Halo Infinites pricing problem...

My continuous disappointment with this game just doesn’t cease. I’ve been playing since launch and trying to keep up with up but once they dropped seasonality, I just couldn’t keep going. It basically just told me “We’re setting the sun on this game. We’re gonna do a few more things but that’s it.” This game genuinely had potential that I saw when season 5 was around. I thought if they kept it up that Halo Infinite could maybe bounce back. But nah. The network overhaul still having issues and the anti cheat being horrendous just makes it all sad. They can’t even do the little they’re trying to do for the game. Besides selling us armor bundles that could’ve EASILY been battle passes. But nah. As soon as season 5 ended, the actual game content dropped to hardly anything and the monetization is one of the most aggressive and disgusting I’ve seen in recent memory. Sucks.

My biggest issue is this new system feels like a slap in the face to all the people who supported this game through its worst points. The lack of any sandbox additions from weapons to vehicles is just killing the game for me. Regardless of how much new cosmetics or how much of them are free or even just more fairly priced, I'm not gonna feel any less like I'm just doing the same thing I've been since season 3. Adding nothing but new maps and cosmetics isnt enough to keep the experience interesting enough. I didn't even bother finishing cyber showdown 3, nor have I gone past tier 2 of yappening 2 or bought any bundles since seasons were confirmed to be dropped. I just wish we could get a straight answer on wether or not the game will even be getting any worthwhile updates to encourage me to keep playing or even spending another penny on bundles. Its deflating

I didn't start playing until Season 5 so I'm really looking forward to the Exchange system.

One thing I think 343/Microsoft needs to be praised for is the ability to purchase any pass at any time. Battlepasses by default have an element of fomo in them, and frankly the decision to just have them be always available is player centric and needs to be an industry standard. That along with trial runs for bundles. If you don't like what you bought, you can return it. Maybe then they'd actually put some effort into the shlop that they feed us.

Imo the one thing that will improve it for me is actually being able to purchase items individually. Conqueror is a cool bundle but not for that price. If I could buy the helmet for like 200 credits, I will snag that instantly.

Void Ultra coating is 2000 creds. WHY THE FUCK DOES IT COST $20 TO PAINT MY ARMOR WHITE!!! Seriously, they should do something like Star Wars Battlefront where you earn credits based on your performance in games - something like getting 10 credits for every 250 points. This would work for everyone - having the credit to score be low would encourage people to keep playing, but they could also still buy credits if grinding would take too long. But seriously! The only reason I stick around is because of forge. Which, I will remind everyone, arrived late. And it still has some issues with magnets, but whatever.

I would have been fine with paying 12 to 15 dollars for the pass and then only get 1000 credits back. If they had to. Also More items need to depreciate in value. Maybe more sales. Maybe earning like 50 credits along with the the ultimate reward would be fair IMO unlock the weekl emblem or coating or whatever, we also get 50 cred. Thanks for this video BTW.

There's actually a lot of things still vaulted.There are some weapon Coatings that I would like to purchase but I can't because they're vaulted

Praetorian Zephyr weapon coating bundle released for 800cr and came with 8 weapon coatings, one for each weapon before the bandit rifle was added. That's 100cr per coating. Great deal. When they added the ability to buy the weapon coatings individually, they started selling it for 400cr instead of 100cr. Thats like a 300% increase for absolutely no reason. I hate it so much

I haven't been this worried about the direction the game's headed in since the Season 2 drought.

I wanna see a actual graph showing howmany players buy micro transactions in general, i dont persnally know a single person that has boughy anything from the store, and thats over 15 people that play the game daily

I think they should just put credits in the operation passes. Free credits, maybe like 200 or 300. Enough to make purchasing the pass more reasonable and or allow us to save up credits to buy armor at a more fair price.

The complete lack of a means of earning credits over time via gameplay kills the shop more than prices do. Players dedicating large amounts of their time into the game deserve to be rewarded with enough credits to get a couple of bundles per Operation. Not nearly everything, but so they can pick a few rewards to purchase without opening the wallet. I find players are more likely to spend money here and there when they don't feel like they are forced to.

This is why I spend a week every couple months fuckin around in reach. Less to install, more to unlock and do.

I still play the game for the weekly reward but I’m not super into it unfortunately. Sometimes the game really slaps and I feel it, but it’s really starting to get sorta stale with only a couple new maps or gametypes being added. It just feels like the game’s been dying slowly since they claimed the game feature complete. I’m a little frustrated because it felt like they had so much potential, like season 2 was rough but they kept claiming a good payoff, so I was optimistic. It feels like they never fully hit stride or gave a completely satisfying payoff despite their constant promises.

I've been buying here and there throughout the seasons, but this is the first season where I haven't seen anything of "value" to me. Not getting the bang for my buck anymore.

