Halo is in alot of pain right now. We've lost our identity for a few years now, alot of us in the Halo community have been re-living memory's of the better days these last few months. Happy story's like these ones are appreciated.
Of course it does its a iconic game and peoples are curious to see what's new peoples think about halo and btw your editing is sick im new subscriber i had a good laugh thank you cant wait to see what's next 🤟🏻😆
The way the reactions to character's deaths slowly become less emotional, as they realize it's the fate that awaits all of Noble team is heartbreaking.
Not really... the game never makes you care about them other than the fact they are Spartans and we know what a spartan is. Most of Noble team acts like assholes honestly, except funnily enough, the spartan 2 Jorge. S-2's are supposed to be the ones emotionally unavailable yet he acts more like a sociable person than all the S-3's combined XD. I love reach but I won't pretend the campaign is a deep, emotional experience. I thought chief was badass, so going to Noble team and seeing these kids with chips on their shoulder who are supposed to be Spartans just act childish and get wiped out made me not like them that much.
@@slinkyslink5161 It isn't the fact that they were the most lovable characters ever, that makes their deaths tragic. It's their devotion to their cause, and their willingness to die for it, that makes it beautiful in a sad sort of way. We respect their devotion, and mourn the loss of some of the greatest heroes the franchise has ever seen. And that's not even taking into account that, despite their abrasive attitudes, they were our comrades throughout Reach's campaign. Besides, Master Chief has attained something of a savior image, as he has never truly been defeated. Noble Team's unwavering resolve and painfully apparent mortality is part of the appeal. They were never fighting to survive. Like Chief, they put the greater good of humanity above their own good. They just didn't have enough plot armor to conveniently survive every catastrophe. Nor does it demean their sacrifice like what happens with Master Chief, who is always prepared to die for humanity, but never does.
@@slinkyslink5161 Right you are, good netizen. And while I will always admire such self-sacrifice in media (Ken Watanabe's character in "The Last Samurai" or Russell Crowe's character in "Gladiator" are magnificent examples), no one is required to share my opinion. I just wanted to let you see it from my perspective.
@@slinkyslink5161 But Master Chief certainly has earned the moniker of "Badass" over his many entries in the series. Especially in the Bungie titles. However, the 343 titles aren't really as bad as people make them seem (at least in my opinion). The Paramount+ series though, is, in actuality as shameless as it has been portrayed. Cheers mate! Have a good day.
Saddest part of Noble team’s deaths is that they are all ironic. Jorge for a big man, his death meant so little Kat despite all her battle awareness never saw it coming Carter died helping his team yet he’d never know if they made it Emile was the one who could take all those who stood in-front of him, yet he was stabbed in the back Six went out as he wanted, a Lone Wolf.
Reminds me of something like how Jorge wanted to die on Reach but didn't, instead dying up in space. Kat was the brains and she died to getting shot in the head. Carter was the leader and he died a death that could only do so much to advance his team forward. Emile loved sharp objects and he gets killed by an energy sword. Six got the "happy" ending, he was a lone wolf and he died as a lone wolf, he is the only one that knew he completed his mission.
We could also include Jun since he didn't die but his absence is him staying back on reach, behind all the fighting, not getting into combat like the rest of his teamates. Just like a sniper.
Jorge: big man, big explosion. Kat: brains of the team, forgot to turn her shields on and got brained because of it. Jun: the sneaky sniper, snuck away. Carter: the captain of noble, went down with the ship. Emile: close quarters expert, died in close quarters. (Also could be said he died protecting six but not his own six.) Noble six: hyper lethal line wolf, died fighting an army all alone.
"And the good news?" "That was the good news." "...Oh." It was at this moment that one could hear the collective cries of players everywhere as they realized exactly what they were getting into. RIP Jorge, still a death that impacts me as I watch to this day.
"He died thinking he took down an entire covenant armada. We should all be so lucky." The beginning of the next mission was actually very difficult for me and my sister, we were basically trying not to cry.
