I have been using HRD for a few years now, primarily for logging digital modes. The last couple of weeks, I have started learning SSTV and satellite tracking and communication with HRD. KI5CDP

I have been using the HRD software for a couple of years now. The biggest problem I have encountered was the USB Codec Sound card, or virtual card hanging or causing the HRD software to hang or crash. I found out later the hardware that it was coming from over buffering \ strong signals (?). Can you do a video on what HRD might recommend for sound card settings for different modes? Thank You & 73!

Hey Mike there are all these logging outfits, I.e. HDRlog, LoTW, Eqsl. I would like to see a video on utilizing these log areas. I wouldn't think I need to join them all. What do you recommend?

Is it worth getting Ham Radio Deluxe? I have an SDRPlay RSP1A....and am currently running SDRuno. What benefits are there to HRD? Is it because it is a self contained program?...as opposed to using sdruno and then fldigi or similar?

just started to use HRD,as im starting to play with the digital side of my 897,ive installed it and having problems connecting to it through my SignaLink......but we shall play and see what the problem is. Im not fully computer literate as yet,so im going to have fun and games........Im running a 897 into a signalink and then into a G5 RV...full size up about 30/40 feet,around the house. Thanks for the vid anyway..........John G7 UTG

Yeah, I've also been using HRD for quite a few years now. I'm not sure if you can download the free version any more as you could do originally. I think I paid about £80 for my installation and one year of support. The support is really good, a guy called ferry connected to my PC and help me connect two of my computers to 1 database on my shack computer. As far as I am aware, HRD is the only rig control software that also incorporates your log and rotator software in one nice little package. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, just one bit about advice. Maybe you should learn how to use HRD properly before making a tutorial on how to install and set it up. Nevertheless, I learnt a couple of new things so TA

I’ve been using HRD since its inception. This has been tough. I was told to use an IC-7200 as radio in HRD rig control. HRD is giving me CAT error can’t read frequency. Doesn’t see radio as connected. I do get a com port in the device managers. Two different PC give me the same error.

I've been advised that HRD is not compatible with the Icom RS-BA1 program for remote operation. If so, that needs attention.

I had to buy 2 FTDI chipset USB cables to get HRD to work on my Dell Inspiron N7010 17R laptop for digital modes, one for the radio's CAT port and a second one for connecting to my West Mountain Radio Rigblaster digital interface. I had always used the PL-2303 drivers and cable in the past on my old desktop PC that was runnning Windows XP, but those drivers would not work on my laptop that had Windows 7 on it at the time, now upgraded to Windows 10. You can do a search and find and download the file named HRDV6.3RigControl for lots of info on rig interfacing, but stay away from the old PL-2303 drivers because from this info I copied & pasted from the pdf file I listed above it says; Beware of Prolific chipsets and drivers. There are many of these on the market which are counterfeit and the chipsets are of poor quality. The drivers are also poorly written and will not work properly with HRD, especially if trying to use them on a Windows 7 or 8 system. Some of the problems you may experience with these chipsets and drivers are system crashes, BSOD, program lock-ups, drivers won't install properly, comports disappear for no reason, just to name a few. If in doubt as to what you need to connect your radio to the computer running Ham Radio Deluxe, contact Timewave either through their website at www.time wave.com or phone 1-651-489-5080, or, try RT Systems at www.RTSystems.com. Either one can provide you with cables and connectors to meet your needs. How do confirmations work across different platforms? I currently have lotw and qrz. I don’t know how to get qrz to recognize that a contact is confirmed to lotw. I populate lotw from qrz. Would HRD help with this?

I have been tearing my hair out for weeks trying to get my icom 7300 on digital modes using Ham Radio Deluxe. I finally get my rig control to the point where it changes the freq. on the ic-7300. BUT it takes up the whole screen. Then I find f4 puts it into a window so I can move it from one monitor to another. BUT i can not hear anything on my pc. To get sound back I have to change the sound for speakers out so I can hear audio then I can not get anything to work on the hf rig. BUT HRD does not co-[opperate on any thing. Surely some one can come up with a SIMPLE way to easly tune to a cw signal or a psk or what ever. IS there a way to get a full 9 moith tutorial on what to do. I have tried to go digital at least 100 times over the past 10 years but it is impossible. I have wasted money on HRD which does not work. Does not Work, Does not work. So are all thiese videos showing it working a fraud? Why not build a special computer that only does the need things to go digital. I have worked in computers since 1963 so I am no dummy. Yet every effort I do leads to frustration. While I am 77 and retired I do have other things to do instead of 100's of hours of fruatrating trials. I trully would like to have digital modes available to me. The Icom IC-7300 has built in sound card, and cat crontrol throujgh the usb a to b cable to connect to the pc. I have gone through all the menus on it and set every thing to get hrd to connect and even change freq. But where can I hear the sonnd on the pc. Dumb. Dumb. and mad.

Dear Joe, your not the only one that had (past tense) problems. All I can say is that I kept trying and eventually understood the three areas that need configuring. It not easy but then when you crack the nut you realise it wasn’t hard, well just a bit. I now have an IC 7100, long story but don’t forget to switch over to ‘data’ on the rig. Good luck. The only way to run HRD on a Mac is to partition your Mac Hard drive to run Virtual Windows. There is no Mac HRD software. I don’t know why Jason wants to borrow someone’s Mac to install HRD on Mac IOS. Because there is no such thing. The only thing on a Mac that would be helpful is to learn to partition your hard drive. But once you have virtual windows running, it’s the same as setting it up on Windows. The only difference between Windows and Virtual windows is that Virtual windows takes up a lot of your hard-drive space and it runs a bit slower. In my experience, it’s not worth it unless you have a ton of hard-drive space on your mac hard drive. Just get a cheap windows machine that will run HRD. Again, Jason, there is no HRD application for Mac, none, nada, zilch! So you don’t need anyone to lend you their mac to test how HRD runs on Mac IOS. You cannot install HRD on Mac IOS because HRD for IOS doesn’t exist.
