Singer Halsey landed herself in hot water recently with ranting about inequalities pertaining to hotel shampoo. And it sent me into a rant.... social media / imthehonestboy / imthehonestboy business inquires: muyhonest@gmail.com
LATTEPEACHES - But almost about everyone knows hotel shampoo sucks, so if she’s been traveling for a few years you would think by know she would learn to bring her own shampoo.
She actually does have mixed hair. There is a photo of her with very textured, curly hair. However, now it’s not because it short so I don’t see why she can’t use it.
Unvive Guy Uhm, no... people of color was first used by Martin Luther King JR. “Colored people” was used during segregation. Furthermore if this shampoo issue was actually an issue it would affect everyone because it’s cheap shampoo that doesn’t work on most if any hair black, white, Mexican, etc. And no, you must be uncultured and ignorant because not all races other than blacks have straight hair. (Black people can have natural straight hair and white/Asians/Indians/Mexicans etc can have curly/kinky hair) Who is “we”.
Unvive Guy 1-No, I’m saying that the first time it was commonly/mainstreamed used was during MLK era (even then he said citizens of color) and again, poc is less offensive because it addresses all people of color but doesn’t reference racism, segregation, etc. 2- No, you must be ignorant on hair. Black people can naturally have straight hair even if they are fully African and can also have blond hair even if fully African. 3- I know... that’s why the shampoo scandal doesn’t just affect Africans. Point is, poc is not offensive and has just now been commonly used therefore it doesn’t reference slavery, racism, etc.
Unvive Guy We “divide” because when speaking in America because the majority is white. So why mention each individual race that is 0.01%? Instead you can collectively say “people of color” which stands for anyone that is not white. In Africa you can just call white people white? Because it’s one group.
I love how she always champions herself as the "activist who speaks out for POC" then rants about an issue actual POC couldn't give less of a shit about... There are more important racial issues than cheap shampoo that can easily be replaced.
Or how she implied that you're ugly if you have "dry n frizzy" hair. Like if that's what she thinks of her own hair then what does she think about black people hair? That it's ugly? Halsey burying her own grave. She needa stop while she's ahead and take that L
Right! People of color just bring their own. I'm very picky about my hair so I trust my own products. I swear white people whining about trivial stuff like this is just for attention.
**Teacher pulls down projector** Halsey: OMFG WHY IS THE SCREEN WHITE **tweet tweet** **Teacher starts talking about the types of angles** Halsey: HOW HOMOPHOBIC WHY IS THERE A SRAIGHT ANGLE BUT NOT A QUEER ANGLE??? **tweet tweet**
silversoulss if she is fortunate why complain let someone else complain instead of you complaining knowing you got mad money like....you look stupid for even saying anything like you can open up your own white people shampoo company if you wanted to😩
CHLOE' EASTER "White people shampoo" can be everything from half a dollar to as much as you want to pay. POC can also buy cheap shampoo, but most care enough about their hair to invest some money into it. I bought a 20 dollar co-wash, just to find out it was overrated af :( obvs a hotel will only give you enough to get clean.
why is she getting offended on our behalf? poc, including myself, have SPECIFIC routines when washing their hair. no self respecting person of color is going to use cheap shampoo on their hair .
I use pretty much any shampoo and I have plentyy self respect But sorry am too poor to have been fortunate enough yet to stay at an hotel and wash my hair there
Girl... Halsey literally irritates me so much. No one has ever just made me rolled my eyes when I read their name. She's trying to fit in and be relatable. She knows what is trendy to talk and complain about.
Halsey's selective biracial act, white savior complex is tired. I can't imagine being able to find offense in everything. If she actually cared as much as she says she does, she would focus on real issues, take constructive criticism from others, and stop these embarrassing rants.
Mystique she shouldve just embraced what she said and then let it die. Im actually surpised she kept defending herself. People who think theyre right dont do this lmao 💀
If you can afford a hotel you can afford to take a trip to CVS and buy a travel size suave or coconut oil or whatever you need. The hotel is already a luxury. She just wants to feel smart because she’s clearly very insecure.
