Hahaha have you got him yet? I’ve got hot shot and nucleus sitting in my bench ready to film as well. Swoop from Singapore but the deluxes were surprisingly jus at Australian retail. Apparently hasbro Australia made a mistake and sent that stock out early
@@HamManReviews No, I didn't even think this would be out for a while more. Man the most recent thing I got was Shard, and Magmatron. So you are like almost a whole line ahead of me there. And man you always seem to have so much fun with your toys in your videos.
@@HamManReviews I threw the Plesiosaur across the room in Frustration when trying to transform it the first time. I can safely say it is the Commander I have been least impressed with.
Love him.. I took pics with the full team.. & the 5pack Jackie their father 😏 so looking forward for 86 devastator.. Heard a rumour he can lift a dinobot over his head..🤯🤠
I'll start my comment by saying I've seen enough in reviews and photos to know I'm going to happy with this figure once I have it in hand. Also, no figure is ever perfect, mainly because there will be always compromises somewhere in the appearance due to the transformation engineering. Not to mention, anyone's personal preferences/expectations will never be met when someone else creates the design. Recently I've realized that I do not like metallic paint for face sculpts; it highlights the high points too much, makes shadowed areas too dark, and just creates too much contrast. This was brought to my attention with the 'dead' Ironhide & Prowl 2-pk, and has been completely confirmed with the more recent Autobot 5-pk. I absolutely love the look of Sunstreaker, and the gray, non-metallic paint used for his face. It's just right; it gives the impression of shiny metal, without being over-done or too contrasty. Back to Swoop... His dino mode was always going to be too big; there was just no avoiding that. So they should've gone all the way and made his legs longer. He should've been as tall as the others, and in adding height, it would've made his torso proportions appear thinner/trimmer. This is a common issue with TF. Other minor issues I see with Swoop; wings could have been wider/bigger. The forearms should have had covering panels. The red head crest/point should have been angled back just a bit; that's very evident in the animation model. I agree the dino beak should have been thinner; it is a bit too pelican-like. Not to mention, a thinner beak would have allowed for a thinner torso, which helps with the overall proportions. Then lastly, and is is an issue I have with all of the Dinobots-- too much molded detail. And I get it, these are larger figures and surface areas are larger. I don't think these areas should have been completely void of detail. But in most areas, it's too much. Take a look at Kingdom Cylconus, SS86 Scourge/Sweep, and even Hot Rod. Somehow, whoever designed those figures was given the greenlight to keep it simple. And the results are beautiful. Other figures such as the ER seekers, and even NF Soundwave would have greatly benefitted from this balance. Same thing with these Dinobots. If a goal of this subline is to create screen-accuracy, then too much molded detail is a very objective observation. While I don't know how molded details affect a figure's budget, I'd assume less of this could have given enough wiggle room to address at least one of the minor issues I listed above. Between the relatively simple engineering & the smaller stature, this is a stretch for being a leader class toy. I was hoping this would include a handful of blast effects that could have been shared between the group. And yet, considering all of these critiques, I'm still very, very excited for this figure, and overall, he's still quite good. While I'd say Snarl and Grimlock are probably the best, Swoop is right up there, and for me, is better than Sludge or Slag. Solid review. I look forward to more.
Totally agree that no figure is going to please everyone but part of the gig with these vids is having to quantify and weigh in on the figure. I'm grateful for the surface detail at this scale cos as cool as those other figures are these guys just wouldn't look at home with your other figs without it. I think they've done a good job of bringing in some of sculpt deets from the toys. I do wish the NF soundwave had of had more retooled elements to make him a lil smoother. I also appreciate the time it take to write a comment of this volume and love getting into the hobby like this
When they’ve been leaning into smaller leaders with more pack ins to equal value I thought for sure they’d take that route with swoop. They’re so cool altogether though that it’s hard to be too salty
Yeah, he could have been a lil skinnier, and his arms really should have compressed more in Dino mode but besides that he looks great, I can’t wait to get him and complete my set of Dinobots. A flight stand would have also been very nice, but I have a feeling we’d have to sacrifice more than what we’d like to for one. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if there’ll be a 3rd party flight stand for him.
Great review. I've picked up the Non Nef rifles for Slag and Sludge, swords and the black Slag head. Just picked up Grimlock and I've got Swoop on pre order. They look brilliant so far as just the four, they'll look amazing as all 5. Agreed on making his torso/ beak a little less boxy and stylised
I am assuming the crotch notch on the front beneath the tip of the beak in bot mode is for a flight stand, but I haven’t seen any reviews actually show that in action yet. He looks fantastic. Can’t wait for my preorder to ship.
Got swoop earlier this week and I really like him. He was always pretty close in size to the others in the cartoon so the scale doesn’t bother me and I don’t really find him to be too wide. I do wish the arms could’ve collapsed more for Dino mode but overall I’m pretty impressed with the whole team. I’m not sure I can even pick a favorite, I think I’ve been most impressed with sludge but they all are pretty close to perfect for chug dinobots. Great video as always
Not too sure why they went for the Leader class for this dude. I feel like he could have worked as a Voyager, considering how he's the smallest of the Dinobots. Still, this Swoop is a cool figure, and I'm glad that people collecting this team now have them all together. Personally, I only bought Grimlock because he's just the coolest. He's so cool that I don't feel that he looks out of place in my display without his dino buddies. ^^
I respect that choice, Grim has often been a solo operator. I think leader for height was good choice l, but a lil thinner could have resulted in some cool pack ins
I eagerly anticipate when Pulse will ship mine. I don’t have it so I’ll reserve judgement. You ask which is your favorite meaning mine. I love all the robot modes. Dinos? Well Grimlock and Slug are my faves. I wanted to like Snarl and Sludge more but I really dislike the design choices with Snarl’s tail and Sludge seems puny and needs big mods for under carriage. Slug is my favorite Dinobot but never owned G1 version. I had Snarl and my brother Swoop. We loved those. I really like but not quite to “love” these Studio series versions. But yea I want to play with a pile of Sharticons with my Dinobots on top. Grrrrrrwwwwwl!
I know what you mean with Snarl. I would have liked that tail to have a lil more offensive capability. I just wish I had more sharkticons. Grimlock always wants to munch metal
You lucky so and so! Congrats! Good review. Don’t know if I agree with you on the looks. Feels very Swoop to me. Doesn’t feel too broad in my opinion. Maybe I’ll feel differently when I get it in hand.
It’s nothing too egregious, but if he were a lil smaller maybe he could have had a slightly more complex transformation and then hit real hard in both modes.
What are you talking about his face ain’t Swoops he’s on point face sculpt included . Third party upgrade kit is on eBay plus some Toy Hax when it comes out good lord 😂
