have an energy sword with nothing. The game replace with an infinite energy sword until you swap the sword for another weapon.
Yeah, there was a whole lot of stuff I didnt have time to show. I only had 3 hours, but I feel like I could fill a 24 hour block with all the awesome things in H2. The water wall is a classic, but not that flashy to show off so I decided to skip it. The pelican entrance is shown at the end, but not in the traditional sense of riding it as it flies away.
Excellent video brother, I wanted to ask you if perhaps there is a tool to make modifications to Halo 2 for the Xbox, I know that on PC there are a wide variety of modifications for Halo 2 but there are few modifications for the classic Xbox.
Halo 1 has a different fail-over when you cannot be spawned. It tries to spawn your teammate in a ton of possible locations every frame, which gives a huge lag spike instead of allocating a placeholder biped (and presumably only checking a few spawn locations near you per frame, adding a slight delay in some cases but preventing H1's lag). I think it's this intermediate state that's only in H2 that makes the magic happen. Edit: I'm not an authoritative source, I was just in the HaloRuns community when the H2 lads were first finding this, and this is the best of my memory.
@@Zelmazam1 I'm not certain enough to say no, but I've never seen it. There are other cool hitbox tricks in H1, like getting crushed by a banshee in a way that squeezes your hitbox in a way that displaces you a huge distance (look up the last ~20 seconds of an Assault on the Control Room speedrun).
No, you would just spawn as an elite away from the phantom, not inside of it. There is no animation to enter the phantom similar to as I did with the pelican at the end of this video. The only way to fly it is to become it, not pilot it.
@@UnGrumpy1 Yeah, everything here should work just fine on OG. To turn into the turret, first wait for the tram with the marines to disappear then get the pinch like I do. Then restart and wait for them to disappear again. Then betray and delay until johnson places the turret on the ground. To do the teleport trick, jump like I do at the loads and melee at the peak of your jump.
@@MisterMonopoli I will pal, are there more like that in the vid, I haven't had time to watch it all yet but now I will have time. The company I worked for went out of business so I'm out of a job for a while, this will help pass the time, thanks man.
What is up with the Heretic leader making that noise when he falls off the banshee? Do you know what causes that? It sounds like the "infinite collision" thing that happens when an object is stuck in another, but obviously very different...
The game checks that he should be dying and plays the fall-to-death sound, but he can't die so he just does it all again the next check, and the next check, and the next check, and the sound plays every check. Similar thing happens during the Tartarus fight if he falls off the edge, but Tartarus respawns to prevent the fight softlocking.
they speak faster, activating some mission triggers sooner. You see something similar in Fallout 4 speedruns where they change the language (I forget which language)
Yeah, its possible. I've done it while its attached to the rail so I wasnt able to move around. If you deloaded the rail and then AUPd it you would be able to move it similar to the spectre turret on TGJ. You wouldnt be able to get into the intro cutscene room though because its never actually loaded during normal gameplay. Beyond the wall that should house the command center is just solid space. You would be able to get it into the bomb room or ending cutscene room.
@@UnGrumpy1 Ghosting wont work on Vista or MCC unfortunately. But you can still do all the major tricks in this video. Just go the normal route and let the doors blow up..
@@UnGrumpy1 The major things that wont work on MCC are superbouncing and ghosting. You also wont be able to do fall timer glitch in vehicles with a stored sword lunge.
Hi, we had an argument about mcc being p2w months ago, I've had a pc for months now, and I can say with 100% certainty that I was right. Aiming is way easier now its a joke, i literally bought more skill dude, you were wrong.