I thought that was rude as hell, basically saying black people are all so poor that we can't even buy our own hair care which is a slap in the face to black people who worked hard got an eduaction and can afford to travel
She said there was no “good” shelf’s in stores for these hair care products. I don’t know what stores she goes to but most stores have one good shelf for it, but if you really need help, go to a store that sells really good hair care for your hair; I can find at least three or four in most places where I live and I’m in the south.
i find it ironic that through all of this she has to flex on us that she stayed in a hotel that gives hermes toiletries... like ok thanks sis no one asked
Isabela Louise I only know her for her drama. When she first came out i didn't even get a chance to listen to her music before she started getting into so much drama
Choloyolo85 her dad is mixed with black which means she is like 25 percent black that’s not a lot lol she needa stop acting like she will ever face the struggles us people of colour do and stop trying to play the victim she will never be black and she needs to get that
I'm white and I can confirm that that shampoo was cheap, watery, and shitty. Yes I've been to one, and yes showering was the thing I looked forward to the *least*.
Something about the fact that Halsey called out Hotel shampoo bothers you, which also stems from your insecurities, and those of which the white supremacist system is currently experiencing.
@@hakeemsd70m Bitch shut the fuck up you be out here commenting under every person calling her out for being a dumbass bitch instead of focusing on real issues. You're both on the same boat trying to gain oppression points. Only difference is, she's a white passing SJW tumblr fake woke snowflake while you're an actual black person facing real racism issues. Focus on those and stop defending that idiot.
Queen of Ravens -I am the whitest of white. I’m polish and I’m that bitch who gets white concealer at ulta and i have insanely curly/coily hair. Her dad is 1/4 african american or something so she thinks shes black or smth
@@skoffx4210 You have your nerve. White people always be like "I'm 00000000.1% Native American" and nobody bats an eye, but girl Halsey can't be 1/4 (25%) Black without it sounding like she's complaining? Your reaction in itself comes from your lifelong supremacy upon which you were raised around.
Hot Cheeto This is just me (you don't have to agree with me) but i feel like ever since she revealed herself to be biracial, she used her half-black status to her advantage.
Hot Cheeto honestly, as someone who is biracial i can't believe she just keeps pushing it on even if people already offered their own insights on how her whining is irrelevant. she keeps backtracking once people tell her it's not that deep, with manipulative victimizing behavior she just keeps on expanding her once really petty point. she provokes people with a stupid statement then suddenly turns the table on THEM saying that she doesn't wanna continue talking about what SHE started. it's so laughable, she even turns her perspective on them making it sound like they're the ones who are expounding on the "shampoo" issue. she really needs a reality check. her white-passing ass sometimes just has to stop trivializing all of the struggles pocs go through, because as white looking as she is i'm sure she got several free passes in public
She has to end everything with lol or lmfao. I find it so ridiculous when people constantly put lol or lmfao during a debate or argument, it's like they're trying so hard to act unbothered or that they don't even care, when they're clearly bothered.
lmao what? i hope she knows no one uses that cheap .25 cents hotel shampoo. if her point is hotel shampoo doesn’t benefit POC, I might as well rant that hotel soap is bad for my eczema *TrIgGeReD* .
Exactly what I thought, I have eczema, my skin is atopic, my hair needs specific care too aaaand so? Lol hotels’ toiletries are just cheap shit that all of us use just if we forget to bring our own
As a person of color myself, I wish white SJW's would stop getting offended on my behalf. It makes poc look like we are something to pity. That's not what we want either. We want equality and fairness.
Hotel shampoo doesn't work for anyone's hair. Whether you are black or white. I am white, and I have thick, wavy hair. It doesn't work for my hair. It tangles it, and dries it out. Also, going to a hotel and going on vacation is a privilege. One that I do not have right now.
Emma Cat I know same I have thin wave semi wavey hair with a very dry scalp and it makes my scalp dry and itchy and make my actually hair slick and oily its the worst
I've only ever been in a hotel when on a school trip in year 6. I've always been in a caravan when on holiday with my family, and, for 3 years I haven't been on a week holiday at all. She could afford to go to a hotel every day if she wanted to. And she complains.
Same. I'm white. I have coarse, thick, and semi curly hair. And it's long. I have to use special shampoo (only one brand) to keep my hair as less frizzy as possibly. It also keeps my hair from shedding so much. But the biggest thing is it keeps my scalp rash free and doesn't make it dry up. Hotel shampoo would just ruin my scalp and hair.
I'm left handed. I don't go and complain on Twitter that right handed people are more privileged than me and no schools provide notebooks for left handed people.............
