Halo Infinite's microtransactions are getting to be a serious problem. 

So overall I do think the store is a serious problem which will hurt the game in the long term. The campaign is fantastic and the multiplayer is too, but stuff like this will seriously spoil the population is not addressed soon. Please also be constructive with your points.

on a consumer stand point i really dislike the "it's free to play" what many are saying. because i paid 60€ for the campaign and paid 10€ for the battle pass, meaning that i paid more than in previous titles but still got less stuff

You’re right they need to make money but they don’t need $1,000-$2,000 from each player in the world for each season……… you’re not seeing the bigger picture. $20-$30 for an armor set is insane. All this money that you’re saying is why 343 needs it’s all extra money because no the multiplayer price is in the campaign price just like always do all the people buying the campaign will pay for the multiplayer. This is just bonuses for the team. So yeah make profit, but no they don’t need to milk the fans for their entire paychecks

I think they’d do better selling this shit if they made things a whole lot cheaper and easier to get. I’m not sure a lot of us are going to budge og’s and won’t dump so much money on this, thus killing the longevity of the game. Customization is fun but I’m not gonna pay $1000 of dollars to have fun on a halo game that as of yet has not surpassed the classic games which I already own and can play whenever I want

If I’m not mistaken that blue armour coating for the yoroi is exactly the same as the cadet blue that you get for free for the other cores right down to the orange lights on the armour, and it’s a gold visor not a helmet you get which is worse. It’s so horrible the prices they are asking for things that ultimately aren’t worth that value

My take on free to play is they took a game, decided to split it into 2, charge full price for the campaign then call the multiplayer free to play. I feel that the multiplayer shouldn't be free to play, part of the full game and has progression like the older titles. Being free to play just seems like an excuse to then charge more on what should have been part of the full game. In respect to Warzone, I also played a lot of it, but the rest of the games multiplayer was still part of the paid base game. I just don't like the it's free to play argument. I feel a way of them still having microtransactions but having all armour attainable would have been to be like Reach. You unlock armour the more you play then buy them with credits, you can also purchase credits to help buy more armour. Make it so there's a bit of a challenge to unlock everything but you don't earn enough credits whilst doing so to buy everything. Some people would happily purchase extra credits to buy their armour, some would probably buy complete amour sets without doing the grind to unlock them the free way. .

I have to disagree with you on the pricing for stuff, you should not be able to only buy stuff through real money, there should be credits earnable in game, im fine with them allowing you to buy the stuff with real money aswell but not solely real money. Hoenstly though id rather them jsut do what I thouhgt they would do which is have all of the seasons content in the battle pass, so if you buy the battle pass you can unlock everything. the fact I can't have Emiles shoulders or Carters seperately without buying them with real money is insane.

10 Things I wish 343 would change. 1. No buyable battlepass tiers, 343 can keep buyable xp boosts and challenge swaps as a middle ground. 2. Universal armor cores. One added per premium battlepass purchase to players armor hall. This may not be technically possible due to clipping/ programming difficulties. 3. Shop pricing cut in half. 4. A separate in-game shop currency earned through battlepass rewards/ challenges. Make it grindy and inconvenient but still a good option for free players. 5. Zero FOMO, shop items and free events rotate and return eventually. Weekly ultimate items are added to a endlessly growing shop list, if players didn't have the time to earn via challenges, they would then only have the option to get the item (with only buyable) currency. 6. Per match participation xp added to the 50 per match xp. 100 per match xp if it's a win. Note: Playing the objective is just as good or better than kills for participation xp earned in an objective mode. 7. Separate Spartan rank/ level system with free rewards or in-game currency for leveling up. 8. Better battlepass rewards for free players. 9. Legacy modes added with time; with matchmaking like MCC added in a future patch. 10. Every single simple color from past Halo's added for free in a future patch to every player. Note: Every armor coating would be a single basic solid color with no finish/ detail.

