try to pronounce it as "HAH-LO-HAH-LO" Instead of "Haylo-Haylo" because sometimes the locals get confused.

halo-halo has dual meaning in filipino. one is "mix-mix" and the other is "varieties". thats why the proper way of eating halo-halo is to mix it well or mix the varieties of ingredients well before eating :)
@chiken8801

Filipino bbq are always so good! That “ketchupy marinade” is based on banana ketchup (Filipino ketchup). The drink you ordered with sago (boba) and gulaman (jelly) is mainly arnibal (sugar syrup) with pandan leaves (or vanilla grass, which is a common herb in the Philippines) that turned into a dessert type of beverage. Also, the term “halo-halo” is “mix-mix” in English, which is why to enjoy it better, you must mix everything throughly. Though the term “halo-halo” can also mean a variety pf everything, hence the inclusion of a lot of ingredients. Good thing you still enjoyed it! Btw, keep up the good work! You’re literally one of the best travel vloggers here on RU-vid!

Most Filipinos have English names due to the American colonization. Majority of them also have Spanish surnames because of the Spanish colonization. That is why if you meet someone with English first name (John or Evelyn, for example) and a Spanish surname (dela Cruz or Garcia for example), he or she is probably a Filipino. Also, majority of the Filipinos know how to understand and speak in English because it is a required course in Philippine Education System. It’s just that some just cannot speak fluently, especially those in the lower-income level of socio-economic categories.

Late comment 😁 I just discovered today your vlogs and they are wonderful! Halo halo is the best of our native thirst quencher.. the first thing to do is to dig in the spoon down the bottom slowly then do it again and again till everything starts to mix melt and get squishy but leave that yellow lecheflan caramel so you'll always get the yummy flavor on top... that's how you eat halohalo 😁... and next you already had sago gulaman... then the next maybe if you can find calamansi juice, our native lemonade which is way better than the western lemonade I may say...😆 No offense 🙏🏼.. then check out as well the buko pandan gulaman, the buko juice and melon juice.. these are our islands thirst quenchers! 👍🏼👍🏼

Sago & Gulaman (nibble & drink) originally was a organic drink Sago is "Tapioca", Gulaman is "Seaweed Jelly" it's the same term used for seaweed the word Gulaman those grapes like seaweed and the hair like seaweed you sometimes see and sold in the market.. Halo Halo are mostly organic as well made up of ice shaving, Sago, Gulaman, Cocunut Jelly (nata de coco),palm fruit (Kaong), Mung beans (mungo), jam banana (saba), ube jam (halaya), stripped coconut (buko), leche plan (egg & milk plan), toasted rye (pinipig), jam navy beans (puting patani), makapuno (syrup + jelly like coconut water), jam jack fruit (langka), cane sugar (tubo) and condensed milk (gatas) these mix varies from seller to seller. These brain freeze dessert existed long before the new trends of tapioca milk and ice tea drinks and all it's variation you see everywhere, they meant to cool you down in the hot summer days. 👌👍😎✌.

Dude it's always good to haggle but over such a small amount on something so cheap in a poverty ridden country shows poor taste to tell the truth. You're not a native Filipino struggling to have food for yourself or your family and how do you think you look to them pushing so hard for such a small amount?

Bro, are you guys doing any Makati vlog. Checkout Greenbelt and Ayala park, underpass murals. Rooftop bars to see Manila's Skyline. Unwind hostel is pretty cool. Makati Poblacion nightlife. BTW checkout "Toyo eatery" Filipino small plates and it's bakery Toyo panaderya. Also in Makati checkout weekend open market in Salcedo village. Filipino carinderias experience checkout Aling Sosing also in Makati. Crosta pizza (best pizza) in Manila also in Makati, best coffee Antipodean roasters also in Makati. Don't miss out on this while in Manila.

Try Filipino restaurants like Fely J's, Sentro, Mesa in Greenbelt Makati, then the best halo-halo at Razon's, also at Greenbelt.
