What a beautiful community we have right here in this comment section 😢 memories, Halo will forever be one of my favorite memories... Loved all the moments with people I have never met in person, we were, and always will be family!!! Halo brought me so much happiness, such a masterpiece of a series, but after Reach, nothing was the same.
If you were a kid in the early 2000’s you know the nostalgia hits hard. It’s almost overwhelming because the music is just that good. I didn’t realize it back then but I do now! I miss the good O’l days!
I can't help tearing up at the beginning. The choir always makes me so fucking emotional. Nothing represents my love for Space more the the Halo series.
i feel you. the producers back in halo 2 were really serious about their work, not even just for the profit. they wanted gamers to get their moneys worth, and to enjoy the game the way they do. i feel this way with my friend and i's universe we created. its very interesting to me and him and we could go on talking about it for hours, even days on end, never losing interest. i wish that the halo developers still took their jobs as seriously as the old ones did. R.I.P. halo... we will miss the bungie ways of productions! at least now we have destiny... i will forever mourn for halo!
+MS8 Studios yep. They did things for effort and self accomplishment, not money. When bungie said halo was done, Microsoft made a whole new company just to pour shit halos for profit. Bungie believe it or not did the right thing by refusing to be the company that sold out.
This brings back so many memories. Halo parties, playing on Xbox Live wayy late on those outdated rear projection tv's, trash talking, junk food, super jumps and glitches, trying to beat legendary campaign with your friends. Funny how music alone can take you back to a time in your life to the point where you feel like it was yesterday
Eastsidegeorgiaboy I used this sucker up until the disc got too scratched to use. I was surprised it could still read it all like that... I STILL have the disc, so I'll try to fix what I can and run it as it is...
As a younger brother, (my family didn't have wifi for a while) when my brother asked if I wanted to play the campaign with him on the (original) Xbox, it was the best thing I heard and I literally jumped for joy every time he let me play. Those were the best memories of my childhood. It felt like an absolute honor to sit and watch my brother play halo 2 into the late night and then have him lay the controller in front of me
Same here it was always fun to play the campagin. Ive been playing halo since i was 3 but of course i was a noob. But now... im beast at it with all that practice. But halo 2 had the Best campaign. The music, the adventires with the covanant. The marines voices. O and Seargeant Johnson too was my favorite marine. lol.
I felt this, I remember my brother and I, would play legendary, and complain about goofing off or try to find secerts (halo 3) having me miss school cause we stayed up all night and having our game disc damage each time so we have to buy multiple copies
The music that start's at 1:08 is so emotional...the choir....the scenery in the background...so much death and sadness in the Halo series...this represents all of that for me :(
This game defined a solid two years of my friends any my high school life. Now I'm 25 and I'm still watching this shit and thinking 'Damn I wish I could go back and play Halo 2 in the glory days.' Used to just sit in the menu listening to this music after a night of games. Damn...
you perfectly described my experience. Thanks for sharing that. I too remember coming home from high school, hopping on Xbox live, and playing for hours. Then leaving on the menu soundtrack and listening. It was enchanting and almost saddening at the same time. Hard to describe. I don't think there's been a game I've enjoyed more than H2.
Devon Sawyer And now I'm sitting here doing it again man. This music just gets me every single time, and I have a feeling that every handful of months for the rest of my life I will need to hear it for a bit. Pretend the real world doesn't exist for just 5 minutes and enjoy the memories.
The songs are: 1. Ghosts of Reach (from Halo 2: Vol.1 Original Soundtrack) 2. The Last Spartan (from Halo 2: Vol.1 Original Soundtrack) 3. Heavy Price Paid (from Halo 2: Vol.1 Original Soundtrack) 4. Unforgotten (from Halo 2: Vol.2 Original Soundtrack) 5. Remembrance (from Halo 2: Vol.1 Original Soundtrack)
@@ToastyWaffle456 You're right, the first song before "The Last Spartan" is the last seconds of "Ghosts of Reach". I also missed the last song which is "Remembrance". I edited the original post.
The first one is called "Cloistered Expectancy" from Prologue in Volume 2, which took me a while to realize since I thought it was only included in the beach part of Ghosts of Reach and the ending of The Last Spartan
I agree I remember when this came out, when I was a young lad I would stay in the menu for hours just to listen to this. The nostalgia makes me want to cry.
