Outstanding review Ham-Man!! I cannot decide which is the better figure, Nucleous or Magneous, since they are both great Transformers and Rock Lords. lol :D Keep on being amazing.
What are you talking about his face ain’t Swoops he’s on point face sculpt included . Third party upgrade kit is on eBay plus some Toy Hax when it comes out good lord 😂
I'm late on him, but he's $38US on Amazon, so he's on the way. I'm not into the Unicron trilogy, but have picked up a few of the enw ones, Prime, Screamer, Megs, Cybertron Screamer, so why not? Got him, and the new one Cybertron one, on the way. Unfortunately as well as a way overpriiced $80 Snarl. Leaves just Swoop, and a non neon Grimlock to round that team out. so yeah. I guess I'm not done afterall. I didn't buy a single transformers product last month, thought I was priced out, then the next month, I overpay for 2 figures, cuz, I'm consistant......ly inconsistant.
Yeah, I was surprised how early I found them in Australia. I still haven't found Gears. I was dissapointed how little you can do with the weaponiziging, but I like the look, especially for the other one; Shard
🤖I don’t typically buy modulators …armorizors …accessorizors …weaponizors or whatever the latest term is but I do like the look of these guys…and gals. Actually Shard was going to be the only one I picked up but I consistently got cold feet right before purchasing, even during the sales. When this white version was announced I thought about my lack of a Runamuck and Runabout but lamented owning two identical molds with a color change. (All g1 bots that do this are forgiven because g1). But now I see there’s a noticeable difference so I’m back in!😁
My head cannon for these Infernacs that they were once cybertroniens that had long perished and the Quintessons got a hold of the bodies experimenting on them which resulted in there robots bodies becoming more organic in appearance thus making a new work force but unfortunately for the quintessons a small fragments of the original hist remained giving the infernacs a bew life of their own though sparkless the Infernacs had free will of their own and like many otherwise rebelled againts the quintessons and gained their freedom until the decepticons found them and seeing the Infernacs as abominations they went on a crusade to exterminate them but luckily for the few survivers autobots lead by Star Saber pushed the decepticons back and helped the remaining Infernacs find a new place ro live peacefully until Thundertron and his star seekers found them and now seeks to capture them for their unique abilities to destroy cybertron .
I haven't pulled them apart yet, (although I did just get Lockdown, who is absolutely famous for wearing other bots so...) but I do love the Infernac Armorizors. I love that Shard is Deathcrystals. I also love that Nucleus is from Nucleon and is supposed to represent some sort of steroid abuse
You’re head cannon almost makes me want to buy these. It definitely fixes the disconnect I feel in the overall design. It’s all rocky bits stylized or it doesn’t work for me. The robot shapes and “vehicles” are interesting but rubber and rock don’t mix. This being a rocky disease taking over a Transformer making them sparkles zombies only wanting to expand as rock do. That’s brilliant. Maybe. Maybe I buy one and fiddle with it. I liked the Fossilizers more. I want more of those that they teased. Sabertooth and Croc, where are ya?! The Junkions are cool too. To me they aren’t weaponizers as much as combiners to make cooler tricked out boys and vehicles. I bought all them like the Fossilizers. This idea had potential. They needed you on marketing. I think more would have sold.
Buckaroo Banzai's rocket truck but it's pina colada flavor rock candy was my own thought on Nucleous's alt mode. I like the 50s movie robot vibe to his mechanical components, too, it's like something out of a pulp sci fi novel's cover painting. My own head-canon for where at least some of these guys come from is a "lost"/secluded enclave discovered by Miner D-16 in the depths and persuaded to help with a worker uprising to let them all escape the corporate thumb and get up to see the surface. The only sticking point is Rockspinator, who has a... special relationship... with space, time, and mortality anyway, so there's wiggle room there. "Wazzpinator was tired of getting zzmoozshed by falling rocks. Now Shard zzmooshes YOU!" Oh, you still doubt? Tell me who else has this fall-apart-into-bits play pattern in Transformers media... 🙃
I just got this guy yesterday, very fun posing him with those extra guns and the blast effects. I have Jolt with the original release as it just completes his look so much better, whereas Powerlinx just looks like a cool stand alone figure with his arsenal. I can't wait for Galvatron's figure to stand against him or to recreate Hot Shot's plea to unite the autobots and decepticons against Unicron.
Just brought one from my parents house that I had completely forgot about. Apparently 8-10 year old me put it back in the box and put it in a safe place to be found 30 years later. Now to see if it's complete.
You have a slight mistransformation on the landsaurus legs - it's easy to miss, but on the back, the hydrolic pipes plug into the back of the leg so that the knee moves as one angled unit in beast mode while retaining the actual articulation point.
My only critique with the opening segment is that you should've made your Override voice sound more feminine. Edit 1: Speaking of Landmine, Hasbro really needs to make a new Energon Landmine, hopefully for the new toyline next year. Edit 2: I feel like many people would get this Hot Shot just for the sake of paying tribute to Kirby Morrow, the person who voiced Hot Shot in Cybertron who sadly passed away in 2020 due to substance abuse.
😏Funny, I have no interest in picking up HotShot (despise the character) even when his recolor plus minicon was on HasbroPulse for 10 or 12 bucks. But the figure that has been on my mind lately just happens to make an appearance in HamMan’s video: Override. What are the odds😼
I kind of hope they do Shattered Glass Goldbug out of this mold, just to bring things full circle as a cheaper alternative to the old exclusive. Those arm doors could maybe serve as battle damage... I think a lot of the proportion changes you pointed out here were actually done to bring him closer to the 3d model from the anime. This also happened with Override, but that may have gone over better because her original toy doesn't seem to be a big hit with fans, plus her anime appearance was super heavily adjusted. If they did a new Defense Force Hot Shot, maybe they could repaint it as a HFTD Breacher homage to fill out a wave or multi pack.