I want them to change a lot and I know it’s not going to happen, im content with that. But what would be nice if we had specific Armor and colors you could only unlock by playing the game. That was one of the best feeling in Halo 3 and Reach. Wearing something you worked for. I don’t mind having armors in the shop but give the grinders something special too.

I’d pay decent money for multiplayer map packs like back in the day 🤷‍♂️ and for good quality story DLC. Hell I’d even pay for some armor, but I definitely feel like there should be more that I can unlock just by playing. Or by hitting certain achievements. As far as what can be done for customization, cross-core compatibility is an absolute necessity. Coatings are a problem now, and they're going to be a much bigger problem in 5 years when it costs $200 to apply the color blue to every armor core, and there are 10 different blue coatings for each core. Color customization should be default, maybe per armor piece, and coatings should apply textures, camos, etc. Less of a suggestion and more of a daydream-if they just charged, idk, $20 for the multiplayer and gave it a system like Reach, the sheer amount of content would keep people coming back for ages, and then you could monetize things like weapon and vehicle skins, weapon charms, sprays, or other things that aren't core to Halo's customization to pad out the 10 year model. Nobody asked for Halo to go f2p, because f2p titles bring f2p monetization, and f2p monetization is not compatible with the sort of expectations people have of a Halo title. Someone somewhere pushed for Infinite to go f2p so they could charge *one-third the price of Halo Reach* for a single armor set, because psychologists and market analysts found that system the most profitable, regardless of what effect that has on the integrity of the game's systems.

I'd rather go back to pay for the game and dlc and have the customisation free. And just because it is gone, doesn't mean it shouldn't come back. People need to stop supporting bad business practices.

Hey, what if they make all the armors available to people who bought the campaign? That way people who only want to play multiplayer can have the option to pay a reduced price for armors or just buy the campaign. 60$ can then amount to both campaign and multiplayer. What do you think?

Whats not cool is 15$ USD for blue 🤦🏾‍♂️. And they need to remove the ability to pay your way through the battle pass. They need to add 100xp per match and performance based XP. Lastly most if not all the pricing in the store needs to go from $10 - $20 to $3 or $5

It’s very simple. No matter what, MS & 343i are going to make their money off THIS game for those WILLING to pay for shiny✨ shit that doesn’t affect gameplay mechanics. For everyone else not phased by it, the MP is free_ It is a WIN/WIN.

The first thing that i would do is to tie only the legendary coating for cores, the rest should be compatible to all cores. The visors should be shared too, except for legendary types. The base Mark V with 3 helms for free should do the trick too. Bonus XP for medals along with some credits would be really satisfying. And for God sake, the Mark VII helm at Lv 90+ at the battle pass is AWFUL!!!

I was SO upset when I purchased that beautiful purple visor color on the first day and I found out that I couldn't use it on the MARK VI! I love collecting all of the sets, but I will go into debt, more so than my student loans, before I get them all. But I would LOVE it if they reduced the amount for everything in the store. I would DEFINITELY purchase things more often that way. Hopefully they're able to get with the higher ups and reduce the amount soon. I'm loving this game and I want it to be the best that it can be, but this isn't the way.

I just want them to get rid of the bundles. I'm not paying $20/£16 for an armour set that only has 2/8 things that I actually want in it. Weapon/vehicle coating bundles make sense but not random armour pieces or armour coatings. I would be more inclined to pay for individual armour pieces/armour coatings so I can get exactly what I want.

Is there any word on how this is handled for people who bought the game? I would be fine with it (apart from the pricing, which is just plain ridiculous), if the items are free for people who own the game. But if you bought the game and still are required to buy this bullshit, that would be just insane. The way I see it, if you own the game, no microtransaction should be required, if you play F2P, all the content combined should not be a much more expensive than the game itself. I agree on cross core color, but not armor pieces. I say that because then just get rid of cores. If you mean they would have different textures, like the Mk. IV looks more damaged unlike the MK. VII that's all lot of work and retexturing. As a studying game artist that's asking a lot. I like the cores being unique personally. I think you also added 343's response. I do agree about lowering prices and gaining xp and credits.