Like i agree with you to an extent but this is the result of it being a free to play game. Honestly Halo Infinite offers way more free stuff than just about any other live service game out there (1 free armor set every month or so plus free rewards every week for the weekly) and none of it is pay to win like what's happening with cod rn with the Kong fist. Yeah the prices in Infinite suck but it's all cosmetics so really it doesn't matter and if that's the tradeoff for making the game free and more accessible to everyone im good with that. Thats just my opinion at least.

It's come to the point that when looking at all of these recent bundles could have been 100 level battlepass tiers.

Prices aside … halo infinite has the most bang for your buck out of any FTP game … from one bundle you could make a bunch of Spartans … any other game just gives you a skin you can’t tweak at all…

more ultimate rewards would be nice, i can likely complete all the challanges in 2-3 hours and have nothing else to do for the week, struggling to grind old battlepassess i missed

I think 60% of the armor sets in the store shoulda been battle passes. For every ten they make, 6 should be in battle passes: id prefer 8 outta 10

Let's face it, the best looking items are premium items, not event items or rewards, etc. So having an Exchange system for these items is not much to look forward to, especially since it's likely none of these items will transfer to the next Halo game. Microtransactions in a live service game don't make much sense if that service only lasts a few years. Might as well save your money for Halo 7. Gonna have to buy all your armor all over again.

Mag, as someone with the ability to buy anything in the store every week i actually agree. They are offering less and charging more. It feels like the team mostly left to deal with the new game and are serving us the dregs.

Micro-transactions more like macro-transctions. I would never pay 20 -34 quid for something I can't even see in the game, isn't a whole game, or isn't a physical product. Ppl can't justify paying this shit. And they seriously need their bank account monitoring and restricted.

It’s such a shame really, cuz halo infinite has the best and most customisation of any previous halo game, but most of it is locked behind a paywall. It’s understandable that 343 need to make money but I feel like they’d probably make more money if they lowered the prices of a lot of bundles and made them a realistic price so that people don’t need to put a hole the size of the Grand Canyon inside their wallet

Weapon skins that you do not have do not appear for you to click on and go straight to the store like I didn’t purchase the halo wars, sniper skin bundle, and it doesn’t show up when I go to customization for my sniper so I have no way of going back to that bundle if I decided I want to buy it now.

yeah idk why it appears no one is upset with microsoft and solely blames 343 the prices wouldn't have gone down early on if it weren't for 343 negotiating with Microsoft and it's not like if Microsoft tells them to raise the prices they can't exactly say no outright not saying 343 is blameless but goodgod people need to understand that it's not just 343 and they don't get the final say

I think what the last livestream said about the exchange system was it would span old event and ultimate rewards, unreleased content, and some of the launch promo coatings. That ought to freshen up the customization system nicely. Plus, one thing I don't think they get enough credit for is that they have held some of the better looking coatings back from the store to use for free promos and Twitch drops. Perhaps some of the ones it seems crazy they kept unreleased are being saved for the exchange too.

Bundle maximum should be 1,500 and stand alone items should be sold 100 credits... the pricings in the store are ridiculous 🙄

I have 2 store improvements that I think would actually increase player satisfaction whilst increasing store profits: 1) Unlock all previous operations across all seasons (e.g. Tenrai events) for 500 credits each. I imagine this would be pretty minimal effort as the content is already there. 2) Build your own bundle. As a compromise to buying items individually, allow us to choose what items are in the bundle we purchase. E.g. imagine that in each store you could for 2000 credits select any current helmet, skin, and weapon model. Argualy 2000 credits is pretty expensive for only 3 items, but if I could choose exactly what I wanted I might just be willing to pay the premium.

11:47 "We should have seen the signs back then." I did! I said that Season 5 felt like Winter Update 2! That the battle pass came across to me as Halloween event and reach left-overs. Especially with the lack of cores and Firefight coming mid-season. I said that 343 abandoned seasonality and no one believed me! I even noticed that they retroactively named the Winter Update as an operation in the switcher menu. I also felt like prices were trending back toward launch since Season 4. I don't want to be the "I told you so" guy, but so many people tried to justify what 343 was doing and it felt like I was the only one reading the room. Here we are. As for the banished weapon models, they are all matching down to the name. They should have been their own themed bundle. Instead of an armor bundle, it could have been a model bundle. But if you want matching models you have to buy so many more bundles. It sucks. To add insult to injury, 343 said they would be transparent with their communication. And they frequently lied and got harassed. I don't want to justify harassment, but they made many mistakes trying to communicate to the fans during Seasons 1 and 2. Even when we got what we wanted they always fell short of our already low expectations (remember when we expected a consistent roadmap?) it got to the point where new seasons were only revealed the 2 weeks before release while other games had a month to build hype. Every other time they went silent. They shuttered their own forums because it all became negativity threads, and right now their discord is turning into that too. 343 gave bad news (and sometimes lied to the community to our faces) and literally got harassed into never telling us anything. Heck, if this was any other game we'd get news on what the next 3 months will look like by now because we just hit the last month of this quarter. Yet nothing, which is par for the course. Overall this transition of focus from content to store feels like players are getting squeezed before Infinite is just dropped. So, let me read the room again just like I did before. Remember when the MCC team tried to make spartan points purchasable? And after the backlash they backed off, but they shortly after stopped all talk of the game until the mod update and then radio silence again while the cross-play co-op campaigns, and multitudes of visual glitches they planned on working never saw additional support? We're at that stage with Infinite now. They are trying to extract what money they can before moving on.

