Mabuhay! 안녕하세요! Ako si Jinyong!
I’m a Korean who really loves the Philippines 🙂
And that’s the reason why I started to learn TAGALOG!
Though I’m really not good at speaking Tagalog now, I would like to speak really fluently like a native speaker someday!
I made this channel to introduce Filipino culture to all the foreigners including my Korean friends. (and Korean culture to Filipino as well!)
I really hope people know Philippines more and more by watching my videos!
Oh! Please don’t forget to follow my Facebook and Instagram!

Thank you always for making nice Tagalog subtitle Norman!

Mabuhay! 안녕하세요!

Actually, Halo Halo (Mix Mix) is a dessert influenced by the Japanese during the WWII. They introduced Kakigori to the Philippines during their occupation. Filipinos find it bland, so they experimented it with different fruits, vegetables, and other sweet stuff and began creating their own version. And then pooof!!! It became Halo Halo...

Haluhalo is believed to have been invented in the 1920s or 1930s at the Quinta Market in Quiapo, Manila as an innovation on the Japanese dessert mitsumame, combining it with ice sourced from the city's then-nearby ice plant. -wiki

It is true and already documented that halo-halo has roots from the Japanese Kakigori.
@kyaobet88
@kyaobet88 5 лет назад
Actually our halo-halo got it's inspiration from kakigori of Japan. During the first half of the 20th c. (1900s) the Japanese migrants to the Philippines introduced kakigori to the Filipinos and our ancestors fell in love with it that 's why they made their own version of it using the native ingredients that can be found in the country and that's how halo-halo was born

Halo means mix. So, you mix halo halo before eating - to fuse all the flavor in one bite. Yum! One thing about halo halo is using native fruits, such as jackfruit, and ice cream that has local flavor from fruits and herbs or even coconut milk.

halo means to mix, so people translate halo-halo literally as mix-mix (lol). but halo-halo is called as such because of the variety or "mixed" ingredients, and the fashion in which it is eaten - which is to mix/stir it before eating.

Oppa Jinyong WoW nice to hear that there are many Korean and Japanese expats calling the Philippines their home for Koreans its in Manila Cebu and Baguio in the north,of course Manila being the center of trade commerce and business and most of the sky scrapers are there,and city life is in Manila secondly Cebu for some of the English tutorial schools are concentrated there and an easy gateway to some of the Philippines best beaches for fun and recreation,Baguio on the other hand is the fave retirement city of most Koreans fave for its climate as its temperatures rarely exceeds 25 degrees centigrade in mid day even in Summer and drops to 14 degrees at night with its Korean Autumn to Mid Spring weather all year round because of its high elevation thats why most Koreans love it there and also Korean Schools and Night Markets can be found there just like in Seoul Week end Market,and theres a little Korean City there just google it,with all the Korean influences,the Hallyus,the short distance proximity of the Philippines to your Motherland and the low cost of living,the peace and order with the current govt its safe to say you can walk at night now at peace not like before but still always be pre-cautious,the Philippines is starting to bloom with its economy on the right tract its no wonder your fellow Koreans like it there....Good Luck to you and to all your endeavors and Happy 10 k followers to you.may you be an inspiration to others making your platform of social media to spread positivity,love and wisdom....See You in the Philippines...See you in your next post and Mabuhay!Annyeong!

Jinyoung, halo halo is not only has 3 to 4 ingredients. It's actually more than 7 ingredients. The mixes are banana, jackfruit, garbanzos, nata de coco, black beans, white beans, ube, there is one more kind of beans like that made from coconut meat (I forgot the name of it) but anyway leche flan only puts as a toppings if we are talking about the original and standard Halo Halo. It isn't suppose to taste like coconut but a mixed of those ingredients with the taste of evap milk and sugar. I used to drop by at Aristocrat Restaurant in Roxas blvd. whenever I visited Manila. Even their barbecues there are suitable for Korean buds. Japanese loves it. If you really want to taste authentic cuisine go explore the south and east of Luzon and you will amazed how our food somehow the same. Goodluck and have fun exploring