This will forever be my favorite campaign, I think. Chief is great, but the idea that even you the player don't survive just makes it hit so much harder. Makes you truly understand how doomed Reach was.
Correction: The Bungie Spartans take off their helmets when facing death. The 343 studios and Paramount Spartans do it because they can (except Spartan Vanak. He's pretty chill)
@@Deaznkid280 Hey good looking out. You’re right haha I shouldn’t feed into negative energy. Nice to see a fellow man of culture lol. My older brother started with CE on OG Xbox. It’s been a long time since then. Crazy isn’t it? What’s your thoughts on infinite if you don’t mind me asking?
@@TrulyNobo It’s crazy to me to see how at least in some way we have all bonded to the Halo franchise. I grew up playing 3 and only played CE and H2 later in my life. Time has a funny way of rolling and culture certainly brings us together. Glad to see that the OG guys are still around to to talk about what the older games were like in their prime. Have a good one man
@@RagingRavioli22 It’s very refreshing to see. It never fails me to go online somewhere and have a good chat about the halo games. Often brings nostalgia and good memories back. I’d consider any Halo 3 player back in the day a Veteran of halo. After all it’s been 14 years haha. Time flies! Even then I’ve always enjoyed hearing the newcomer’s opinions on newer and older topics. Brings a fresh perspective and hopes that the love for this community will be carried on. Anyways brother, have a good one! Hope to run into you on the battlefield one day👍🏼
dude knowing the halo community this vid is about to blow up im 2 mins in and im hyped af every time i hear someone say they never got to really understand the story of halo because of them being little and coming back to halo later when there older to play it to fully understand it is amazing to me i love being able to relive playing these game for the first time through someone else its just such a great feeling of nostalgia and tbh this is the only game series only up to reach that makes me wana cry every time i see a trailer or just vids like this it just takes me back to when i was just a little kid with my brother playing halo with friends i also stayed up with my elementary school best friend and we would always stay up late playing forge mode or just playing online or in the story we replayed halo 3 so fucking much its unreal and gears of war 3 lol those where some great fucking times simple times and 343 didn't drag halo through the mud at that point
100% when I was younger and started to play reach on opening night, I genuinely wanted a sequel.. then I went though the campaign and I cried a lot more than I care to admit. Still to this day I get hit with a lot of feels playing through it based off the emotions these characters radiate.
Playing halo and gears with my brother and friends split screen are such great memories.....most kid gamers these days wont get to experience those kind of play sessions, really was something different
343 games are not bad. Halo 4 has a great human story. Gameplay is a little weird at times yes some of the enemies aren’t as balanced as other games and that makes it tedious. But it looks beautiful, runs on the same engine as reach, and was released on the xbox360. It’s story is something new and added a whole bunch to the universe and expanded on other things. Halo 5 people just got upset about the marketing. I understand that but talk to anyone who played the game recently having never seen the marketing for it and they will tell you it is a good game. Again the story was innovative and fresh, the characters are fun and get expanded upon a lot. The gameplay mechanics are great and it runs super well. It has literal hours of extra world building and dialogue that isn’t necessary but it’s all there and is all great. Infinite was good a bit short but fixed a lot of issues with the storyline people had with 5. All the simps were so upset about one of the Cortana fragments being evil. The original trilogy? Yeah it’s great and tons of nostalgia. But with the exception of some minor things halo 2 and 3, THEYRE ALL THE SAME GAME. Same story beats almost same exact story structure with certain locations or events switched out but they’re way way similar and way simple. And this is coming from a huge halo nerd and someone who knows basically as much lore as hiddenxperia
ODST and Reach are the two most emotionally immersive games of the Halo universe. They are probably the most enjoyable because of the Master Chief. After playing the Master Chief in Halo 1, 2 and 3 it was the perfect timing to explore playing a different perspective. Imagine a continuity that built on this foundation of Bungie rather than the deviations that 343 took. This was a fan community that experienced the trauma of a divorce and got a new step mom who couldn't cook a meal to save her life.
