@@teneesh3376 There are some issues that can't be fixed via mods alone. For example, when you take sheild damage on the original CE version the chunk of shield loss lights up before it's subtracted. Last I heard, modders working on the Xbox restoration project for Gearbox Halo PC said it was not possible to fix. *my point is, 343 will have to fix it because they have exclusive access to the source files.
@@maxmax9050 true, but the main issues can be fixed by modders. I know what you're getting at, but do you think 343 would bother? I used to have hope for them. Until the gameplay for halo infinite came out, and they said that the sidekick and the bulldog are replacing the magnum and shotgun respectively. That was the nail in the coffin for me on 343
Martin, you and your guys did a fantastic job with the audio for the Halo games. The soundtrack is by far the best I've heard in a video game. Hat off to you!
I was surprised the released CE right now since they have have problems mcc wide, especially Reach, and now they have to patch halo CE but halo reach should be fixed first, but their just going to delay patches and do big ones that mess up more things . And especially all the different platforms, different versions of mcc people are playing as well, I feel like their gonna have a failure in something big if they don’t clean up their coding . Their basically making a game since they can’t work with what they have now.
@SonnieSlim1 The issue isn't when they are and aren't developing Infinite. The issue is that they basically have to release MCC on PC (with ALL the games) before Infinite comes out, otherwise PC players will be missing key parts of the story. They can't just pull a Kingdom Hearts and release Infinite on a platform Halo hasn't been on since 07 (IE Kingdom Hearts III on Xbox One). Thus, they kinda have to rush the games out, overlooking all kinds of bugs and glitches and whatnot.
Let’s pray for more time being spent on bug fixes 🙌 halo is too good to have STEAM releases being overshadowed by bugs, glitches and missing QOL features. Let the devs have more time!!
Tell that to the absolutely RABID 343 fanboys in the official discord who are defending the port to their last breath, blaming every problem on "well that was obviously in legacy, you just don't remember it", and forcibly muting you when you try to prove otherwise.
@@aggressivelythicctrap2455 Legacy issues I completely understand but for the sake of a good PC port, some things must be addressed such as the animations beyond 30 fps
To be fair to 343, with the way they were straight up saying Reach may not release in 2019 *IN THE SAME WEEK AS ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE DATE* and how they sorta surprise launched CE, I'm pretty sure Microsoft forced them to release the games early. Remember this is the company that almost forced bungie to release Halo 2 a full year before it was finished. Don't get me wrong, 343 has made their own mistakes, and Reach probably should have been fixed by now, but I'm gonna be blaming Microsoft for this one. (I doubt Halo's janky engine helped either).
Yeah I thought the same, but I figured microsoft did it as a one off thing to meet christmas sales, but that obviously isnt the case if thats whats happening and they just keep pushing them to release these games.
That’s a fair point, keeping in mind that they’re the same company that put a cease and desist on a fan project; Microsoft is really petty when it comes to Halo.
Microsoft or ... Rather the Xbox Devision changed quite alot tho so its hardly comparable. But very likely that Xbox Dev, want this Collection out before Infinite.
@Uncle Ho ya I would have actually just preferred a picture swap of the original chief, rather than a janky looking animated chief that doesnt even accurately represent what I will look like in game.
It's sad that folks from the console releases are defending the 30 fps cutscenes because "It was like that in the original. Deal with it" Why pc games have to be constrained by console limitations is beyond me. The Chimera mod shows that high frame rate cutscenes are possible and look better than the originals.
I feel like it almost would have made more sense just to patch kb+m support into the xbox version then to go through all the work of making a PC version, that looks practically the same as the xbox one version.
I'm sorry but no, we are not defending that thing you're saying, Halo 2, 3, 4, Reach and ODST also have 60 fps cinematics on console, I don't know who is dumb enough to defend 30 cinematics In a game with all titles being 60 fps. Combat evolved is the only title in the collection with the cinematics locked at 30 fps. We would happily accept 60 fps cinematics in CE.
This honestly scares me a lot for the MCC. It seems someone with more say is forcing out these releases. Hell Reach could have used a few more months before it was pushed out. Especially with a release of Halo 3 on PC. That can't go wrong. That is when all eyes will be on them.
It never even occurred to me that Halo 3 would even release on PC, I have no idea why. You're right tho, as soon as H2A is out, it's gonna be a waiting game to see just how much effort they really out into Halo's *halo* game (pun intended and very deliberate)