I remember a time when I was young, had no responsibilities and had a brother. Me and him used to play the shit out of this game on the og Xbox. We would make little stories on the maps like rvb... we never finished the game though. Then came halo 3 and we only played multiplayer (I only remember playing the first mission). Unfortunately some jackass broke into his house and stole his 360, then his og Xbox gets broken. We then downloaded halo 1 on pc and took turns playing on legendary, cheering each other on... This main menu brings back so many memories... I hope one day once he gets out of jail we can relive these memories again. Thanks if you read this :)
I came here for that part ! i wish the servers for halo 2 and 1 were still up. even though with all the next gen out and cool games about 2 years ago i would still go on to play capture the flag on blood gulch with all kinds of players. people still rocked that game. I miss it.
I think the first was harder when fighting flood. They always had a chance to get back up after u kill them cuz of the spores. Wasnt til Halo 2 when you can actually vaporize them so they're dead for good
Okay...who almost cried between 1:04 and 3:33? Makes you feel like everything is alright in life. Wish I had Halo 2 just to listen to over and over. It also makes you wonder...are we really alone in this universe? I refuse to say so...
I just had a watery moment imagining such a scene ? « You have 5 minutes left. I’m sorry. » As the doctor is turning around going back to his duties upon the living, I feel nothing. This hospital bed is not particularly confortable, the foam is razor thin and my back is aching. It’s cold in this room, or is it ? I’m not sure anymore, I’m starting to feel numb. My phone displays 95% battery, what a pity. I could call mom, or anyone, but I will have nothing to say. The time for arguing and getting back together is now behind. I walked my path to its final destination. « Wait, there is this song » The seething music makes it easy to cope all of a sudden. As I turn my head around to look through the window, I’m caught contemplating the stars in this dark yet beautiful night. My closing eyelids cannot stop a drop of tear from emerging. « I like this song. I.. Like.. »
Also I feel personally that the Music, Story, and campaign are the 3 best elements of this game, but it did have the most popular multiplier out of any video game ever made, it had more multiplier matches than any other server. Nothing has ever come close.
Yeah, he is right. MCC still has connection issues and you have to search for a party for every single game. In the beginning, search times were absolutely obscene, and the company took so long to only partially fix it. That act alone showed a ton of disrespect for previous fans of the series who wanted to relive the days of classic halo.
1 million views. Well deserved. Halo made a big impact on a lot of our lives in our youth (mine especially) and I'm just glad I was able to experience Halo CE, 2, 3, and Reach in their primes. Miss you Bungie. Thank you for the memories and making these wonderful games that had a huge positive impact on the gaming community and industry. And big thanks to Marty O'Donnell for the memorable soundtracks!
Developers don't realize how much music can add to a game. Halo's soundtrack is simply amazing, dare I say the best video game soundtrack ever, perhsps from any form of entertainment. It fits perfectly with each moment in the game, touches your heart and makes you remember the games and their story. It's just wonderful.
@@XFSAngelOfDeath My list goes 1. Halo 2 2. two-way tie between Halo 3 and Halo CE 3. Halo 3 ODST 4. Halo Reach 5. Halo Wars (I love Halo wars but something had to be at the bottom) Halo 4,5 and wars 2 do not exist to me
This song makes me cry at 1:08. It brings back sweet childhood memories. I remember waking in my bed with this song on the television screen my brother was playing at the time frame 1:08....in the dream my father was comforting me at that 1:08 clip. .
I remember just playing the last mission and hearing that moljnir mix in the end credits. I used to put my speakers on full blast and just air guitar the hell out of it.
Oh man I remember when Xbox was so awesome after I ditched the ps2. I wish I could just go back to those times. Halo 2 was the best game I ever had especially it's multiplayer was amazing. Time flies. One of my Favorite childhood games.
They outdid themselves with this one. Love it when video games put a strong effort into their music. It really makes the game stand out, as Halo 2 did. (And, let's be honest, as all Halo games do)
+LetsPlayGames2Day Its too bad Bungie basically fired Marty o Donnel because of Activision's plans for Destiny :/ Hopefully 343 hires him perhaps in the future when they resolve their differences.
All Halo games except 4 & 5. I mean cmon! Even Reach's decently generic vocal melody still gets stuck in my head more than any of the music in the nee trilogy..
I agree. One of the selling points of Halo was its original and unique soundtrack. I can't think of any other games with soundtracks that are as emotional and brilliant. There's just something about it . . .
gentlemenRick Agreed! I do love Destiny’s music as well though. Especially if you listen to the whole “music of the spheres” as Marty intended it to be! I guess I’m just a fan of Marty O’Donnell! Haha
I remember when halo was an original exclusive made by Bungie, everything was alright, no sprinting, no jetpacks, no kits... It had just what you needed, and it was nice. Then, a company called 343 Industries came and replaced Bungie unforgettable legacy with the first 3 halos, and released halo 4. It wasn't halo anymore... I hope someday, sometime, someone... in 343 read my comment and try to fix these things. I dont want an ultracommercial sci-fi cod, i just the shooter that told me that the videogame industry still has some ideas in their heads.
