Well I don't think it was the story that could have held back a great boss battle. If Bungie or I mean 343 Industries had tried harder at creating a good boss battle between Master Chief and The Didact. It would have been awesome. Shooters back then used to have awesome boss battles. But it seems like now game designers have gotten lazy at boss bottles for atleast shooters. There should have been something like where that place turned in to some kind of arena and you had to take down certain structures to lower the Didacts body shield and then take out weak points to do damage to his health. Then as you take out his weak points and lower his health his attacks would get more aggressive. Same thing could have been done for the boss battle in Halo 2 and Halo 3.
The final battle was meant to resemble more so that of a cinematic scene. More oft than not, when the battles are done like the latter, they gain that much more semantic value, and value towards the actual story of the game and it's logic.
@@zacharymcreynolds4295 Indeed, if anyone remembers BLINX on the original Xbox or Need For Speed Most Wanted, or even the original Halo's the bosses were always near enough impossible to beat at the end of the game, there were time it take me weeks to months of game time as a kid to try and beat them. But games these days are not the same like this anymore. It is a real shame as so many games with the new consoles and upgrades have got so much opportunity to be better
i can understand why people would be upset with the "final boss battle." Personally, i think it made sense. the final boss was way too overpowered and you can tell by the cut scenes. He would overpower MC with some would power that wouldn't let MC move. How could you possibly expect MC to overpower that? Anyways, i love halo and been playing it since the beginning. To me, Halo 4 is the end for me. Halo 5 didn't do it for me and i felt so out of touch with Halo 5 story. I could go on about Halo 5 but they dropped the ball with that game.
I must disagree entirely. Since at that point it's down to story writers & various other aspects when designing the game that made this scene, to which it could have easily been changed & I feel like the staff are talented enough to have though of a way a boss fight could occur without it boiling down to a QTE. Since Cortana helped out, the boss fight could have been simply her weakening him enough for MC to survive him for a while. They could still end up relying on the bomb to finish him, but with a more satisfying end where the players themselves get to actually face up against the built up boss. Hell half of the ending area even looked like it was designed with a boss fight intent in the first place. This isn't me shitting on you by the way, just that I disagree that they couldn't have thought of a way to have a more satisfying ending to this game.
For certain reasons this is one of my most favorite video games. It was the first video game I played when I moved to university living in student halls. I admit I finished the game in just a week because it was very easy, but watching this brings back great memories of when I started university and first started living on my own.
I could not agree more, watching this brings back some amazing memories for Me. Its the first video game I played when I moved away to university and started living on my own in student accommodation. It was a lovely living room flat on the 5th floor with a view over the city. I admit I completed the game in a week, but watching this brings back memories moving out on my own for the first and where my adult life started really.
People complain that this was a very poor boss battle. But in this instance, I don't think a complex boss fight was needed. Pulling at your anxiety with an intense boss fight only to end with this climax of Cortana sacrificing what was left of her to save Master Chief would've been overkill.
If the game gave you a chance to see the power of the Didact in game, I feel the story would have been a million times more powerful. Here I am thinking that if I had a spartan laser and 5 minutes of alone time with this disappointment of a boss I would kick his ass.
I used to love halo when I was 7 years old back in 2012. That's where brother got Far Cry 3 on the PS3 and I halo mega blocks toys for Christmas. 2012 was the best year ever of the 2010s
Sry accidentally hit enter. Halo 5 is probably Hali's end because they are sticking to xbox with the Xbox one. A dieing game on a dead console....sry halo.
Woah this battle was such a hard and memorable fight, it was so hard to sit on my couch with my dick in my hand staring at Cortana, easily a much harder boss fight than Tartarus who you actually fight btw
actually every halo has had a legendary ending except halo wars, even halo 3 odst had a legendary ending. The legendary ending in halo 4 is that you see part of master chiefs face.
terrible boss fight but I still enjoyed it. Halo 4 had the best campaign in the series but it's multiplayer was not as enjoyable despite several maps I enjoyed. It's a shame Halo 5 has the worst campaign in the series. It's multiplayer is fantastic. Hopefully in Halo 6 they learn from Halo 4's campaign and Halo 5s multiplayer. Halo 4 also had the best story in the series.