@@JacobBite it doesn't do that in the original pc port. Don't talk about stuff you don't have a clue. And even if it did, it would still be unacceptable, not 'nothing special'.
I know this wasn't the point of the video but I'm glad you commented on Halo Anniversary's skyboxes. They are by far some of, if not THE best, skyboxes in the entire series. You could just stare at them forever.
@@HardCorePoration I am of two minds about that one. On one hand I feel like the dull glow from the sky sort of casts a gloomy-yet-beautiful atmosphere on the level and complements the story events at that point in the game. On the other hand I agree that the original darkness was much more fitting. Perhaps this just stems from the fact that Two Betrayals is my favourite mission in CE, so I'm okay with either one.
The only way they can repair Reach's audio is by completely recreating the original samples. They're working on it, but its going to take a *lot* of time. I'd rather have the game now, which some slightly janky but okay audio, than have to wait another year for something to sound a little bit prettier.
@@RevanAckre I wouldn't. I would have been happier having to wait another year to have bugs and kinks ironed out. They dropped the ball on this, big time. 2 reasons why: 1. They PROMISED that all the bugs identified in the flight would be fixed by launch, especially the audio. 2. Buying the product in its current state communicates to Microsoft, and 343 really, that we are tolerant and accepting of launch conditions. We absolutely should not be supporting this. Microsoft/343 are not running out of money anytime soon. Bite the damn bullet and wait until the product is in a much more stable state as was originally intended. Then by all means buy it. This was 343's last chance to really prove to the Halo fans that they honestly cared, I would think that if MS pushed them to release early, 343 would have kindly reminded them how crucial this is. I don't think that happened at all.
@@RevanAckre That's complete nonsense. Even just recording the original game's audio with good equipment and then inserting it into the PC version would be far better than the shitty job they have done right now. Stop defending shitty devs when they do shitty jobs.
I'm really disappointed in the scheduling of updates for these games. If we have to wait until a new game is ported to include major updates like audio fixes for Reach then I won't even play. I had some major audio issues for Reach's campaign and multiplayer, stuttering and delayed audio. Most of it is fixed for the cutscenes but Long Night of Solace and forge multiplayer maps for some reason still have this issue. Speaking of forge, STILL NO FORGE OR THEATER! C'mon!
it definitely has at least some effect when I use it. Their turn rate (mouse sensitivity) is lowered and I'm pretty sure their movement speed is slowed too.
As a Tarkov player, I always focus on center screen so a lowered reticle really messes me up on pc. Especially if I gotta flick the sniper or something

Its not fair that they rush jobbed CE Anniversary and now I gotta: A:Have more space taken up on my Xbox, B: wait for the really freakin long updates, and C: have my game ruined. the HALO discord in general is cancer, overly strict, you get banned for not being good at english, having a certain name with special characteristics or talking over mods, not to mention how power trip cutthroats certain mods can be, submitting an innocent claim will net you an "ok boomer" response from an admin gg, also its supposed to be family friendly when halo's foundation was built on having thicker skin, atleast back in the day
343 still are proving that they still don't know how to make games. How do modders fix most of these problems but a huge company with many hundreds of employees and many months of trial and error not fix the same bugs that a team of a couple dudes in their free time can?

When Halo Reach came out with very similar issues to CE almost no one talked about the issues. At least now people are starting to speak up about how broken these games are. 343 is showing off these games to NEW players coming from PC. First impressions matter.
No, the issues were talked about all the time for reach its just everyone was told they were working on it. At this point tho most fo the PC community has given up and are waiting for future titles myself included, reach is just a shitshow and trying to communicate what's wrong only to be told that its no issue or they are working on it has tried my patience too thin. Beautiful port report. Thank you. It's really discouraging to submit bug reports with footage, images, and concise observations, only to see every single one of them in the release build, some to even announce their presence in the first few minutes of gameplay.
If I was a genius bedroom developer this is how I would fix CEA: -in-game settings for every little rendering option and relevant post-processor/shader -realtime VRAM budget displayed like in doom eternal -textures optimized for 4k -refresh rate optimized for 160hz, 1 ms -all animation rates optimized for 144 fps -support for raytracing -support for path-tracing -support for megatextures -support for pseudo-RTX shaders like SSR, reflective bump-mapping, and true MXAO -real-time audio equalizer with saved custom presets -FOV up to 200 -in-game model FOV customizable per weapon like with CE OpenSauce -presets to change color scheme and size of HUD, including reticle -a button that directly opens up the "maps" and "content" folder for quick, accessible modding -a button that displays performance option in-game Then keep it optimized to mostly use VRAM with priorities on textures, shadows, and maybe shaders so you can run the game on moderately high settings with only 4 Gb VRAM and 2.8 Ghz core
I believe they changed the pickup to hold to help regulate whether you want to reload or to pick up a weapon. However I to prefer the old tap function but it had its issues. All in all the hold function is a little more casual friendly as opposed to competitive. As for the audio problems they are unacceptable. The glitches break the immersion. With the rush to release it the overlooked major problems, a trend I noticed as of recent. But I still find halo fun and support it to the fullest. My hopes are high but my patience dry.
Luke441 the biggest issue with the control change is that this was not consensual. There is NO way for me to go back to the old system that I preferred
@@LateNightHalo this is true and I believe that they should be able to switch back to it if they so choose. The impact of to the gameplay would be minimal if they could do so. Plus it would just be better for the people to choose their preferred method