I gave up on COD and moved to Halo (this is my 1st Halo game). The reason was simple, a free MP allowed me to try Halo. So far I am OK with this game (if I compared to the shit show of Cold War and Vanguard).

This is part of the problem with today’s video game market. Let me start by saying I am in no way trying to hate on you, but this ideology is why games suck now. Yes it is free to play and they do need to make money, BUT most people rather pay 60$ for the game and get everything in the game for free by grinding. Instead of the game being free, and there being over 1000$ worth of stuff behind a pay wall. The only reason they make games free to play is because they know they can bleed more money out of the player base that way, and it’s kind of a slap in the face to long time fans of the franchise. Not to mention the fact they said EVERYTHING would be unlockable by ONLY playing the game, which is at this point is obviously a blatant lie by 343. That’s the problem people have, because everyone understands at the end of the day they need to make money.

I remember when unlocking Hayabusa armor in Halo 3 or finally getting Mark6 classic Chief helmet in Reach after rank brigadier people would know you worked hard to obtain it. It made things special, it made the armors special, made the player feel special. Now all of that is gone. In Halo Infinite we are gonna have 12yr olds running around in the best armor because they are spending their parents money, means no respect given & makes the armors lose their individualness. Same 12yr old in hayabusa armor in Halo 3 or chief helmet in Reach, that 12yr old, hes a badass, I respect him, he earned it!

First of all there is no reason we need to worry about 343 making enough money to continue putting out games or content, this is already the most expensive game ever made and has a 10 year roadmap planned, so I don’t think us shelling out our cash is going to change anything with 343s performance, they’ll be an incompetent developer no matter how much money they have at their disposal. Second, when you say they need to incentivize us to grind more, they literally said this game was designed to NOT be a grind, which was a complete lie, nobody wants to grind Halo, we just want to chill and have fun. I think halo 5 had a great system, they should just do that but without lootboxes. Honestly it was a great model, I didn’t spend a penny and unlocked stuff, other people spent money and unlocked more stuff. Whoever they hired for their micro transaction position needs to be fired, dude did an awful job. I went to school for business and one of the studies we did was a bar who did $1 drafts and $3 shots. The drafts had a profit of 40 cents and the slots had a profit of $1.50. We asked people which they'd rather sell. Most people picked the shots. In reality, the drafts sell so much it makes more money and leads to other sales. I used this same study to train GMs of big box retail stores that just because it's costs more doesn't mean it's the right thing to still. It sounds like business 101 but so many people get this concept wrong. You're absolutely on the right track. I look at the bundle prices currently as "this is what it would cost to buy everything individually" but there's no "savings" to buy the bundle. I bought the battle pass to at least give it a shot. But that will probably be the only money they get for me. I want one thing out of the shop, but the bundle is too expensive for me to even consider the purchase. If I could buy just one piece of it, then I'd do it.

Cores should be specific to a characters look or a specific curated look. I think kits are stupid and unnecessary. All armor should be accessible on one spartan. Emblems should be a singular unlock not 4 throughout the battle pass, it's just filler and lazy imo. Coatings should be on every armor set as you said. I think if you're going to take away the ability to pick specific colors you shouldn't lock coatings to one armor core. Implement tech suits because I feel like that's the reason we even have armor cores to begin with (I mean all I see when changing armor cores is the tech suits changing..) and that's just a start. They have done so many things right with this game.... they can't just let it fall apart because of easy fixes. I've had no issue with the store. I don't care that it's there. But the BP lacking in content is upsetting. Challenge swaps aren't a reward they are a mechanic created because of the insane challenges in the game. I don't think this all falls on 343 but they definitely dropped the ball on quite a bit here. Maybe there was pushback but Microsoft said no and now they are realizing that they fucked up in not listening but who knows. I have hope that they will make some great changes soon enough but we can't just sit by. And they can't just ignore us or the game will die.

