Halo Promo for NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS
A funny Halo ad for the nVidia GeForce2 GTS graphics card from E3 2000 in May of 2000 when Halo: Combat Evolved was still in development.
At this point in time, Bungie was still an independent company making Halo: Combat Evolved as a third-person shooter action game to be released for both Mac and Windows. Bungie was then bought the following month by Microsoft to make Halo the launch title for its new Xbox.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the best quality left available.
-Just getting some old stuff up so they can be posted other places.

Soshykin R9 295 X2, R9 290X, R9 290, R9 285, R9 280X, R9 280, R9 270X and basically every other AMD GPU in existence. Just because one Nvidia card is known for overheating or whatever, doesn't mean that every Nvidia GPU should then be known for overheating. Basically every AMD GPU ever realised has been inefficient and prone to overheating

by the time halo made it to PC the Geforce FX 5000 series had been released. I played it on a Geforce FX5200

@Usul573 I suppose I could have specified a bit better, I know that some models of graphics cards have issues with the Decals in the game, explosion effects left on the ground, bullet holes, blood, my computer gets goes to about half speed if there are large amounts of blood and explosions on the ground. I actually played through all of Halo (on PC) without any blood because of it lol.

@Usul573 i think it's just that some of them have issues with Halo, I use a Nvidia 8600GTS (PCI-e) it just has a horrible issue with the decals, you can use launch tweaks to change the DirectX settings, but I haven't really messed with them, most of them reduce graphical quality, or remove entire functions altogether.

no, the most expansive top line at that time was the geforce 2 ultra, gts was just mid range card back then, except they were very expansive due to lack of competition

I had a Geforce 2 GTS in a top of the line PC I bought back in 2000. 22" VX1120 CRT Monitor with a Geforce GTS and a 1ghz AMD processor with 386mb of ram. It was a bad ass computer let me tell ya. I was running games higher than 1080p i was at 2048 × 1536 back in 2000! It lasted me a good while. I remember playing Max Payne and GTA Vice City at 2048 × 1536 and it was awesome. I could max out pretty much any game at fullspeed. I miss that computer :(

I had a Geforce 2 GTS it was an awesome card for the time but it was the only Nvidia card I ever owned. AMD always had the better bang for the buck when I would want to upgrade.

Halo could have been a better game if it continued to be made for the PC and then ported to consoles. Especially if they kept working with nVidia. The series today would have some of the best tech there is in gaming using their Gameworks library. But noooo. Microsoft needs to sell Xbox. You can thank consoles for crippling yet another series. The first game was fucking great for its time.

No way, Halo was made hand to hand with Nvidia and the Directx team that allready worked with bungie to use Halo as a "benchmark" the xbox was the only time in history thata console had graphics years aware the PC... directx9 use the code developed on the Xbox omg, thats why the xbox runs native DX9 games like doom3 or Far Cry... theyren not ports, its the DX9 what is port from Xbox to PC on 2003-2004. Xbox is green because its freaking nvidia color.

I just did a 1.2 PIII,Windows 98se/98+/512mb pc133 ram,20gb ata133,Creative geforce 2 ultra,Diamond Monster Voodoo 2 8mb(soon to be SLI). I play some old dx7 games(duesX,halflife1,NFS games..i just wanted all them old games to play cranked with great graphics so iam using the GF 2Ultra for 2d but when i play quake2 the geforce Kicks ass.I played quake 3 on that card for ever..

I just bought up an old computer and some extra computer hardware for 20 bucks and I found in it an amd Athlon @ 1.4ghz, 384mb ram, a netgear nic, creative soundblaster... and a Leadtek(ch) Winfast Geforce 2 GTS video card... made me just have to watch this video, haha.

Fucking rofl for this video. Also, it's funny how once this actually got ported to PC, the framerate was pretty bad in a lot of areas, even on modern day computers it has these really weird issues.
