it is an interesting take on him. But i dislike the fact it takes away the sangheilli charm with the said brute aspect I do like it but at the same time it feels off.
@@krios7299 it was a good character to show the opposite of the Arbiter we know of, much more obedient, arrogant, but equally if not more powerful. Unfortunately 343 seems like they went "hey people liked the Arbiter from Halo Wars, let's make all the Elites big ugly hulking brutes, seeming forgetting Bungie literally created an enemy called BRUTES to fill that roll. Hoping they straighten things out in Infinite, let the Brutes be the big ugly angry beasts, charging straight towards the enemy, teeth bared and covered in blades and leather. Bring the Elites back to their nobler side, agile and powerful but much more intelligent about using cover, flanking, and making coordinated strikes.
@@EsplodingBomb judging by the direction their going with the banished i would say that's about half right but the brutes from the banished seem oddly more civilized than tarturus's brutes from the covenet Edit: i mean this as in these will be brutes with some unique character development and a side we will appreciate much like how we like villians with good story too them Keep in mind im not comparing the two im just using an example here but Arthas the Lich king from world of warcraft would be a great example of a villian you love from story perspective
@@EsplodingBomb The elites are a bit beefier in Wars but Ripa was just a massive for an elite. Most elites are average like me then you get a rare 300 more lbs of pure muscle like a competing strong man which is more of what Ripa is
Based on what we know of how arbiters are chosen. This particular elite has probably just run out of fucks to give. Only looking for that final task that will see him released from his bondage
Nah that would have been mad respect from them. Not only did he kill the elite boss, he also did it while being a regular humans. Spartans are far too used to seeing marines literally torn apart by the covenant
I don’t think Forge gets enough respect from the Halo community. He literally beat an Elite, not just any Elite but an Arbiter in hand to hand combat. And his sacrifice saved the Human race. He would of made an amazing Spartan IV.
@@-.Outlaw.- yeah and he landed a knife right into his throat, then quickly turned his sword against him in the stomach. That’s really close to how real life fights work, it’s not like star wars where the good guy and the bad guy block 300 hits and run away for another fight in the future
1:44 "And leave us defenseless?" I believe this line right here - the implication of a threat the Covenant must defend themselves against - was the line that 343 built the Banished on.
Tbh it could make really good sense tbh cause humanity is more defenseless to stop the covenant especially during this I believe so that's actually a really good point there
Unfortunately that's not the case. Atriox began his rebellion a few years before 2552 (the year when Halo: Reach, Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo ODST and Halo 3 take place). Edit: The Banished rebellion started in 2549
Ripa ‘Moramee was a Sangheili, who acted more like a Jiralhanae because he didn’t care about the Sangheili, but his faith in the “Great Journey” bullcrap was true, he was vicious
1:42 It's actually a crime to draw weapons in the presence of a Hierarch. If he wasn't the Arbiter, he would have been arrested and executed by the Honor Guards.
Regret was unique among the prophets for being kind of a badass. He spent most of his life working around Elites, to the point where he adopted much of their boldness and ideologies. I'm sure he wasn't too peeved about Ripa pulling out his utensils in front of him.
@@abdellah7879 no because he was punched in the stomach he had no armor plating on his stomach even if he did be punched pushed plating through his stomach armor plates do not just stop all energy.
Not disagreeing with the Spartans choice to throw away the body of a sacred military position within the Elites but lowkey throwing away the Arbiter like that was disrespectful af 😂
@@alexdobma4694 Would've been a neat thing to add for Thel's "promotion" to the role and he sees all the holes/burn marks from the last owner! Prophet of Mercy: _Try not to get shot where the last one died._
@@BirdmanDeuce26 wouldve also made sense in a way because the Arbiters were supposed to be tools, weapons to be wielded and discarded. So the broken armor would be a testament to that.
Old Halo writing was so full of energy and a unique charisma! I'm really glad it's looking like Halo: infinite is going to try and get beck to this sort of style while still pulling of some character development!
Rippa Moramee is my favorite Sangheili. He is a freaking anomaly between elites, he is bigger and stronger than a normal elite and also had a very cool personally and loyalty to the covenant.
Y'know what I love about these cinematics? Most of them are just simple conversation and perspectives. They make everything feel so much more alive, because of it - a small but immeasurably impactful thing.
@@richardch.4356 His arrogance had nothing to do with it forge killed him because that’s what was intended; Ripa should’ve killed him but the story would’ve took a complete 180 and they weren’t about to do that.