I don't like that they lied about most armors/cosmetics will be earned through playing the game and playing it only. Next time, they should be honest to their loyal fanbase. They could fix it by idk, not doing the opposite of what they said they were gonna do. I don't mind some things being paid for but the fact you get a dinky little kitchen knife from the final tier of the tenrai event but there's a way better version of it in the store for $15 is a joke. Doesn't even look like I'll be able to make my samurai red unless I buy the bundle it's associated with which could be $25+. Just for the color red.

It’s free to play but I didn’t decide that, they did. Why should players be punished for their stupid decisions? They knew making it free would allow them to make even more money then if they sold it for a base price. Saying it’s free to play isn’t a valid excuse when the company made that decision, they could have sold it for 60 dollars and gave us a reach system. That’s like complaining that you hate your job when you’re the one who decided to take the job.

Literally all that needs to be done is cross-compatible armor pieces / coatings and make bundles 5 to $10 max. Because right now they have all these individual pieces and they have a decent amount of armor customization options but such a limited amount of configurations.

The Battle pass isn't a good deal. But not too bad. You pay 1/6 the cost of a full game, for 100 pieces of cosmetics. 100 pieces is nothing. When you divide all the options up.

I agree that this is a business and they need to be able to do business things. As a consumer and a halo fan. Not easy by any means. I live on disability retirement SSI. This amount of money is all I get to live on and that's it. Wish I had better ways to live. Not going to happen with my right foot. From be screws and 2 steel plates in my rite foot reconstruction surgery plus bone chip dime sized in my rite ankle caralegde. Hurts to move or walk around. The gout doesn't help either. This lack of money availability is the best I can do. Just for me to get the full campaign game I had to make a deal with a credit card that isn't mine on my Xbox one. Now tell me what else can I do. I want 343 to be well to do. But I'm not well to do. I'm stuck in this and have no choice but to live like this.

I don't think it's healthy to keep people incentives to grind beyond just the core gameplay and fun of the game. It can lead to unhealthy spending habits and lifestyle. This is a Teen game, for ages 13 and up so i feel it could lead to more controversy and put Xbox and Microsoft in hot water if they are rewarding 13 year olds with in game credits (money) that they can only spend in their Halo store. I also only have a few hours ot play in a week and don't want Halo to be a second job.

Being free to play was the very worst mistake that 343 could have made, now they're just cash hungry pigs and it kills me to say that because I absolutely love halo infinite but the fact that you can't unlock a helmet until tier 80 or 81 without buying premium is BS we want our freedom back when it comes to grinding for armor and customizing our character , I have an absolute blast playing this game even as bare bones as it is but if they don't change that then they will lose a lot of players within the first 6 months free or not

Well at least I'll be able to play only the online beta. Wake my computer is in that powerful. It's really unlikely I'm going to play Halo infinite. Because I'm still on an Xbox 360

The biggest issue with infinite is the fact it’s free to play. Because then they just point to it as an excuse for extremely predatory and player-unfriendly practices. Worst part is between that and them calling it a beta, people will happily eat it up and regurgitate these as excuses when they’re not. We deserve halo, what halo is meant to be, especially for customisation. Not hot garbage hidden behind a f2p excuse.

Pretty sure the gray color is SUPPOSED to be Noble Six, since it's called Redacted Records or something. But like... it's gray guys.

If 343 wants to lock armor behind the store, there needs to be a way to earn in game credits through game play. That, or they need to allow more armor to be unlocked through the battle pass. I can't keep playing for 100s of hours and only unlock 2 shaders and a helmet

also what would be nice is if the battle pass and event pass wouldn't be padded out with 3 times the same emblem and 5 times the same weapon coating just for diffrent weapons, that's just honestly lazy, better would be if we unlock one emblem we can use it how we like and that we have to unlock the weapon coating just once and get it for diffrent weapons, of course it also would be nice if we could use the armor coatings and visor colors on all armor cores aswell. speaking of padding, half the event pass is just xp booster and challenge swaps, it would be better if both event and battle pass would have less of those to paddings because that's just really cheap of 343

The battlepass needs better rewards, there needs to be a SR system so I can accurately show how much I have played the game. That is the most important thing to me tbh. And the store prices need to be a lot cheaper. I really want anubis helmet, but I don’t want to pay 20$ for a bundle.