Kat’s death honestly felt real. That one still sits with me after all these years. She was there, then immediately just gone. I’ve lost immediate family, and that’s how it is. Suddenly just gone
I wrote my final paper on this game for my English class, my professor wanted us to choose something to write about that we enjoy. This game was one of the first things to come to mind. He’s a great professor. I got a 94 and I got him to play Reach. 👌
I’ve always felt that Reach’s campaign was the only Halo campaign that really emphasized how fucked humanity was in the Human-Covenant War and showed how outgunned and outnumbered the humans were, especially when a fireteam of all spartans die, that’s why I like Reach, always found it interesting.
Halo reach is a time capsul of my childhood. I can look at a map, a mission maybe even a voice line or two and it will flood my memory with different parts of my life and what I was doing at the time. The only thing I hate about the mcc edition of the Halo games is they take away the main menu of every Halo game. The Halo reach and Halo 3 menu music and visuals will always instantly make me feel safe and at home. I fell asleep to them countless times after playing hours and hours of forge just messing around or challenging myself in firefight with all waves being elites. I just miss the feeling I'd get when the intro cutscene starts playing with those drums and then you get to see the vast planet of reach. Beautiful but you know it's eventual end is near. Great games
All of Noble team are Spartan-IIIs except for Jorge who is a Spartan-II same type as Master Chief so he trained alongside Chief since they were children. Spartan-IIIs were made to be expendable super soldiers, the UNSC made them in large numbers to be thrown at the enemy, even though the majority of them die on these operations the mission was always a success.
@@zexzell789 yeah I know, hopefully Jun survived Cortanas AI takeover, because Jun was on a Space Station that was a training centre for new Spartan-IVs and the space Stations personal AI allied itself with Cortana and self destructed the space Station killing all the personal and the Spartan-IVs, so hopefully Jun got off before that happened.
Only the cat 1s were meant to be expendable, the cat 2s got extra augmentations and mjolnir which made them much more valuable. Then there’s the gammas who got augmentations that were much more like the spartan 2s augmentations so it was actually a minority of spartan 3s that were expendable
I truly feel sorry for any gamer that never got to experience Halo 3 online, in my opinion it was the best online video game you could’ve played, and nothing has come close to capturing the same kinda fun
Def my favorite part is that the video started with a lot of cutaway type banter that took away from the game. But after Jorge, you progressively paid more and more attention, to the point where you can feel the respect for the game and guilt for taking the team for granted grow at the same time
Jorge's death hit so hard, it was so unexpected. I never expected him to die, and once Kat died I still had hope of surviving. Then, Jun left.. Carter died, Emile died.. And so Six died.. The game is absolutely heartbreaking and still one of my favourite halo games/campaigns. Doesn't just go for halo, but for every game in existence. Reach is just different man.
Still gonna say Halo 5 would have been so much better had Noble Six survived Reach and went after Chief, But my god was Reach a great game. Hit you like a truck but great.
Well, in lore Jorge's death is really REALLY hard. But canonwise they had to kill him in Reach because Chief - in the main trilogy - is the only known SPARTAN-2 to be alive - Jorge was a SPARTAN-2 -.
@eru.maewos7673 my headcannon says he survived. He put his helmet on before firing the slipspace drive, and since Spartans can survive in space, he's still alive somewhere. Granted, his armor is locked, but he's alive
Even as a 10 year old, this game hit very different. Anytime someone brings it up or plays some footage from it I feel more than nostalgia; I feel sorrow for how my favorite childhood franchise how fallen so far from a storytelling perspective. Reach was the last game of its kind and it truly was Bungie’s love letter to the fans
I have to say. My favourite portion of the game is that the armour you use in multiplayer is what appears in the campaign. Makes it so much more personal.