Question is whether Philip Spencer will let this sweet, sweet free to play money go in the next one. I'm going to say probably not. Will they lower prices for a while like season 2 when everyone quit? Maybe. But I find it unlikely the store is going anywhere. Especially after one single armor set shot the videogame to #25 best selling on steam or whatever by itself. And that was after RU-vidrs bitching about prices for 2 years. That's the best part.

Well, of course things aren't going to change with updates Microsoft or 343 or a little bit of both are just 2 damn greedy. This is why I wish some other company not connected with Microsoft owned Halo. Then maybe hopefully we wouldn't have This problem with the prices in the store

The content isn’t the issue, for the most part. It’s the management of said content. Battle passes should be brought back. We should also get all past event passes. I would be ok with those old ones costing some credits, but nothing too pricey

Halo's Problem 343

I’m sure you understand that your criticisms on the storefront lose a lot of credibility due to your insistence on supporting it in any capacity. It’s hard to take you seriously when you drop loads of dough on the game then turn around and do a surprised pikachu face at the prices.

A full skin should never be over $3.00-$5.00. they are just a image nothing more. A full functional game cost $60.00-$70.00 that takes years to make but a skin that takes a week or two cost $15.00-$30.00??? There are no excuses for a company to sell things at such a high price. 343 can't even make a great game and expect people to pay beyond premium prices. What makes everything more funny is 343 raised the prices because they weren't making enough money but in reality when you raise prices people will stop buying but if you lower prices more people will buy stuff and 343 would make more money.

Fix it? its not broken, they meant to do the shop the way it is.

We seem to be getting a new set of free armour each month, which I'm not complaining about. It works out about the same as the battlpass every 3.5 months. So I don't think the lack of battlpass is the reason for extra armour in the store. Still, the prices are out of control now.

The fact people still believe that the game has "free" cosmetics, is laughable. If they are time-gated they are not free, you paid for them with the most valuable resource you have: Time. If they were free, truly, they would still be in the game and earnable through some kind of progression system. Infinite has none of that, the Hero rank "reward" is a scam. A lack luster reward for a stupid long and pointless grind. In Reach you earned all sorts of goodies on your way to the top. What do you get in Infinite? More lifeless emblems or whatever. Individual items should be 200 credits, armor sets(helmet, shoulders and chest or knees, gloves, wrist and utility) 500, full armor bundles(every customizable slot except for armor effects and emblems) 1000, bundles for vehicle customization(which seriously needs more slots, just a coating and model, really? No emblems don't count) 200, bundles that include weapon models should include a coating 300. I probably missed options but this prices are fair and ideal, so not at all realistic. They are supposed to be MICRO transactions, they can't have DLC expansion prices.

It’d be ironic if the current cheating and network issues causes a massive exodus and dries up the last of the revenue for infinite. I don’t want the game to die, I want it to improve, but I think 343 has washed their hands of Infinite and are just squeezing it for money.

At the end of the day it's pure greed that has destroyed a fan base of a legendary franchise. Either the fault of 343 or Microsoft, it doesn't really matter and people that buy these for their streams or RU-vid views are just as much to blame. If no one buys them then they would have to review their entire process, but that's never going to happen because of fomo or desperate viewing numbers What's funny is people that moan about the shop, still buy stuff from the shop... So clearly if money is coming in as a big company I wouldn't care about a few people crying on Reddit

Hi. The real problem about Halo Infinite is that from a casual player perspective it becomes so stale after playing it for a week. Two at max with the mediocre forge maps right now. Everyone is telling me that Infintes sandbox is great. Its not. It's so boring. Every weapon has its fun elements cut off. And it barely feels like a halo game with all that unesthetics maps and lack of any Halo atmosphere. Still a completely uninspired game.

The store isn't the biggest problem is the horrible network and servers The store is at the bottom of the issues with this game lol

I liked your opinions on this topic and I pretty much agreed with everything you said but there’s one big issue. You say you want things to change and for prices to decrease drastically which I understand and want as well but you also admitted to spending a lot of money in the shop. Whether it was something you personally wanted or for a video is regardless, you spent money in the shop thus telling 343 and Microsoft that you are ok with their current pricing model. If you want things to change it’s quite simple, don’t buy anything. Don’t buy a single thing and make your opinions known in media like this. Vote with your wallet because that’s the only language they understand. If you want things to change but are still spending money in the shop then you’re a hypocrite and you’re apart of the very problem you’re complaining about