Epic review Ham-Man!!! Galaxy Force was originally a separate story from Armada/Energon, but Hasbro wanted to have those series be a part of a trilogy, so they shoehorned Cybertron into being a sequal, which is why Cybertron Hot Shot acts more like Armada Hot Shot. lol Hasbro asked Simon Furman to write an article to explain the inconsistencies with the storyline going from Energon to Cybertron. Furman's article stated that the star created at the end of Energon collapsed and imploded into the black hole created at the start of Cybertron, and the black hole, the moment after it was created, warped reality and erased the memories of the Transformers and humans, which is why both species met each other for the first time again at the start of Cybertron, and why Hot Shot went back to being a younger slightly immature Autobot. The black hole was a reset button and the events of Armada and Energon never even happened, which unfortunately is one reason why some fans say that watching Armada and Energon is a waste of time. (grunt) I hope this info is helpful. Keep on being amazing.
But then they compensated for that penultimate part by having Rad, Carlos, Alexis, and Kicker make a cameo in the finale of Cybertron, each now ten years older than when we last saw them in Energon.
My first exposure to Magmatron was just a random image used in a Transformers history softcover, and as someone who had absolutely NO idea what a "beast wars" was, nevermind the Japanese side of things, I was like "who the heck is that guy? What does he turn into? Is he a triple-changer? I see a t-rex head, a brontosaurus and a pterodactyl thing here and there, what IS this guy?"
I am assuming the crotch notch on the front beneath the tip of the beak in bot mode is for a flight stand, but I haven’t seen any reviews actually show that in action yet. He looks fantastic. Can’t wait for my preorder to ship.
Not too sure why they went for the Leader class for this dude. I feel like he could have worked as a Voyager, considering how he's the smallest of the Dinobots. Still, this Swoop is a cool figure, and I'm glad that people collecting this team now have them all together. Personally, I only bought Grimlock because he's just the coolest. He's so cool that I don't feel that he looks out of place in my display without his dino buddies. ^^
I respect that choice, Grim has often been a solo operator. I think leader for height was good choice l, but a lil thinner could have resulted in some cool pack ins
I'll start my comment by saying I've seen enough in reviews and photos to know I'm going to happy with this figure once I have it in hand. Also, no figure is ever perfect, mainly because there will be always compromises somewhere in the appearance due to the transformation engineering. Not to mention, anyone's personal preferences/expectations will never be met when someone else creates the design. Recently I've realized that I do not like metallic paint for face sculpts; it highlights the high points too much, makes shadowed areas too dark, and just creates too much contrast. This was brought to my attention with the 'dead' Ironhide & Prowl 2-pk, and has been completely confirmed with the more recent Autobot 5-pk. I absolutely love the look of Sunstreaker, and the gray, non-metallic paint used for his face. It's just right; it gives the impression of shiny metal, without being over-done or too contrasty. Back to Swoop... His dino mode was always going to be too big; there was just no avoiding that. So they should've gone all the way and made his legs longer. He should've been as tall as the others, and in adding height, it would've made his torso proportions appear thinner/trimmer. This is a common issue with TF. Other minor issues I see with Swoop; wings could have been wider/bigger. The forearms should have had covering panels. The red head crest/point should have been angled back just a bit; that's very evident in the animation model. I agree the dino beak should have been thinner; it is a bit too pelican-like. Not to mention, a thinner beak would have allowed for a thinner torso, which helps with the overall proportions. Then lastly, and is is an issue I have with all of the Dinobots-- too much molded detail. And I get it, these are larger figures and surface areas are larger. I don't think these areas should have been completely void of detail. But in most areas, it's too much. Take a look at Kingdom Cylconus, SS86 Scourge/Sweep, and even Hot Rod. Somehow, whoever designed those figures was given the greenlight to keep it simple. And the results are beautiful. Other figures such as the ER seekers, and even NF Soundwave would have greatly benefitted from this balance. Same thing with these Dinobots. If a goal of this subline is to create screen-accuracy, then too much molded detail is a very objective observation. While I don't know how molded details affect a figure's budget, I'd assume less of this could have given enough wiggle room to address at least one of the minor issues I listed above. Between the relatively simple engineering & the smaller stature, this is a stretch for being a leader class toy. I was hoping this would include a handful of blast effects that could have been shared between the group. And yet, considering all of these critiques, I'm still very, very excited for this figure, and overall, he's still quite good. While I'd say Snarl and Grimlock are probably the best, Swoop is right up there, and for me, is better than Sludge or Slag. Solid review. I look forward to more.
Totally agree that no figure is going to please everyone but part of the gig with these vids is having to quantify and weigh in on the figure. I'm grateful for the surface detail at this scale cos as cool as those other figures are these guys just wouldn't look at home with your other figs without it. I think they've done a good job of bringing in some of sculpt deets from the toys. I do wish the NF soundwave had of had more retooled elements to make him a lil smoother. I also appreciate the time it take to write a comment of this volume and love getting into the hobby like this
When they’ve been leaning into smaller leaders with more pack ins to equal value I thought for sure they’d take that route with swoop. They’re so cool altogether though that it’s hard to be too salty