Well i'm sorry to say that would be kind of imposible, the fact that bungie said their done with the halo series and they gave it to 343 Industries so they can keep the series going, i think it's done from halo 4
im probably one of those few who actually liked Halo 4. I loved everything about four!! and Kits (if you mean Health kits) they where in Halo CE. and Reach, and ODST only. so, I don't see what your problem is with them
Halo 2 is a special game to me. The campaign was amazing and I spent countless hours on muliplayer. The true Halo games will always be 1 through ODST. After that I really couldn't get that into the story like I could before. I think I'm gonna replay them :)
Yeag! The original trilogy was the best! I honestly enjoyed all the spinoffs (Halo Wars, ODST and Reach) But tbh they werent THAT great. But man, Reach REALLY saved itself with multiplayer! Best multiplayer outta any Halo game for sure
For some of us, this was home... now, it just feels like a fever dream. Something I've yearned so long for, a feeling like that just doesn't come back. Let us all cherish the childhood of the early 2000's, how simple times were for us.
Man my favorite game ever the memories with my clan big team matches everything was perfect for this game. Sadly everything great comes to an end. Miss my Halo 2 clan UAF.
First 30 seconds of this video started playing and it was like pulling teeth trying to get myself to NOT be emotional. First time I touched this game was the first time I touched an Xbox back in 2004. It’s been almost 20 years and once I heard that soundtrack play it was like I woke up in that very living room with all my friends playing this like we used to. Time is for sure a buzzkill, but I’m just like every other one of the thousands of comments here and I had to come back for nostalgia purposes. I’m glad I’m not alone and from someone who abused this game in its glory days it was a pleasure to play with some of you guys even if we never truly met one another.
8 years removed form my previous comment, and here I am again. I yearn for the times of old, when everything was simpler, and I could boot up this gem, and laugh with friends as we stomped other players, then blame the lag and hackers when we got stomped. I wish I could relive this time in my past and experience this game again for the first time once more. Alas, that is not possible, so here I am, sitting back while I close my eyes and just pondering my memories with this game.
For me, this particular song, is the best i've ever heard in my gaming history and perhaps the best sound humans can produce! I love this game and its OST! #Halo #Xbox #HaloMCCAwaits
I was 5 years old when I started playing halo 2 and I was born in 2007 and I always loved halo and I think that this is the best halo because of the songs that would play when I opened the on the OG Xbox and I would sit listening to the beautiful music I will never forget halo 2.
This is honestly too much for me :'( Halo will always be so special to me, I first played Halo 2 when I was 6 and now I'm almost 16. It's strange to think that some people were 16 when they first played it, but also amazing because it shows that despite age differences, we can all be connected by something as simple as a video game and it's franchise. But also, seeing comments from people who were my age now when they first played Halo makes me think, in 10 years time will I be feeling the same nostalgia towards the things I like now? Probably.God, nostalgia is so painful at times ;_;
You blew my mind. I had always thought the exact same thing. This game has something that sucks people in and somehow they can never get out. And, best of all, it is definetly not a bad thing. Since is like having the chance of living in another galaxy, somewhere, far away, where we can all be connected in one feeling. It may sound weird but thats what this game kinda does to people. I cant explain it. I just know how it feels and all I can say is that is one of the best sensations I've ever had and probably will have in my entire life. You tell me about which is the best game of all time.
I was also six !!!! And I played the shit out of this game and on now I'm 16 and yes we all can be connected and I love the campaign so much and this is so special to me because halo 2 was my first game I ever played and I'm littearly tearing up because i loved that game so god damn much. :/
Not everyone was a huge gamer, but you didn't have to be a GAMER to love Halo. It wasn't just a game to a lot of people. It was THE game. Hearing these songs again just bring me back to that time, we were all talking about it!!!
My friend opened up his own virtual LAN servers for the game on PC. There's 3 servers running as far as i know, lots of players. It's been a couple of months since we've talked though, ever since he moved away so im not sure if he's still running them.
Yes, but this game introduced an interesting atmosphere... of two voices, two playable characters, and mind you... this was the second game. This was the begining of emotions and character build up, this games menu had music to imply that.