Actually it does he was to busy talking instead of going straight for the kill if he had the mind set of thel forge would've died right then and there being over confident made him vulnerable.
I like how his corpse just gets unceremoniously shoved off a cliff at the end. It's hilarious because he holds such an honorable title but his body is treated with such little care. It's very fitting for a villain like him. Especially considering that due to how the game ends the covenant would've had to make new arbiter armor. So this centuries old armor is destroyed on top of it's user being dead. Nice little bit of insult to injury for the covenant.
Ripa Moramee was very aggressive with his tactics and strategies. Obviously he underestimated Sgt. Forge just for being a "weaker" race. Overall a worthy adversary though.
I remember this. Despite their technological advantage over humanity the covenant at this point understood that exterminating all of humanity which at this point numbered in the tens of billions and colonized hundreds of worlds would be a very difficult and enormous task. I remember reading it on halopedia.
Ripa Moramees height pisses me off .Elites typically range from 7'5-8'6 so that puts the average at 7'11 . Ripa visibly towers over literally every elite in this game and Ripa is only listed at 8'1 on the official Halo Pages ......makes literally no sense . He is clearly closer to 9ft.
Such a missed opportunity with this character! He woulda been great in HW2 . Like an adversary to atriox since they’re both massive. Ripa has such good and violent lore behind him (he was a criminal) i would have loved to see more of his front line work. Alas, rather than ripping forge into two pieces, he dies by his own sword.
I want to see a game where you play as the villains for the whole thing, with fully customizable armor. Kinda like Halo Reach but for Elites. Kill blasphemous humans and glass a planet at the end
I want a Halo game where you play as a female odst who's a spartan 1. In the game you'll get to fight insurrectionists but later on you fight The Covenant
It would be cool to see a halo game that revolves around arbiter and his army or a game where you play as an elite that is part of arbiters beliefs and its also similar to halo reach
I beat the Halo Wars campaign a million times when I was younger but as I grow older I love this game more and more. The dialogue, the story, the characters the quality of the cutscenes is just phenomenal.
Jorge went hard but that last line was uncalled for cause he survived cause of plot amor cause in reality he shoulda died the first time they fought buh that fight always excites me as a kid
Forge just had plot armor, although, he was probably a spartan 1 or something, so he wasn't exactly a push over, either. Regardless, this Arbiter only got killed because he was cocky. If he had just killed Forge when he had the chance...well, that's it, really. He would've killed Forge.
this game was my introduction to the Halo Series, when I first got acquainted with the Arbiter, I thought that was his name and not his rank. The next game I played was Halo 3 and when the Arbiter revealed himself, I thought that it was the same guy since he used the same tactics as the Arbiter in Halo Wars (going invisible and using Plasma Swords), was really confused as to why he was on the Human's Side. Played Halo 2 Anniversary and immediately went "OOOOOOOHHHHH" when the game tells you that the Arbiter is a rank for a Dishonorable Warrior Officer and that there have been many over the generations. Still, the Arbiter from this game is a pretty cool example of how they are portrayed from the Humans' Perspective. His brute-strength, his intimidating demeanor and how he has shoved aside his subordinates. It all really shows why he deserved that rank not through being effective but by being a loose-cannon and thank god we didn't get to fight him because the whole game portrayed him as somebody who could easily flog our characters, only for him to get defeated in a cutscene like the game is telling us; "See? He ain't so bad."
I love how the arbiter and most of the Elites in Halo Wars have a freakish fish-monster look. really makes them more scary and alien, but at the cost of them being less grounded in reality.
Well i wouldnt say its better because most og halo fans didnt like the way halo wars was to them. Tbey wanted it to be a fps shooter game but not a strategy game.
@@Chief_Operation we all have our hopes and dreams but for franchise like halo to do something like that they really evened the playing fields I just wish they had more recourses rather than the covenant and the marines I wanted playable flood or thourunners
I was an idiot for thinking this was the same Arbiter as in Halo 2 and 3 and not just that but thought Jerome was Master Chief, this was me at a young age.
Tbh he probably would be that fact he was trying to evil monologue and not just finish it but karma got him but in the lore he was always known as a brash cocky Sangheili so his downfall dying like this isn't suprising to the lore nuts
Anders being able to use the Forerunner tech for me always sealed it that humans ARE Forerunners. It should have been that. The Didact could have been an ancient human. All of it could have existed as JUST ancient humans. Too bad.
