This tune was made for a game called Myth: the fallen lords, by Bungie. It had a city named Madrigal. Great, underrated game series, with great music and athmosphere!

I know this song is not from halo but it feels like halo

A Wraith mortar can be heard in the distance. Close enough that you can hear the plasma soar through the air, but far enough where the explosion is just a faint echo. The year is 2001. You just found this spot in campaign where this music plays while messing around with a Banshee you just stole. You have no adult stuff to worry about. Life is ok and you're living in the moment.

Remenber Martin O'Donnell

This song is originaly from Myth: The Fallen Lords, which has the best atmosphere ever made for a strategy game. Best Dark fantasy, and awesome storyline. You can feel the despair of the humanity, fighting against the fallen Lords on this song. Awesome.

It's amazing how well this track from Myth fits in with the sound of Halo. This track wasn't even in Halo, but it sounds so very similar to the emotional themes within that it fits into the soundtrack as an easter-egg perfectly

Man, I remember first activating this easter egg in the first game, where you hijack that Banshee on AotCR and fly up to the top of the control room. Sitting atop that little ledge, staring up into that vast expanse of snowy sky and the cliffs overhead with that music playing. Feels, man, feels.

I played this song at my brother's funeral. It's hard to believe it's already been 8 years since we lost him. He was only 22...

I sure miss the Halo days, and this reminds me of them. New Halo games may come out, but none of them will ever be like Halo 3 and before

I only heard this song by accident. I've never heard it before till I downloaded the halo theme itself and this was on it. It's so beautiful and somber. It feels like a loved one died.

I love how Myth's spirit was carried in Halo through this track. So full of sorrow, and reminding the player of having a small moment of peace before the conflict gets even worse.

Y'see its an interesting conundrum, isn't it 343 industries can be said to have changed Halo in many ways, be it the art style, the story, the characters, the multiplayer, etc etc But I think I would have been willing to forgive all that if they'd have just kept Marty on the team for the music Halo 4 had some decent tracks I'll admit, but at the end of the day Marty's music was such an integral part of what made Halo different to other games of the era that no-one can replace the man who made all that possible, and without music like this Halo just isn't the same anymore.

Such beautiful soundtracks can lead to sad and bad memories of friends, late night games, forge, co-op campaign, and having fun A salute to halo players among the community who lost good friends on unknown causes

this song has always and always will bring a tear to my eyes.

I picture my porch swing in my back yard five hundred years from now, still standing, still watching those marvelous stars. But those great sparkling lights are now faint ghosts of their former selves, casualties of the war with the Covenant. And yet, somehow, the remains of my life are still there, thanks in no small part to a hero named Master Chief and the thousands of other brave souls who fight for humanity. Funny story, I was listening to this track to reminisce in all the good times I’ve had on Halo in the past, then to my amazement, Halo Infinite is announced at E3. To 343i, “I can’t forgive you... but, you have my thanks, for standing by us to the end.”

Never forget this gem in music

Of all the themes, this one is the best. It's sad as fuck. Reminds us all of those games with our friends. Only to have them disappear. One night you're playing, one of you gets tossed the sniper. The other runs off with the Hog to make the flag run. The other friend team naded you on accident so you get one shot by the enemy. All these moments. Even if you somehow play with them one more time it still isn't the same. Something is missing. You and I don't know what. But it'll never be the same again. Have fun crying. I'm here with ya.

Aww old days now it's on destiny.

What a blast from the past. I remember this song from a string of fan-made maps for Halo Custom Edition for the pc. Because they were essentially still multiplayer maps with scripted text pop-ups and AI spawns, the map couldn't "end" when you got to the end of the mission, but you would know you had completed it because this song would play. IIRC the campaign was about an elite escaping the ring before it exploded- and you actually played as an elite, or a group of elites, despite them being unplayable in basegame Halo CE. You still had human arms in first person- but you could see your player model if you entered a turret or a vehicle. The player was faster than a spartan, had elite dialogue lines (grunts of pain when shot, callouts when the player faced an enemy), and would automatically melee enemies if you bumped into them, causing the camera to visibly lunge forwards. I remember listening to this as my buddies and I crowded into a longsword fighter, and got awkwardly teleported to be flying around a big empty space sky-box, with the exploding Halo ring in the distance, you could fly around in space for as long as you wanted, and player's in the passenger seats could look around the interior in first person.

I can imagine bunch of covsnant cruisers just glassing the planet with this song

9/25/2017 Today is Halo 3's 10th anniversary, and I've dedicated *THIS* day to marathon through the entire campaign in Halo 3 on legendary in its honor. Happy 10th birthday Halo 3!!!

They named the planet Madrigal where the spartans are fighting the elites in the first ep. of the new show.

Thanks to this game... to this song... i knew music and piano were my life. Such a simple song, so much story and depth. Thank you Halo.

I realized Halo was dead the moment the soundtrack was taken away from Martin O'Donnell.

Its a shame this song doesnt play longer. This "Never Forget" and "Deferance for Darkness" are great piano tracks.

Two years ago was the beginning of my junior year at high school, and I got Covid and missed the first two weeks of school. While I was sick, one of my friends was sick as well and we played through the halo games online and my favorite moment shared with him was doing this easter egg in halo 3 and ODST. Two weeks after I got better, my brother tragically passed away from covid and I spent the school year depressed and developed unhealthy eating and sleeping habits. The amazing memories I have from the halo series and the moments I've shared in it with friends mean a lot to me. Two years later, I remember my friends who have all gone off to different universities and now I'm at university myself, and I've learned that grief isn't something you ever completely get over, it's something that you carry with you but the important part is how you carry it. My brother would want me to live life, I guess. What I really want to say is that this song is a bittersweet shared experience that brings me back to a defining point in my life.

I never had an xbox, my parents wouldn't let me, and I couldn't get enough money to buy one. But even never knowing the nostalgic importance of this, it's just a really good song.

I will never forget playing through the halo games with my friends and showing them the Siege of Madrgial location on CE and halo 3. On Halo 3 I brought them to the ramp on the citadel oh the covenant to listen to the track. Later once we moved onto reach my friend showed us the one on New Alexandria. Halo is amazing.

This song fits perfectly with halo.. especially the levels they put it in. Bungie really did a great job, with myth and what they’ve done with halo and the atmosphere in it

Actually not a halo song. It's in the sound track because it's an easter egg hidden in certain locations of most games. It's actually from the game myth.

I just remembered me and my best friend coming to find this secret and waiting up there and sitting up there through the whole song when we were both 12. He passed away about 9 years ago.

I always feel wonder and despair when I hear this. It's like...a calm before the storm. Like looking out off the battlements of your last stand, and seeing the enemy approach, and knowing there's nothing you can do to stop them...but they aren't here yet, and all you can see is the end of your world approaching. And the profound sadness that can inspire.

I dub this as being Bungie's tribute song to Halo...a now ruined franchise...(my honest opinion)

This game means so much to me. I quite literally grew up on this game. As a child I played through halo 1 and 2. I then learned that 3 was coming out and I was stoked. These games have been there for me my entire life. I love and appreciate everyone who made this game. Thank you bungie and 343.

halo fan for ever !! 2001-2011

This takes me back to 2008 when I was messing around on "The Covenant" one day in a Hornet after destroying the Scarabs. I decided to climb the structure of the Citadel and discovered this easter egg, I spent around 10 minutes just listening to it whilst watching a random Banshee flying around in the distance.
