Interesting. So basically you're saying it's better to play 2 games with similar mechanics but offers different innovative ways to play to weigh the pros and cons of your preferences, rather than paying money for 2 games that are essentially the same aside from the name.
Honestly, battlefield would become good after they fix all the bugs and add new maps, like they did in BF4. But no way in hell is COD becoming playable again
Dunkey missed a critical point about Splitgate: not only is there a Gamemode for Teabagging, but also in every Gamemode your teabags are tracked and you can get a Goldmedal for teabagging Edit: Since so many people seem to like that feature, furthermore ingame you are actively encouraged to shit talk. The tips in the loading screen read something along the lines "Press Enter to shit talk your enemies"
One of the tips in the loading screen actually encourages you to teabag people. “If you see a dead body, you should go over to it and crouch repeatedly. Press B to crouch.”
The portal fps combo is pretty neat. Lots of gun fights that would play out almost identical in most shooters now have completely different strats. Someone hiding behind a barrier, put a portal behind them and shoot em in the back, put a portal at your feet and just dive bomb em, or put a portal at their feet and send em flying to you.
@@WilltheramLP its mostly the opposite. the maps were made with portals in mind, if you practice w the portals in the range and in the maps everything just starts to click
@Tyler Ro nah that shit is op, you can hook onto wasp and banshees and swipe weapons before someone grabs them or use it with the energy sword and gravity hammer
Yeah, the thing Splitgate suffered from at its release was next to zero marketting. I bought it in like late 2019 before it was free-to-play and remember how low the player population was. Feels good to see it doing so well now.
@@UTLF Lol, took them 11 years to make a game where the gameplay actually feels like Halo... good job 343! Oh, and let's not forget about the dogshit microtransactions and trash tier progression system that they've tried to hide behind decent gameplay. Lol, 343 is still a dogshit company.
@@rockyharmon2468 Who cares? Like games don't take inspiration from each other all the time. Doesn't change the fact that the guns, booster pack, and portal mechanics, make for a super fun and unique experience.
Halo Combat Evolved in 2001 was the a big innovator for multiplayer FPS gaming, it is so awesome to see Halo back on top with Splitgate's innovative gameplay modes building off of Halo's systems. This is a healthy AAA to Indie game ratio.
No it wasn't. It was innovative for consoles. In the PC space it really didn't do anything new. It started the regenerating health trend though. Other games had vehicles before it too like Tribes way earlier than Halo. It was a good game and completely revolutionized FPSes... on consoles.
as amazing as the Grappleshot is, every time i use it to build up crazy momentum it just makes me think about Titanfall 2 and i end up getting sad about the devs dropping that. again, fantastic item, but the hidden stat of self-inflicting depression damage is a doozy
I can confidently say, with two decades of halo under my belt, that 343 finally made a really good halo. I accidently played for 14 hours straight when it dropped and it felt like I was 10 again.
@@Xishnik94 yes, that is exactly how video games work, forget that it runs at over 100 FPS on pc and runs just fine on my base Xbox one, and that it’s only like 20 GB while COD takes like 100 GB for less. Infinite is extremely fun and optimized, stop hating to hate, halo 3 was a masterpiece and very hard to match true, but infinite is also very good. Also adding an ellipsis doesn’t make your point any better...
@@Xishnik94 halo 3 was during the golden age of online gaming and revolutionized FPS. I don’t think anything will have that level of hype ever again in the same ways.
With his videos perfectly balancing between comedy and informative content time and time again, Dunkey really is the best youtuber around. That's why he rightfully belongs in the C tier.
Just like the last entry dunkey has started to show some repetitive elements and really is starting to lose steam. Most of the video is just the same side mission all blending together to artificially increase the videos length. It's truly disappointing to see a video even worse than the last, as far of a dip I'd say we're looking at what might be the end of a franchise. Overall Dunkey has proven a tried and tested technique can still have its charm, even after all these years. *8.5*
Yeah the added mobility and ability to just go to the other side of the map instantly makes it alot more fun. A strategy I used was setting a portal up, running far away and setting another one up and wait for the other team to get to me, go through and close the portal.
"Better go to dunkey's castle, Or you will not be able to acquire the ancient treasure documented left behind in the year 1865 by the zibido people who were actually 1996 because of a deal between abraham lincoln to arnold conferderate general during the tail end of the civil war" I slowed this down to 0.5 speed and I still am not entirely sure if even Dunkey knows exactly what he is saying
Better go to dunkey's castle, Better go to dunkey's castle, Better go to dunkey's castle, Or you will not be able to acquire the ancient treasure dunkey which was left behind in the year 1865 by the zibido people who were (unintelligible) 1996 because of a deal between abraham lincoln to unnamed conferderate general during the tail end of the civil war
I like how Dunkey wanted to show the mongoose kill so bad that he added it to the end without any context whatsoever. Just a quick "Look at this thing I did" and then a clip of him driving himself off a cliff with an enemy as copilot.
The value of a game is obviously the enjoyment divided by the price. Therefore with some basic, simple math, we can determine that Halo Infinite is some fun divided by zero, which equals an infinite amount of value, hence the name.
A better rendition is simply, Infinite has 0 as a price, but infinite value because the limit of a very small number on a very large number goes towards 0, hence giving infinite a very large number of value (+infinity).
