It struck the perfect balance of the original's cat-like movement and silhouette, while being a bit more expressive and having more of an impression of a reptile.
Yeah I think halo reach ruined them with the upright posture, and a more savage animalistic face. Halo 4 elites are just predators lol. In general elites have lost a lot of their personality as elegant proud warriors that are also not entirely humanoid. Elites in halo 2 and 3 are the only ones I find to be cool looking, enough to want to play as one.
It would be easy for them to do this as well. Considering all the work they put into the armor customization. There are so many other things that still need to be done too. Idk where 343 got the idea that mcc is in a "finished state" when there is still so much needed to be done and many bugs to fix.
@@tairo_420 I hate that Halo 3 and Reach got all the love because right now the Custom Edition and Project Cartographer ports of CE and Halo 2 are still better than MCC but it doesn't have to be that way.
@@TheStrayHALOMAN “love” isn’t the word I would use for a majority of the added armor to Halo 3 and Reach. Too bad we got conflicting art styles when ruin the core themes.
@@alexanderrobins7497 Yeah I hate all the stuff in those games and if you disable the fantasy armor it also removes the raven and GRD stuff that is actually cool.
They're so incompetent they can't even fix the bugs. Microsoft should hire modders for MCC, they would actually work and fix passionately all the problems and would be dirt cheap
The Halo2 design document by David candland sheds some idea on how they wanted customization to go. So many options and ideas they could never do sadly
One of the making of Halo 2 documentaries has some internal mulltiplayer footage of elite players in Arbiter armor. For years I was convinced there was some way to unlock it, but I suspect that during development they just used the Arbiter model as a place holder for testing elites for some reason.
I honestly feel like the reason why we didn’t get customization in H2 for Elites is because the Spartans didn’t have anything…. And I think they didn’t want the Elites to outshine them and also fans would get made
Reminds me on the original Halo 2 Limited Edition disc there's a random concept art (or indev screencap forgot which) of an Honor Guard but the base armor is blue rather than red.
The perfect "lip" tracking at the end is honestly the most cursed thing I've seen all year, and I've seen some shit. But man, do I love the Elite's big hats. It's like the silly zealous religiosity of wh40k cranked up to Side 3 and I love it.
I so wish they could’ve added these to MCC Halo 2, these and Arbiters, the Heretics, and Rangers, would’ve been so awesome. Same for Halo 2 Anniversary. I know it would’ve been probably taken some work for some, but any of these would’ve been awesome.
Awesome video. I love the elites in halo 2. Ill never forget being a kid and gasping on Cairo station when the ranger elites were flying with jetpacks. I thought it was the coolest thing. Just because there was simply no games like halo 1+2 at the time.
Reason why i love the battle that takes place in the mausoleum of the arbiter on the mission Gravemind. Seeing that last elite counselor walk through in its many permutations is such a site to behold.
Back in Project Cartographer days I used to armor mod random multiplayer lobbies. Anyone playing as an elite would get a randomized set of armor from the campaign upon every new spawn. The South American Halo Community were super welcoming to me.
Back during the Halo CE multiplayer days, by buddies and I didn't know it was called the Counselor Elite. We always called them Silver Elites, which I think are much cooler.
I have genuinely wanted an honour guard armour set in every game since they first showed up. I feel genuinely robbed that its never been or going to be included :(
It wouldve been so cool if the elites had designated skins. Like a high charity map, the elites would have the councilor skin. Or a map on the Halos in some temple you would be honor guard vs spartans etc
mannn i miss Halo Reach customization lol it was so simple, but felt rewarding to unlock. Still remember the grunt bday party and pestilence lol good ole days
Imagine H2C getting an H3 esc customization overhaul. Elites have tons of stuff already. Spartans could have gotten the H2 ODST, the CE MK V and the Mac World Armor (Renamed to Orion of course).
Love how this dude said "limited to spartans and elites" when up until april of this year, halo 2 was the only one that had both playable elites and Spartans. All the other halos were LIMITED to only playable Spartans
You know I just want to take a second to point out and appreciate just how original the design of Elites are. It’s no secret Sci Fi universes love to draw inspiration from each other just as much as fantasy does. But the Elite design is just so unique. Sure they have certain aspects of things but never fully. For example they are like predator aliens with their mandibles. But unlike predators Elites Jaws are entirely split. 4 entirely independent mandibles. Their heads are similar in shape to xenomorphs but they are only similar in the basic silhouette. A xenomorphs head extends backwards like a long crown. For elites that’s just their neck because they have long necks, but if they stood up straight, which they do sometimes, that xenomorph silhouette is gone lol but apart from that they are completely unique. Their hands and feet are very unique. They have 2 long middle fingers and 2 long thumbs on either side. Their 2 large Hoofed like toes that they tippy toe on lol I can’t think of any other alien with hands and feet like that lol
The funniest part is that an error would make the last élites on high charity misión to be randomized, You could get an elite with council helmet but royal guard armor, or a white royal guard with red helmet
I'm shocked that 343 hasn't added playable elites to the newer games. Missing out on the opportunity to sell "play as an honor guard or a councilor" is so unlike them.