This was my first halo game and me a dumbass decided "you know what? imma try it on legendary with like 4 skulls(i saw them in MCC so yeah) and honestly it felt more impactful because it just seemed like the covenant actually did the damage it does in cutscenes and that it really was a force to fear.
Halo Reach reminds me of a genuine war story beyond the other worldly setting, a grim reminder that there are people who lost their life changing the course of history. Although its one of the more controversial Bungie Halos, I still feel like its one of the more important Halo games made. I still get choked up reading the goodbye/thank you message at the end of the 360 version. Edit: I also laughed exteremly hard at 13:28 like imagining Six took off his helmet for a quick snack "oh no" * crunch crunch crunch *
"There's so many good stories where some brave hero has to give their life to save the day, and because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors cheer, and everyone lives happily ever after. But the hero never gets to see the ending. They'll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. They'll never know if the day was really saved. In the end, they just have to have faith. Ain’t that a bitch.” - Church “RedvsBlue”
I loved this game and used to play it with my Cousin all the time. The theme of losing people in the game hits harder for me these days since my cousin passed away way too early due to cancer. Thinking about the game gets me a little emotional. I wish the 360 servers were still up and I didn't have to only play the MC version.
I remember coming back to play this when I grew up, and I tried by hardest to stay alive at the end, but when that cutscene happened I cried so hard man that sucked wish I could go back
@@aeron_ishi Maybe. But from my perspective, that was just the power of Halo. It was cross generational. Everyone was into it at that time and it offered something for just about anyone. If you were into single player, multiplayer, Firefight (solo or alone), if you were a map maker or a creative type you could do amazing stuff with the theater mode. There was nothing bigger in the Halo 3/ODST/Reach days. Even small fan sites racked up millions of views per day. People were making Halo videos and montages and music or trick videos LONG before it was a function built into their Xbox. Even my little Halo fan art comic strip would rack up thousands of hits on the days when I'd drop new strips. That was just Halo in those days. Everyone from literal children to senior citizens seemed to be digging it. Good times, man. Good times.
@@alanda2724 Occasionally. Between work, caring for my infirmed mother, and taking care of household duties/chores there's just not much time to do video game stuff these days. But when I'm in the mood for a shooter, Halo or DOOM are usually the ones I choose.
2:54 is my wallpaper, to me, this one photo truly speaks a thousand words. Everytime I see it I think of sacrifice and how it'll all pay off in the end.
Reach truly was a love letter from Bungie to the fans. A final sendoff. Ending it exactly as they started it. When I saw the final scene of the Pillar of Autumn, exactly as it started in Halo 1, I knew we had come full circle. And even though it was a sad realization that Halo was done, I could do nothing but love the games and the memories they gave me. Truly one of the best game series of all time.
Even if Halo’s not doing well right now, I always said this when I’m asked my thoughts on ever coming back to Halo: Halo 4 got me into the series, but Reach was my home
I knew exactly how Halo Reach was gonna end. But i got the chance to play it myself not too long ago. And when I did? It was still as heartbreaking as it was because you saw it first hand. The efforts, the hope, the failure, the resolve and passing on the mantle. If you liked Halo Reach? Halo CE is gonna be a blast. But uhm, without spoilers, its gonna become a horror game midway.
crazy part is, when Jun said he will do what is necessary to prevent halsey from being taken by the covenant, he was willing to kill her before they could take her
I finally took the time to play this game, finishing it just today. I got the Chief Collection and am starting the journey to go through every game and really follow the story. Anyways, this one just made me cry a little bit, watching everyone slowly disappear and see how Six began to realize what he had to do at the end. It was way more than I could’ve expected from 2010.
I've replayed lone wolf so many times...the intro piano piece will forever be with me, I have played for hours, days, weeks hoping and praying that there was an alt ending. That's the beauty of Reach that no other halo game has done for me. Glad you enjoyed it.