Custom games, infinite grapple hooks, big ass open maps, nothing but rocket launchers. Or for more thematic you could also go all swords for just... I don't even know.
@@lebronjames1472 Verticality ruins so much level design. When they added jump packs to Halo, it was dead. Halo CE/2/3 were all about getting high ground and controlling power timers.
Don't really think the vehicles can be considered a MAJOR innovation. Warzone literally has them all over the place. Splitgates portals aren't entirely unique either, but its the first fps game I have seen to use them. Not saying one is better than the other, but I disagree with vehicles being majorly innovative.
@@1234567895182 think he meant back when halo was new it was innovative. Also I’m pretty sure warzone only really has vehicles for convenience but I rarely play it so idk
Watching the Splitgate clips, I sat thinking "that was so cool!" But while watching the Halo clips, I literally snorted laughing so hard & another time choked on my coffee! So... Halo wins the funny round.
Not gonna lie though, I'm really glad Dunkey was being fair when comparing Split Gate and Halo Infinite. Both are great games, and as much as I hate to say it, are indeed better than Far Cry 6
Splitgate looks like an amazing game. Came out in 2019 and I'm just hearing about it. Looked around a bit for some videos and definitely seems amazing. Installing it right now to give it a shot because it sure seems like it deserves it, especially so because it's free. Thanks for bringing this game some attention.
Splitgate makes me very sad because back in 2019-2020 I was so in love with it but the player base was kinda dead so I gave up on it. Now it blows up and its like my lost love that I don't know if I could go back to, anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk
@@____Michael_____ I'm a newbie, played the game for about 30-45 mins yesterday and it was a lot of fun. Just pick it up again and you can drop it if you don't like it after all.
so far 3 mfers have killed me after getting in my mongoose and warthog, maybe they are zoomers but i remember when people respected the silliest unspoken rules in online games
Yeah, it's a pretty good game. I actually prefer the slightly faster TTK in splitgate over Infinite, and Splitgate has amazing optimization. Infinite regularly drops below 60fps for me, but Splitgate never drops below 120fps and is frequently above 200fps.
@@sorryimnutty9642 But that doesn't account for the poor performance. Infinite is thoroughly a last gen game, and the physics are very rudimentary. I agree there's more going on than in Splitgate, but not enough to justify the poor performance many people experience.
I had a match where an enemy got the warthog. I went to jack it but instead, I got on the gunner seat. What did the driver do in response? Took me to a cliff at the edge of the map. There we sat for the rest of the game. One of my teammates came around and saw us, and got sniped. We sat there for about 12 minutes.
@@fungi265 I only thought about that as I was righting the comment, then I forgot about it. I knew it was in H5 but it totally skipped my mind, because I was getting used to the new controls. Man there are so many new interesting things about this game, maybe they should have a Tutor- Oh, wait.
the thing that pushes splitgate over the edge is the funny factor of acquiring a portal kill- tricking someone into running into a portal that leads to a death pit. i've gotten two and they're the best moments in any game ever imo
@@gomaplayzyt3603 that is pretty fun, after playing around 20 hours of both I'm going stick with infinite, no fancy reason why I just have more fun on it
Lyrics (in case anyone wants to sing along) Better go to Dunkey’s castle, Better go to Dunkey’s castle, Better go to Dunkey’s castle, Or you will not be able to acquire the ancient treasure Dunkey which was left behind in the year 1865 by the Zubido people who were extradited to the United States because of a deal between Abraham Lincoln and an unnamed confederate general during the tail end of the Civil War ...WOOO!
Fluppy: "This game belongs on shitstain island" I think thats the most positive thing i've heard fluppy say about ANY video game actually. High praise coming from him.
This is one of Dunkey’s all-time funniest videos, and it’s about two games I couldn’t care less about. The exhibition of Halo’s superior community at 3:28 kills me EVERY watch
I was a huge advocate for Splitgate when I first tried it, and it's a great game, don't wanna be that "has to choose one over the other" kinda guy but tbh since playing Infinite I don't know if I'll be going back to Splitgate. I just like almost everything about Infinite better, and I was pretty trash at portalling too. Still I wish the best for the Splitgate community and hope the game has a long and healthy life cycle. 1047 Games are really cool developers and hope they see the success they deserve.
@@lintlickers Ah yes, we all value the opinion of a salty Splitgate fan who uses derisive language like "kiddo" to try and make himself seem bigger and better, over a well thought out and friendly comment by someone who seems neutral. TL;DR: your mom, kiddo
Oh my God thank you so much for giving Splitgate a shout out. I fucking love that game and any boost it gets to its community is positive in my opinion. It had to make a Faustian bargain with tiktok to stay alive, but this might just revitalize it again.
@@cornpop2630 I just started split gate and halo infinite. I can honestly say split gate is much easier than halo but that doesn't mean it's bad. if I had to choose which one to permanently play I would have to go with halo. It just look more polished and if I'm gonna sink money into cosmetics...well halos just looks better
I don't know, neither games indirectly reference the hit TV show Family Matters, specifically the character Urkel, so I'm not really sold Edit: I was mistaken
the audio design in Halo is beautiful. a good sound engineer can make or break a game. take battlefield for example; it sounds like it was recorded in a soup can.