343i is supposed to be porting all of the MCC games while recoding the entire MCC framework and porting it to UWP *AND* Steam and also making Halo Infinite, it's ridiculous and i'm not surprised there's issues, Microsoft should have an entire full size studio handling MCC

Will Davis Damn dude chill. Just take a minute to get the Dorito cheese out of your neckbeard. Only problem I’ve had with CE was the plasma pistol audio bug
@@Hirotoro4692 first I barely ever use the plasma pistol, never liked it (if I use it, it s only to drain the shield of an elite so no need to rapid fire) No, I Haven t had weapons stuck in walls rattling around. As for audio loops, I don't care nor listen to them enough to notice it, it s just background noise to set a mood. I just played the game to reminince about the first time I played halo years ago. So quite frankly I wouldn't even care had I come across these bugs. Btw chill out, u sound like someone so obsessed with irrelevant details that they miss out on signals of their partner cheating on them.
The issue with the audio concerning noise levels can be fixed if you set you headphones to stereo mode, the game wasn't designed for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound audio, so if it is set to either one of those it does not play and balance the audio correctly.
I've always noticed on every version of the game that the opening cutscene for 343 Guilty Spark plays at a low frame rate. The way the fleeing grunts and jackals move is so jittering. My computer says it's 60 FPS, but it looks more like 15.
And that's why you wait for a game to be completed before buying it. Btw, halo reach still has issues and the leveling system sucks now... I mean, I'm disappointed. I can just hope mods are gonna fix everything... hopefully...
Most of the problems you point out were either already in the Gearbox port or the 360 port. Classic aiming, overcharge pistol sounds, other sound bugs, music queues, all from that. I feel that these issues should be addressed and fixed, let's just make sure we're not overly critical. *343i's main focus is Infinite* , and let's hope they keep it that way.
Thank you for making this video, I thought I was the only one. The music was so off, entire songs mixed together in the ending, and a different sort of plasma pistol bug occurred to me. Personally, as a PC gamer who never had a console, I don't like MCC at all, and I wish I could just get the original games, without 343 messing with what Bungie did great. I'll stick to the Gearbox version which was my childhood, and hope that my favorite game of all time (Halo 2), and Halo Infinite, won't suffer the same fate.
@@jackmcphee2341 Well when you do not understand what a port is or how technology has advanced in both software and hardware, and you expect things to be as good or better than before after considering those things, then yes you're being pretty pathetic. The fact you get to access this at all is more than you deserve. No one had to spend time on porting old remasters to new PCs and you never had to play these new ports of old games. I'd rather get a slightly buggy copy I can play while it gets fixed over time, than not being able to play while they hold it back to polish things. If you could have waited an extra month or two, you still can wait an extra month or two...but you get to play it while you're waiting. This is just a video for clicks and to whine.
the fact that the netcode is good is clouding the fact that these ports aren't necessarily complete. everyone is so focused on the fact that it runs well that they arnt complaining too hard about the other bugs
I don't know about Xbox One, but on cursed randy edition, the instant weapon switching was due to the hold timer being tied to framerate. the higher the framerate, the shorter the timer to the point of it being instant. So from gearbox to MCC, it's a bug fix. Also that grid pattern is the result of VERY terrible ambient occlusion. I've heard it's tied to resolution so at 1080p it looks ugly. Regrettably I can't test that since I don't have a 4k monitor and can't switch resolutions. The 30fps cut scene animations were on MCC as well, but was less noticeable due to it only being double the framerate instead of 4 times the framerate. Though if you're going to have 30fps cutscenes, that's fine; just lock the camera to 30fps as well.
Something that i noticed on the Xbox version of CE mp is that the pistol has way less magnetism than before the update. It makes it almost as inaccurrate as the PC pistol with unlocked framerate
I recently played through Halo 1's campaign using Chimera and the Halo Restoration project mods. After running a few Chimera commands to customize the fov, enable proper widescreen support, unlock the cutscene frame rate, and enable autaim for my Xbox controller, I had the definitive PC vanilla Halo experience. It's a shame that 343 didn't provide that same definitive experience in a more convenient package.
I played Halo PC and Custom Edition for years, I don't recall ever seeing a "tap to pick up" option? It was always "Hold 'E' to swap for..." I could be misremembering things, though, and if I am I'd be glad to see where I'm wrong.
This is most definitely Microsoft fault, they just don't want to spent any more time and resources on an old game. They're just focus on the next titles and next xbox. Like always, modders will always pick up the slack. The one thing that I expected is Halo CE and Halo 2 to have better optimization options since those games had PC versions made, unlike Reach, H3, Odst, and H4. Console to PC port games tend to be very shitty since the were made on limited hardware, if it was the other way around, it would've been easier to tampered with. Here's an article that PCgamer had about the *Unlocked framerates in old ports* from the developers. www.pcgamer.com/uk/halos-developers-explain-what-can-go-wrong-with-unlocked-framerates-in-old-game-ports/
man you were lucky...the plasma pistol audio bug was much worse for me...after firing in rapid succession, you hear that hum that goes on for the entire level. Also, I would argue that they didn't need more time, they needed to manage their time better. It took them so long to release the damn game on PC in the first place, then there was a 4 ish month gap in between reach and CE. When MCC was announced for steam, I immediately put it on my wish list. It must have been on there for 2 + years. They weren't making new animations or anything, they were just turning a console game into a PC game. So, did they need more time? Arguably no. They just needed to manage their time better.
The things you said about audio presentation was very correct I noticed it very much, in some places the music kind of stopped. The shields were a very big problem,I didn't even notice it go down hell it's a nightmare while playing in legendary
@@LateNightHalo At that point why not just make a completely new port from the original Xbox build, instead of diluting it through ported ports of a port. Idk, just seems like poor decisions and management to me
The hold to pick up weapons makes sense, because the default controls have reload and pickup on the same button, so it would be impossible to reload your gun if you were near a weapon on the ground
The worst part about the tap weapon pickup thing getting removed, they left it on vehicles so u still cant reload while in the side seat of the warthog (u jump out instead). So not only did they nerf 1 function for no good reason, but that nerf would have actually fixed a seperate issue that they still ignore 6 years after release.
I knew there was some weird jittering going on during the cutscenes, turns out it was the discrepancy of the framerates. Also, I'm disappointed they switched the sniper zoom behavior without allowing you to switch to the original pc port method. I preferred it that way instead of having to double click
My biggest issue right now is the complete lack of Server Browser. ARE YOU KIDDING ME 343?! In the past, they said they were building MCC on PC with PC-first features to make it feel at home on the PC platform Yet here we are, Halo Reach and Halo CE has released and still no server browser. PC DOES NOT WANT MATCHMAKING. That's fine and all on consoles but PC Demands a Server Browser.