As someone with natural hair ("black hair") and a 4b hair type I don't care about hotel shampoo bc yeah it doesn't work for my hair but it also doesn't work for anyone's hair plus wtf are they gonna do see a black women walking into the hotel and pull out some Shea Moisture.
She literally looks and sounds like someone who says “I’m not racist! I’m 12% black!” After saying something racist against black people. She doesn’t look like, stand up for, or represent the black community, why is she trying to hard to complain for us???????? (I know you don’t have to ‘look/act’ like a black person to be black but c’mon. really :/)
Bus driver: I’m sorry m’am this is the disability seat. Halsey: k first of all, hotel shampoo is offensive and racist. Bus driver: I’m sorry to disturb you m’am.
CHLOE' EASTER there are so many types of hair they aren’t going to spend money on making sure everyone has shampoo for them , why can’t people just go buy some it isn’t that expensive, if you can afford a hotel you can afford shampoo... problem solved 😒
*Halsey doesn't even have afro hair, so wtf is she even talking about!?* She has curly hair, even if it's frizzy, it still doesn't have the same texture as afro hair
no the fuck she is not, she's using being "black" for attention, for clout. It marginalises black people even more. Her dad is biracial, she at at MOST 25% black yet is going around saying she is black - literally practicing white supremacy (1 drop rule).
Hakeem Sd70M everything is racist these days. NO I laughed at this and I’m not racist I like to get to know people as an INDIVIDUAL not as a race nor just them. Halseys a crybaby white privileged girl who spends her life saying “IM BLACK! My hair is curly so the shampoo is racist!” Lol what a joke!
Hakeem Sd70M dear, are you okay? sweetie, i think there’s something a bit wrong with you. Bringing up Rosa Parks and calling it, ‘Closet Racism,’ is not cute deary.
"guys ,,,,,,,, no please don't disagree with me ! i stayed in a hospital most likely for two weeks maximum when i was 14 !!!!!!!!!!!! my life is SO HARD uwu"
Oh my gosh I never noticed the discrimination! Where is the blonde shampoo? Blond shampoo? Dirty blonde shampoo? Brunette shampoo? Light brunette shampoo? Cat shampoo? Dog shampoo? Mexican shampoo? African American shampoo? Potato shampoo? Chicken shampoo? Baby shampoo? Adult shampoo? Teen shampoo? Elder shampoo? 4’ shampoo? 5’ shampoo? 6’ shampoo? Canadian shampoo? Rich people sham- In HOTELS for goodness sake?!
Since BTS are so famous, they have experience with rude people, obsessive people, etc. Therefore, I'm pretty sure they know how to deal with people by now. Also, I'm sure they are very kind people, so that adds to it. ^^
so do we have to cater for each race? should we have white people shampoo, and then black people shampoo, and then south asian shampoo and east asian shampoo? coz within races everyone has different textures as well... also what does she want? does she want the hotel to ask you what your race is so they can put that shampoo in your room? or do they just have a "store" in the hotel where you can order your race's shampoo. Hotel shampoo doesn't work for anyone, the issue is not "the norm is catered for white people", the issue is hotel shampoo is just shit
I agree she’s reaching but you can advocate for a cause that doesn’t apply to you. Sometimes people in higher positions use their credibility to bring awareness to issues that people otherwise wouldn’t notice
Her hair is actually really curly naturally, she's shown it in some of her pictures. And as the person above me said, you can advocate for a cause that doesn't necessarily apply to you, so long as your heart is in the right place. This whole thing is dumb though.
Casey Heidt Did she get it permanetly straightened? Because she cut her hair quite short and I'm kinda confused by how she would straighten it everyday.
I use hotel shampoo when I have to and I’m black and don’t care about the shampoo. They can’t put every type of shampoo in the hotel. 🤦🏾♀️ it’s just some emergency shampoo in case something happens
"POC are confined to a tiny isle" idk where you live sweetie but POC haircare is a billion dollar business and have hundereds of stores in multiple cities sit downnnnn
I moved into the city from my little ass town and I've noticed that all my dollar stores near me have only black hair products and there's some brand name stuff or just generic stuff but it's mostly black hair care. Which I have noticed is more natural and organic with no sulfate and stuff. It's honestly good for everyone's hair minus a few things that are only needed for thick dryer hair. But when I lived in my town there honestly was 2 maybe 3 black hair care products total at each store and some didn't even have any at all. There were probably 3 black families in my whole county though. But in the city they do a pretty good job keeping stocked what the surrounding population is looking for and buying. They even added in a whole new makeup section with darker shades and stuff. Because they realized that they're other stuff wasn't selling as much. And all the new stuff was gone within a week despite it being from a dollar store
I love how she’s like “I’ve been to hotels that have Hermès” like yeah... and that’s because you went to a nice hotel... it’s like she subconsciously doesn’t realize her privilege.
