Halo Macworld 1999: First Halo Announcement & Trailer 

How different the world would be if this game came out on an Apple system.

It would have been an honor to look back and say "I was at that conference" for those who were there.

This song was created by Marty, 3 days before this unveiling, He actually wrote most of it in his car stuck in a traffic jam on his way to work, amazing.

The people that watched this when it was revealed were probably like "Whoa, these graphics are incredible". Little did they know that this new game from such a little company would become one of the most important video games in video game history. Without Halo there would be no Xbox 360 or Xbox One. Without Halo consoles would have never succeeded like they have. I look forward to Halo: The Master Chief Collection and I will always look forward to any future Halo titles. Halo is truly a masterpiece. Thank you 343 Industries for keeping it alive.

This would seem like a better idea than a FPS because an RTS where you could explore the entire halo ring without any thing limiting you seemed like a better idea. If Microsoft had not bought Bungie, this would go according to plan, as announced and shown in the trailer.

Came here time traveling after watching Halo - Trailer - E3 2002 - Xbox

I was at this MacWorld. The teams from Halo were so excited. Glad that Steve Jobs was promoting the game. MS didnt get involved until they smelt success. Game Dev is tough work, you need money at the beginning of the project, it wasnt MS money or backing. Halo made the xbox (for me).

Fun fact, at least for those who havent seen Bungie's "A Brave New World" video- if you listen real closely as Jason Jones goes to open up the Halo reveal on the Mac, you can actually hear him take a deep breath before pressing play. This was because of a single bug that could have happened that would have absolutely ruined the whole thing. Pretty interesting how that was left up to luck.

@KilltrocityStudios1 This was made before any Halo games got released, so it was before Bungie had any relationship with Microsoft. Halo was developed for Apple first, then Microsoft bought them and its been an exclusive ever since

the start of the greatest computer game series of all time...

Thirteen years later, it is an Xbox exclusive and is made by 343 Industries, a company that I never heard of until Halo 4.

It's PS2-like graphics for 1999. That, in my book, is excellent.

@snipers512 Torrent it, took me about 2-3 hours to download but it was worth it, great game. I played it on a Powerbook G4 Mac OSX 10.5.8, I think Bungie still sells the game on its' website for $50, but for a decade-old game that's ridiculous.

@AJpoopmonster Nope. I'm reading on Dorkly that some tie after this preveiw the game went through a redesign and thus came the Mark V helmet. Also, watch the first few seasons of RvB. The game definitely looks different than this.

i think that on march the 31st bungie studios should send 343 the original halo builds, and they should release them, for anyone who has Halo PC (like halo custom edition) (if you wonder why march the 31st, its because that is when all of halo rights and properties officialy goes to 343 industries. @Hasuris yes i know all of those games but halo was the one that changed graphics for the other fps games aftr that like call of duty.yes those games were awesome but i hate how u r hating on the consoles.i have tried the pc and it is way 2 complicated and the dont even get me started on the sensitivity.i play all of my games on the xbox 360 and its great.but pc players r always complaining about how all of the good games r not on pc well i tell them to go buy a console cuz not many ppl play pc

so many ironies halo was meant for the mac, then it gets released for xbox only (not including Spartan assault, 2 and combat evolved) Jason Jones, who brags about the mac's rendering then says concerning their new game, Destiny, "We did a bunch of ambitious things on Halo deliberately to reach out to people," Jones told us.