I think that the other problem is that we don't have free unlockables, we just have a couple of those. We should have some for free and that are good looking. Also, coatings should be usable on all armors, not just a couple

I understand that the game is f2p and there are always gonna be microtransactions, and I don't mind supporting the game but my main issues are :- the battle pass progression is far too slow and it being completely dependent on challenges is ruining teamwork and objective based game modes because people care more about completing challenges instead of winning the game and the other is that items in the cosmetic shop are far too expensive, I understand that they need to make money but 10 dollars for a single skin is a lot to ask for

yet again another person under the misconception that mtx somehow contributes to the development of the game. it doesent and never has. not a single cent of mtx revenue gets into the pockets of the games developers or goes towards future development, it all goes toward the publisher as a means of incentivizing future investment in the company. A way for the publisher to go "look see, we generate endless revenue. you should buy into our company." when a game gets slated for development, a publisher sets aside the funds right from the start that would be needed to fund development as well as to pay the staff. Rarely do publisher underestimate the amount of funds needed, and in these rare examples almost always the excess cost is paid back upon launch. likewise when it comes to post launch support and expansions, the funds are slated a year to 2 years in advance, with a detailed roadmap of what expansions the developers want to make and how much they will cost. A trend you will notice with trippleA games is they will have a "season pass" or some other expansion Pre-purchase plan, those are where the funds for expansions comes from, not the mtx and not lootboxes. One other misconception i see people talk about is "oh such and such game cost 100 mil to make", No it dident. not a single game released in the last decade cost 100 plus million in development costs, 90% of that money went into marketing and promotions. even the most high end of games cost a couple million to develop, usually in the 5-10 mill range if that. the reason publisher spend so much on games marketing is because they will make it all back and then some on launch, most games makeing a billion plus in thir first week.

343 needs to give us more battlepass xp and armor in bundles also i dont like there greed cause the forced me to buy a weapon skin for 50 bucks which is expensive i hope the campaign will be at least a blast

for me is mindblowing that i bought the battlepass and i don't get any in game store credits back, if they expect me to dump 10$ every new season to buy the new battlepass every time i'm not down for it tbh

Tbh- id happily pay and pick up a few paid armours if they were priced fair. Mabye they are priced so high out the gate as they are planning sales Swapable colour skins should apply for the premium paid items from the store

The game is smart enough to correctly apply Chestplates from Cores onto a different core. In game doesn't let you, but the App does.

I don’t see the point in having to pay for different colors when every other halo game always let armor customization be for the player. I understand that multiplayer is free and they need to make money from it but restricting so much customization behind battle passes and not being able to new pieces of armor, skins, etc etc now is gonna do more harm than good

Last time I checked in warframe you can either buy things or play game for them it's up to you so there is no excuse for 343 not do the same that would be fair give me a choice to play and grind for thing or to buy them if I don't have that much time to spend on game and there are a lot of people that simply can't play for x amount of time and grind

I stopped spending money on skins in every game I play now. I want a system where we have plenty of skins to unlock for free and a battle pass

343 and Microsoft may be corporations and there to make money but they're there to make a product also and that product should be good and not predatory.

Or you could just play the game and unlock stuff regularly instead of purchasing any microtransactions

I'd rather have a full 60$ game with things actually able to be unlocked over a free game that costs 60$ to get three armor sets.

I just stopped playing the game it doesn't have true BTB, no free for all and no infection. Never bought the battlepass because thats not Halo.

at 4:20 you said that the system for cross core compatibility is not in place but i heard in a video of someone else once that the bots you play against do in indeed mix and match their parts, which means it is theoretically possible but we are not allowed to use it