@@spedacular768 you're acting like 25% isnt a large ratio. My dads half black half indian, I get questions on my ethnicity all the time when meeting new people it was worse when I was in high school. I look like no one in my family, for years people always said I looked like my father's mothers side whom I'm not close with.
ashleyisawesome18 yeah, still. She is only 25% black. I wouldn’t go around saying I’m a person of colour, if I have such an insignificant amount in me. The bitch is mostly white, so therefore, she is white.
jeeze, she's got some serious white(passing)-saviour complex. How does she even know what's best for poc's hair? it's not like poc all have the same hair texture.
Angelisa she is technically part POC but she has claimed before that 'she is a black woman' which is just categorically false (A lot of AA's can have around 1/4 European ancestry, does that make them white people?) . She has the same hair texture (loose curls) as many white people so according to her the hotel shampoo is made for her anyway. It's very damaging for this mixed race white girl to act as if she's some sort of civil rights activist, or can speak on behalf of the black community in any capacity. Of course she's 'black' when it's essential to her 'being woke' but never acknowledges that she has predominantly 'white' features so she too benefits from the 'white people shampoo' she's complaining about. She should be using her platform to elevate actual voices of the black community, not speaking for them
@Cherry Blossom They meant different races, because it's common to relate race to skin color even though it's more than that. Different races have different hair textures, you may be white and have frizzy and curly hair but it's probably not kinky like an afro is, but yeah your race and ethnicity does contribute to your hair type/texture because genetics
I find it kinda ironic that the same people that are talking about how rampant white privilege is, are simitantiously arguing about shampoo. Like if that ain't first world problems idk what is.
But doesn’t Halsey have um- straight hair? Also, as a south Asian person, my hair is thick and gets oily/greasy easily, but even I can use hotel shampoo, so why can’t Halsey?
Adrianna Some Asians have naturally curley/wavey hair. Ive known only a couple of Asians like that though, and they're both South East Asian. Its not common, but it exists.
First: Halsey is not even black, she'd might be biracial but her hair definitely doesn't require the same hair care as it would from someone with an afro or just curly hair in general (speaking as someone with a naturally extremely curly hair) Second: Who even uses the hotel shampoos? Most of us bring our own! Halsey, we all know you ain't that relevant at the moment! Stop being an attention seeker in order to start a Twitter drama that revolves around a dumb topic. People are dying because of the poisoned water, children are starving or are forced into prostitution, there's a thing called slavery still going on and everyday people commit suicide.
she fits the definition of biracial but shes barely even 25% black. for some reason, she thinks she's half black or something, but her dad is the biracial one so she's nearly 25% black
My hair is curly as hell and constantly gets tangled and stuck together and I'm white. Full blooded white. It's funny when people say that it's a black-only issue lmao.
banana puding I work in a hotel. Most people don't use the shampoo we put there. It's not good. It's cheap. Well give you more if you want to, but in general the shampoo is a gift from the hotel. They don't have to put anything there at all.
Her hair is pretty "white" and hair doesn't really have a race? There are different textures and race often effects that, yes, but c'mon. Are you so shallow that this matters? Get your own product. Hotels don't have to provide you that.
Dizzy Melodies Don’t wanna seem like I’m defending her because I stopped stanning her a long while ago for reasons like this, but her natural hair is actually curly and POC af. Look at her childhood photos and you’ll see
I saw an entire little thread in the replies to Halsey's tweet of people saying things like "girl, I've got a Jew-fro, my hair is more natural than yours, what are you talking about POC? Is anyone dumb enough to use hotel shampoo anyways?"
Ok so I’m white AF but I have curly hair and I can’t use the hotel shampoo and stuff but I buy those little plastic bottles for travel and take my own shampoo/conditioner that works for my hair. Those bottles cost like a dollar(?) it’s not that much
Elizabeth LeBeau Same, I’m white as a sheet and have some weird mix of curly and wavy. I used hotel shampoo once... No, hunny, never again. I always bring my own stuff
