This game is a true porting disaster, from the installer to mod support. This game should be avoided at all costs, and Halo 1 is far better on the PC. This game has so many bugs, if I talked about them all, it'd be hours long.
i played through halo 2 pc on my laptop. i played it with community patches and such and never really understood how bad it was in its orignal release. thank you for making this video. i now understand why it was such a terrible port. thankfully now you can make it work and run very well with fixes to remove the gfwl and bugs and such.

One of the cases I can agree with you gligar, this port of Halo 2 was utter trash compared to how well the port of the original one was. Another thing that really blows about this port is that it is utterly broken on recent drivers for NVIDIA cards causing texture flickering.
@@theobserver4214 That’s false, Vista removes a lot of post processing and other visual effects that make the game look worse than on the original Xbox
It's not near as bad as you make it sound. However it had atrocious optimization. My GT 610 is terrible, but it should easily be able to run this at 1920x1080 highest settings (maybe excluding anti aliasing) at 55-60FPS.
Halo 1 was/is a very great PC port! Btw wasn't the graphics were more darker on orginal xbox compared to the PC's brighter and vibrant graphics? Maybe its just me.
The main thing I liked about h2v is that the animations ran at 60fps at least. The one problem with Halo CE in that department was the animations were "jerky" like with Bioshock once you unlocked the framerate.

They're fun & Solider of Fortune is another good one & those other Miltary FPS simulators from the early 2000's were pretty decent! Haven't played them in awhile so most of them I'll have to check a few out again.

Love This Game on Pc... Originally,I had it on Xbox,but Play it regularly on pc..Never had a problem with it.Even mod it with sweetfx to make it prettier...I'm using an i5 with a nvidia gtx750 and I can play it at max settings with a few sweetfx mods enabled,quite comfortably...I can even alt tab in and out of it to desktop,in order to tweak settings,it doesn't crash and I can play on with the new settings......You're giving the game less credit than it deserves,
and the community isn't dead, you just have to know where to look. H2Launcher helps iron out a bunch of bugs, and has people playing, compared to main servers.
Can somebody tell me why the fuck if a game has Games For Windows Live it is automatically shitty, that is the most biased thing I ever heard, I am not calling GFWL good I think it is shit but Judging a game based on GFWL is like saying Germany is a shitty country because Hitler was dictator once before.
I still have a Halo 2 vista copy, but I already activated it once on Windows 7. When my father made a new pc, it had Windows 10 and I don’t know the f*ck how I get my original Halo 2 Vista back. Is there really no way to deactivate it???
MS made H2V a selling point for ppl to upgrade from XP. updated graphics like H2A's is what could have made the 2007 port a success, even if it was just moderate.

The specs that he “flexed” were from 2013, not even a full year between this video being released and the actual graphics card being released. These specs were not considered bland in 2014, they were considered upper range. Today they’re considered mid range. Don’t try to tell me to think before I publish a statement when you can’t even dish out factual information or have even a slight understanding of the field you’re trying to talk about
GTA IV doesn't require Vista/7/8 for the sole purpose of marketing, GTA IV got patched more than H2V did, GTA IV had better mod support, and GTA IV didn't make the mod community go back to GTA SA like H2V did with Halo Custom Edition. As for worst port ever lately? CoD Ghosts.
Play on whatever platform you prefer and consoles do have some pros, not that they are immune from games that launch in a shit state like Halo: MCC. I guarantee you Halo: MCC launches on PC in FAR better shape than it did XBONE, and Red Dead 2 is gonna look, and run better on PC than the console version. But saying PC gaming is worse because a ~12 year old port of one game is not good is retarded. I'll take the risk (a very low risk now a days) of a poor PC version for all the benefits on PC. Much higher FPS/performance, WAY faster load times, tons of mods, free multiplayer, better graphics. Ability to get a refund if you want (on Steam, Origin, even Epic Game Store). True, and full backwards compatibility enabling access to a GIGANTIC catalog of games. Really old games might require a fan patch and or tweaks if it dose not just simply work on a modern machine but just a few mins of work and that's it. Letting you play 99 percent of all PC games on a modern system no problem. Plus with mods you can take a old game and give it a massive facelift, improvements etc for free (Thief 1 and 2 fan patches and HD texture packs for example). Plus when the next gen of consoles come out there will be a point where they stop making games for PS4/XBONE meaning you gotta buy a whole new console to keep gaming. I on the other hand will simply upgrade my GPU for ~$400 (My 1080 is almost 4 years old and still great). The last shit PC port I can remember was Batman Arkham Knight. It's fixed now of course and was given away free recently but it's a pretty meh game anyways. No surprise bad ports are rare really since the consoles have become literal mid range gaming PC's (AMD CPU's and AMD GPU's) and that won't be changing next gen or anytime soon. Plus most games are just Unity or Unreal Engine 4 which of course are fully optimized for PC.
