You know, this makes me wonder what it would be like if 343i were to make a game where you play as a civilian (or at least a cop) trying to survive a Covenant Invasion of a colony world during the Human-Covenant war. It would be like a survival-horror type thing, only replace horror with terror because the Covenant gun you down instead of trying to eat you or lay eggs inside of you like most aliens and monsters in survival horror games. It would be like an action-survival thing or something. It would be a neat idea for a one-shot game if 343 were to ever experiment with that kind of story.

you would probably have the most luck fighting a jackal as they are pretty light for their size due to hollow bones and such. a good kick would probably cave their chest in. grunts on the other hand with an exo skeleton weighing in at 120 kilograms should not be fucked with in close quarters

Ok now we need a civilian based survival halo game with resource and ship management. Imagine game starting with the invasion and you working your way out of the city to get on a small private or large civilian spacecraft like in Arcadia. Stealth can be used as said in this video, hiding in dumpsters to avert brute and jackal patrols.

In my mind, living in a remote location or even a very isolated location would probably be ideal. We mainly see the covenant attacking populated areas like cities but unless your isolated home is near or ontop of a forerunner artifact or something, odds are they will not come to you. Well, unless they 100% glass the planet, then I'd feel safe being on an isolated area of earth

depending on what game/lore you look at, grunts can actually be as tall as the average human (5"9 - 5"11)

In halo lore, we seem to forget that planets are fucking huge. My solution, live in the countryside. Pull a superman and keep a spaceship in your barn. When the cities are getting glassed, you'll be in orbit laughing

There seems alot of potential for halo to have a spin off horror survival game, I like the idea of you being a civilian during the attack on new Mombasa or Voy and having to escape the city using your Whits instead of blasting though waves of covenant like you usually do in halo. You have to hide in the shadows and avoid confrontation with covenant forces and on occasion you could bait them into traps, and find useful tools to aid you in survival. You could also face other desperate humans and potentially bring in RPG elements by using speech to reason with other survivors so that you may work together to survive, I think that would be an interesting spin off

Let’s think about this. So I were to survive at any means necessary against a invading covenant force. And let’s say I knew the knowledge you have told me about the covenant from this video, I would cover myself in so many different smells and scents that a brute or a jackal would be confused as to what they are tracking. Would they think it’s a human or a wild animal? Making myself a anomaly to their keen smell capability. With this being applied every so often of whatever smells I can find, I would eventually cover myself in the waste of a brute or a jackal (as nasty as this sounds this is for survival for my life we’re talking here) this would just major them even more confused. If I needed shelter I would stay as close as possible to the covenant bathroom or garbage disposal area as I could. If I couldn’t get that close to a covenant area I would pick the sewers or the local landfill. I would also carry a revolver with 16 rounds of ammunition( a revolver is easy for convenience) I wouldn’t take this with me on scavenger runs because that would draw to much attention to my location. Hiding from the covenant would be difficult but in the end I know I will probably get caught. So I if I did happen to be caught I would use my bodily fluids as a way to make a quick escape, whatever I could to get away from those monkey and bird hybrid freaks, if they find me the most disgusting creature they have come in contact with that’s good I’ve accomplished my job of survival by being disgusting untouchable. And if I were able to survive and live past this terrible terrible event I would write a manifesto on how to survive the covenant.

My question is did the average citizen have access to firearms? I mean to be honest civilian firearms are many of times better than their military counterparts ex. Government issue M16A4 to a custom civilian AR15. I think in times like this arming the civilian population will greatly increase survivability or at least give them a fighting chance. Also before anybody says regular civilians dont have the training to be effective you would be surprised by how well a civilian can shoot and many gun-toting families have veterans who can teach and employ guerrilla tactics. Shiddddd even chemical weapons would be effective against them since they have heightened sense. I would mace the fuck out of a brute if possible

I feel like the halo universe would set up survivors, and future humanity in general, to be more hateful towards aliens than the inquisition in Warhammer 40k, to the level where post-covenant/promethean/created war humanity immediately obliterates any non-human planets, no questions asked, and starts avoiding the use of AI and non-human technology.

Im curious to a side halo story like halo 3 odst did it playing as a odst. We know the military point of views in aspect of the halo universe. Imagine a game thats in the halo universe but as a civilian who’s world gets invade by the covenant. That would be badass to play as a civilian trying to sneak around through rubble of a city you once lived and and find ways to assassinate grunts and take there weapons for protection eventually running into the ilegal milita in the halo universe and joining them and playing along with the militia. Would be an interesting pov and could easily be made into a good story.

How to survive as a civilian: Be either Gordon Freeman or Isaac Clarke. Yes, I know they are from different series, but my point stands. Those guys survive horrible alien outbreaks and invasions all the time, and with no military or police training at all (at least in Gordon's case. I'm not entirely sure about Isaac, though).

If Earth was glassed, even just a t the locations that were mentioned as covenant targets, there weould be no space area on earth. The climate would radically change, the sun would be blocked out, and the Earth would go through an extreme Ice Age.

Actually.. There is a foolproof strategy for survival. I know that MasterChief can carry only two weapons and 8 grenades.. I'm just going to volunteer to carry grenades and an extra weapon for him and follow him around. This would of course allow me to quickly volunteer and gain access to becoming a spartan.. Maybe the 4th iteration.. An would be a great achievement for humanity when I start setting and breaking records for the fastest run from glassing beam or shortest time run during invasion escape.

i thought of a funny story a man is trying to hid from the covanet of the planet endiuse 2 ( john-117s birth world) and puts on some brute amour hoping that and elite patorle just sees him as a small brute and it works but little did he know that the elite in charge knew what he was but was int in the mood to deal with it so he told the man to go patrol the human helipad which had a small spacecraft parked on it so in the end he survives by dumb luck

Running into Jackals is the best hope you have probably. Comparatively, they are about as strong as a human, poor depth perception without their distinctive helmets. In addition, they are natural merchants, and if you can get them talking, many dislike the Covenant and would be willing to let you go or make a trade for supplies if you hold the upper hand.

I believe that I would survive. I have fired actual ballistic firearms before, I'm a pretty good shot. I live in Massachusetts, and I don't believe there was a Covenant assault there.

I'm the type that's not gonna want to go out without a fight, so I'd probably be killed trying to take one with me. Unfortunately it would not be a quick or painless death and I would most likely suffer a great deal.