I remember having the same problem with the actual HALO CE for PC! It was actually a sync problem because game was running really fast on modern hardware couldn't enable Vsync for 1000fps because of latency. But going to the NVIDIA Control Panel and enabling Fast Sync Solved this. Right now we can limit FPS in many ways , so maybe try that.
I only needed to play the game for a half hour and get the first level achievement to know that the game would be buggy, and low and behold, completing the Pillar of Autumn achieves the Truth and Reconciliation achievement. Practically non of the level completion achievements are correct alongside their campaign score and level completion speedrun achievements, and several Terminal and Skull achievements never popped either, despite 343's Halo website having it unlocked. Oh yeah, and the day of its release unlocked Halo 3: ODST achievements for killing Engineers from Halo Reach.

Another big thing, if you are using an older version of windows the game glitches so badly you can’t pickup weapons or enter vehicles (The bind won’t work) . You also can’t scope without it glitching out. As a windows 7 user, I am unable to play the game until they patch it. Highly disappointing.
Personally I'd love an option to disable the aim control. I often encounter situations where I've lined up a shot but enemies(especially flying ones) move in near the cursor and it tracks them for a few degrees, just enough to throw off the shot. Its surprising just how few options there are in the options menu compared to most other games I've played.
@@MrChromed That's... not how that works. The truth is that LNG likes the lowered crosshairs, and the later games were designed with them in mind, but CE was not. You are wrong dude its like 95% complete there are no game breaking /experience ruining bugs at all there's a handful of small issues that you would only notice if you know to look for them or are that hardcore. You guys are extremely blowing this out of the water. To top it off the majority of bugs are from the gearbox port people think that shits easy to fix its not. There's a reason modders could never even fix it all. Any developer would tell you you can't hold a game back for some small imperfections or you'd never launch the game. CE's launch was smoother than Reach's and like i said the majority of these bugs are from Gearbox. CE was the most bugged game because of gearbox so I guarantee you the rest of ports will launch smooth like they are on console.