This game had me crying as a kid. There was never an instance where we witnessed a Spartan actually die until this game. Master Chief was my Superman growing up. Back then, I assumed that Jun also flew off and died since there was no other media covering him. This game was so hardcore, and it ended up being my favorite Halo story.
Reach is the only halo game that gets close to the lore of the books in the sense that it really paints the picture of how big a threat the covenant were to humanity.
Halo Reach made me feel so sad, but happy it gave so many memories in lobbies with friends, making new friends online, playing in custom lobbies. And most of all, the story it told was great. Love your storytelling and glad we could join you on this playthrough.
Reach was a crazy game for me when I was like around 7-8 yrs of age. I practically grew a bond with my spartan and the story reach provided. Each of Nobel’s team death when I saw it for the first time just hurt cuz like I loved the characters. But I remember when I got to lone wolf. The loneliness and hordes of covenant just feel so heavy. The death of noble 6 when Impacted me so hard due to the attachment I had for him that after I finished it. I never touched that mission for so many years due to the weight of your own Spartans death. It was til I was like 14-15 that I replayed it again and yet it still hurt seeing. This game just gave me such a strong emotion that I haven’t seen in a game in a long long time
This is my favorite game of all time because of my friends, I miss my brothers, I miss this amazing story, I miss everything about it, god I miss the experience of Reach in the heyday
I have played this game many times with many friends over the years, I thought I was finally done with feeling sad about it but this video was done perfectly and I felt every emotional beat like I did back when I was 9 playing through the game for the first time. Thank you for this video.
I loved this video so much I wish there was more of it. So many scenes not shown like the civilian ship going down on exodus. Great editing, fun game play, good shit brother. This game, Halo CE-Reach is something so beyond special to me. I remember when it came out. My life was always a mess but this story, these characters, the journey i went on from Halo to the Ark and back to Reach did so much more than bind me together through some of the shittiest times. I met some of the most amazing people, the machinima at the time like Rise of The Spartans and Red vs Blue was something unlike youtube has ever seen before and since. This story is so near and dear to my heart, i cant tell you the amount of times ive played or beaten every Halo. When reach came out i hadnt had internet yet, except for a brief moment during Halo 3s run, i grinded that games campaign and firefight to the max level and got the haunted helmet before my very first match. The music, the sounds, the enviornments, its all so....breathtaking... Nothing has come close to this series for me except for BG3 and even then...still...Halo...i wish the series went with Reach. Halo didnt deserve to be what it has become...
In an alternate universe, Bungie would have made a game called "Foehammer", where all you do is pilot a Pelican through various battles (drops, evacs, infiltrations, etc.) culminating in your involvement with the Master Chief on Halo.
Reach once it came out was adored and now after so many years and changes and after seeing what halo has become now a lot of Halo fans have looked back and realized that Reach was the golden era…… We just didn’t know it…
This was an extremely fun and enjoyable video, im glad I got to watch this due to my insomnia, I remember crying at the end of this game when I replayed it recently all those sacrifices and it meant little to nothing for the survival of reach the one that broke me the most was kat's death it was so quick and anticlimactic compared to the rest it was heart breaking having to replay that cutscene/mission again, keep up the amazing videos officially one of my new favorite content creators on this platform.
I remember when this game came out. My friends and I all looking up any information we could find about the game weeks beforehand. Finding out Jorge was an SII and the rest were SIII's was an absolutely epic moment for me as a fan of the series, books and games. Then watching him be the one to go first and the III's going one by one felt like I was playing the books instead of the games. Like watching Will go while 1 v 2ing Hunters with his fists. To see captain Key's face when he says goodbye hit so damn hard when you know about his history with the SII program. To be able to see it all happen and come as close to experiencing the losses was eye opening. I will love these games forevor. Shame 343 didn't understand the legacy they were being given to carry on.
Reach was my first halo game I bought and it was by accident! I saw my friends play ODST so I tried to buy the same game, but I didn’t realize at the time that they always misplaced the ODST disc within a Halo Reach cover.
